pyro flamethrower is already a track aim weapon, just the only people who know how to track with it reliably have bothered making a server, turning on sv_cheats 1, and then finally tf_debug_flamethrower 1. i recommend you firstly watch some of sketchek's videos and use tr_walkway_fix, it is a good map for practicing as the character, and is worth doing even if you don't play pyro just because it will highlight most pyro user's major weaknesses and just be a general gauge of threat as its obvious as fuck who doesn't know the hitboxes

are there any good vanilla surf maps? all the servers available change the physics for full air control and other things that don't really help you in the game at all. i try going through for example surf_aircontrol, my favorite, in a private server and you slide much further on drops. im able to go through about half of it before the slide becomes a real problem so i wonder if its actually me or if maps are being made with a fucking mod in mind but regardless i know for a fact maps like surf_mesa and surf_derpis are completely mod reliant so surely there are vanilla maps too

Contracts are a prime example, they can only be done on valve servers, and with most big updates they release a set of contracts. More eyes on the product, more people playing, but those people have a definable benefit from going to a valve server instead of going to a community server. Them allowing community servers to be used for contracts would only result in ContractFinish: The Map being created and subsequently abused. It's what I'd do, I know that about myself.

I change teams whenever I get offered unless I'm the one who's capped twice and we currently have the intel.

The only problem is it offers you maps outside the gamemode you're currently playing. Since what it offers is based on what people are queueing for it shouldn't have been that much of a problem anyhow, it's just that people are queueing for "ALL MAPS" and valve likely thought that people would be more discerning than that.
