If I had an Ephraim, I'd probably give him Hone Speed and maybe Rally Def to make him into as good a buff bot as Eirika is, thanks to his weapon. It doesn't hurt his offensive capabilities in any way but makes him that much more useful when waiting for the right time to throw him at people.

At least Ursula/Olwen can manage with base Blarblade while grabbing Moonbow from a 4* Odin while they wait for another to get summoned and raised MUCH later for a slight boost in damage. I use her on a team with Eirika and Sharena, who give her +4 Atk, +4 Spd, and +3 Def each turn, if they both start next to her and Sharena rallies. Defiant Atk and Speed don't stack on top of that, which means that her total buffs in one turn would be (+7 Atk, +4 Spd, +3 Def) or (+4 Atk, +7 Spd, +3 Def), which adds +14 to Gronnblade's effect.
