Combos in this game are suuuuper easy dude, there's buffers for fucking everything, I'm a literal retard on a keyboard and I can pull off semi-complex stuff with ease.
There's also the whole thing about BNB being a bad term but that's a different argument.
And combos really aren't that long, I just recorded an impractical heavy counterhit combo with Bella/H A-Train and it was 22 seconds. Mind you that's if I chose to finish it off with a super instead of resetting, with a HCH so that removes Undizzy, AND the fact that H A-Train and Pummel Horse are moves that take a while.
Eliza midscreen BNB is 16 seconds with Lady of Slaughter being the majority of that time, Filia standard midscreen is 16 seconds including Fenrir Drive. I don't care enough to record the lengths of everyone else's standard midscreen combos. I just don't get where the whole "30 second long combo" thing comes from.

It's definitely longer. But with stuff like damage scaling and Undizzy to take into consideration it's not really a fair comparison. The circumstances aren't always the same - if I hit someone when they still have Undizzy I'm not going to be able to do that 240 Undizzy combo; if I'm Bella and I catch someone jumping with a jHK, that knocks them to the ground and I have to do a combo that doesn't use OTG.
I'm sure Valentine could perform some hella long combos with dat six-button magic series but if it's going to do sub-6000 damage you're never going to see her do it.

That's not how it works. Undizzy is capped at 240. Once they get up, undizzy immediately starts draining from 240, because nothing was ever added past the cap.

What point are you trying to make? That's how Undizzy works, yes. You cannot start a new chain after you've reached 240 Undizzy, however much you end the combo at doesn't matter.

They're trying to say that the amount of undizzy you build up during the combo is added onto the undizzy time at the end for how long it takes to recover. Like if you build up to 400 (example) undizzy at the end of a combo, the opponent will have an extra 160 points of undizzy deterioration before it shows up on their undizzy bar.
At least that's what I think they are saying. I honestly don't know how excess undizzy works with the current system.

C'mon guys the tutorial's explained this. Not going into how suboptimal it is to put a bunch of lights/mediums in the last chain of your combo, any hits past 240 still add undizzy that has to be drained. You can see this if you do a combo in training to 240 undizzy and stop and watch the bar start to immediately drain, and if you do a combo to 240 undizzy and just keep going through the green sparks you'd having to wait for the excess to drain down to 240 before seeing the bar go down.

That's incorrect. It can go above 240, but only during the last chain. Attempting to do it in a new chain will trigger Undizzy sparks.
It's still incorrect to say that it's a 270 Undizzy combo, even if it goes above 240 Undizzy it's still called a 240 Undizzy combo since that's the highest you can get and that's when maximum scaling is guaranteed to be taking place.

I know that LZ is working, all I said was since Peter had said he was preparing for the VO goal to get hit that I figured they'd have an update around when the goal actually got hit. And I just mean any for of update about the VO goal, not an ad for the dungeon goal, they didn't even put the VO video up until we were close, long after it was filmed at that.
It's just weird they haven't even put an update on the IGG page, even if they're waiting to film something with Vee, which would make sense, wouldn't that have been what he was preparing back when he said he was getting ready for the goal?
Anyway, don't expect a dungeon video until they have new merch lined up, as Peter said himself, there is no way to instill a feeling of urgency in an already funded campaign, so that's their best bet, along with the beta.

Because the single-player experience would be more fun. Right now I can only just keep playing arcade mode over and over, but unlike online pvp, the AI doesn't change. By adding the RPG effect I can keep playing and not get bored.
I don't want to have to go online just to play a fighting game. I can't afford decent internet and I have to share my connection with other people so most online games I can get anywhere from 200 to thousands of pings. Shooters are barely playable but fighting games become unplayable. But most shooters have some kind of offline campaign component. But fighting games don't really offer this stuff aside from an arcade mode that takes less than half an hour to beat. Soul Caliber 2 and Smash Bros. Brawl had the best single player experience, I wish more games had those modes. Tekken 5/Tag 2 has some decent offline modes but the game feels so repetitive compared to other fighting games, plus not on pc.
Skullgirls has the gameplay and art down, but the replayability could be soooooooo much better.

Nothing wrong with innovating in a dying genre. Devs have taken FPS + RPGs to make Call of Duty and Borderlands and the world didn't end. MOBAs were made by splicing traditional RPGs/MMOs with RTS mechanics, and they were popular. Now we have Hero Shooters by splicing MOBAs and FPSs. You don't see a lot of ground-breaking innovation in fighting games though. It's mostly derivative or slight improvements to the existing formula. And barely anyone plays them outside of Street Fighter and Smash. There's more money in branching out, which means more sequels and even more money. And more players means more tourneys and views, which leads to more people wanting to try the game and buy it.

You can still have fighting games, but there's nothing wrong with adding an RPG mode. All you'd need is some UI updates and some new icons for gear. You don't even have to rebuild the mechanics or anything. Make it a separate mode that doesn't affect pvp. It's not like the game would hurt any more by being more accessible because your pvp portion isn't even being affected.

Singleplayer stuff is fine, but the main replayability of fighting games has always been the "git gud" part, pitting your skills and knowledge against others. No AI can mimic that, and we've seen that journey of improvement give people many years of enjoyment.
You might want to check out Thems Fightin Herds when it's done though. They're using a lot of RPG concepts for their story mode and tutorials that'll hopefully turn out well.

To add, L0 managed to implement a new challenge mode and add new mechanics like playing as Marie. The mobile version is even getting skill trees and stuff. It wouldn't be impossible to add, not even that difficult since you don't need big hi-res art for the UI. Doesn't the mobile version already have floating damage text fully animated? That's already half the work completed for an rpg mode. You don't need to make an entirely new game.

Sounds interesting. The only thing I've seen that has what I'm looking for is Dungeon Fighter, but it's online, and it's momre like a brawler/beat-em-up than a fighter. I like the 1v1 style of fighting games with stronger opponents rather than trying to manuever around waves of weak enemies.

Something I like that TFH is doing is they have enemies in story mode that will teach certain defensive skills. Like there's a monster that always goes low, a monster that always does crossups, bosses that'll do both, etc., so people will have to learn how it feels to react and block those in order to beat them unscathed. Ideally once people finish it, they'll have basically finished a big tutorial, but under the umbrella of a story mode.

Yeah, they already did a Rotation run a couple days ago. Their only one scheduled, unfortunately.
They're doing another Project Base run and Blindfolded run on Monday though, I missed the blindfold run from AGDQ so I definitely want to see that.
I wonder if people will be able to do Indiv blindfold runs. Maybe Mike will try it first.
