Not the same guy, but I have played Blanc's game (though I haven't played Nep U) and some of the controls are awkward. While I haven't played it in a long time, I do remember to transform and to use your special move, you needed to press 3 different buttons. Unlike SK, where you only need to press L and one of the face buttons (I've only played SK on Vita, so I don't know what it's like on PS4) depending on which level Ninja Art you wanna use.

Well, I just got the Normal Ending in Rebirth2.

Looking at a guide, to get the true ending I needed to get equal shares for all the CPUs, and wipe out Arfoire shares. Which I did. I did that anyway, it seemed like the right thing to do.
But apparently I also had to get a shitload of other party members to join the group like the rest of the CPUs, that weird dog girl, tekken and marveloustits.
I have no idea how I would have encountered them. I went through all the dungeons. I did every event in every location in every chapter. I read every chirper.

It ended so easily. The final fight so quick and so simple. Surprised me that I was even at the end of the game at all.

In the original version of the game, each nation has individual share meters. In order to recruit the CPUs, you had to get that nation's Shares to 50% within their own scope of influence. Thus, you could have this done simultaneously for all nations. Since R;B2 is a lazy V hackjob like R;B1, the Share system is universal instead but the % requirement was kept the same. Thus, more tedium. However, the logic is the same, and the game does give you an identical message in both versions that is upfront and clear.

mk2 was my first Nep game and I thought it was pretty obvious what was necessary when White Heart says they need more shares to fight and you only get Neptune.

I believe you can max each individual meter eventually through the Colosseum, but as far as normal quests go you can get each Nation's individual influence to 70%+ really really easily and just leave it there.

Then that's what I would have done, if I'd played Mk2, and I would've had them added without even realising that was what I had to do.

In Rebirth, you can only get shares by taking them away from someone else. So when I had equal shares across the CPUs, it made no sense to steal shares from their own sick friends. It just wouldn't make any sense.
Maybe it made sense in Mk2, because you're not stealing shares from each other you're just gaining new shares. The message you guys are referring to just does not make sense with Rebirth.
