That's because you had gavelkind succession on which breaks it up, if you have primogentiure on then the first male inherits all lands. Just play as wessex, post here and I'll help you, it's actually not that hard. It is GSG for the fact of how inheritance works, and how much buildings cost, also border gore exists

There's no right way to play it. You can play it as a role playing "palace intrigue" simulator, you can play it as an autism game of the "optimize these stats" variety, or you can play it as a map painting simulator, but you will need to make different gameplay choices to achieve any of those things.

In your case you'd need a succession law and a dynastic structure that suits blobbing. You could try seniority if your dynasty isn't too big, or primogeniture if you can manage it and have plenty of heirs.

Okay, so, /gsg/, I'm trying to become a Muslim Merchant Republic based out of Casablanca, but, in order to raise Tribal Authority to do that, I need a duchy of which I have 3.
However, of the 3 remaining, 2 are held by a Emir with civilization, IE, cavalry, who can BTFO my tribal levies with any attempt. The last one is the Canaries, and the guy does nothing but maintain a standing tribal army of 2k guys, which I can't beat, especially with a naval invasion.
So, as the Umayyads have expanded to take a portion of North Africa: should I swear fealty to them in order to get support for conquering one of these lands? Or does that not really work, and will it end up fucking me in the long run?

We're not really talking a "Texas or California secedes from the United States" scenario. They'd just be losing one major city that isn't even the 2nd largest on the island. Controlling a lot of land isn't really important for having a good power status in the 21st century unless your country relies heavily on exploiting natural resources (i.e., has an undeveloped economy) like Russia's. As one of the longest-industrialized countries, the English rely more on economic power and sociocultural influence, two things that they still have plenty of and would maintain even without Scotland.

Losing the Queen will probably damage their soft-power in terms of iconography and influence more than losing Scotland.

I used the new secret religion mechanics to not get fucked as Erik the Heathen. I tried several times to play as him without faking conversion, but I always ended up either imprisoned or force-converted by my liege's court chaplain. Gonna try to reform the faith. Also, disease has not been kind to my dynasty. It almost entirely died out. There's four living members currently: me, my newborn son, my niece, and her young son.

People who say that Cornwall or the North will want to secede from England are getting their information from Grand Strategy games set closer in time to the foundation of the English crown than they are to today. I thought about going by the silk road as Genoa, snake my way through towards the valueable trade goods and leave trade cities across it, but I don't really play much singleplayer.

This is a coop game where Gujarat is a merchant republic, so we get buffed with up to 49.9% goods produced, not to mention the extra money from having one player focus ideas and policies on trade efficiency and trade steering.
Been developing a bit and built a ton of infrastructure to paint the trade value map green.

But in all seriousness, yes, of course Wales isn't going to secede. Scotland operates with a semi-autonomous system of government. It's practically set up like a client state. The transition to independence would be much easier for Scotland because they already have all the necessary parts of a functioning government except (as far as I know) a military, which would be quickly resolved when they join NATO.

I dont pick, Aragon starts at war with Castile, who has twice the force limit an a vassal while you have a lesser ally.
Milan starts at war with 3 minor, normally I can win this no problem but in Iron man they build troops faster for some reason. Then Im fighting 13 people with 9 and have 1 rolled general vs their 3.
Both are simple to win normally but for some reason Ive failed the 2 over a dozen times.

You can easily get 12 colonists, its just longer. So its better to just steal land from people. Or Mexico. Thats what I did, just took all of Mexico and called it a day, started wrapping around Africa to get to the easy spice islands.

Its slow though. I play it in the background most of the time. If you start at 1444 its not so bad, but I think 1508 was my latest date and thats 152 years from the start. Then I quit playing Ireland because its boring.

This is outdated, the american tribes nations used to be in a separate submod, to improve game speed. The last update added them back to the base game, you decide by event at game start if you want them in or not.

On colonization, on M&T it is much slower, yes, but you get three times more colonists. With expansion, exploration and global empire, you can have 14 colonists.
Colonisation speed also pick up thanks to triggered modifiers. What this means is that colonisation is much more realistically paced, you can still have plenty to colonize as a late comer, just like the Brits and Dutch were. Also, Australia and Africa are locked away by tech level, like in Victoria.

It isnt, I was playing tall and even if you dont you cant do anything until adm 16 (around 1420 or something) and I started in 1357 so was sitting in Ireland for the whole game until I could colonize and then found out it was slow so I moved on to the neatherlands, which I formed quickly due to small neighbors, then sat and decided to mess around with other countries and for most of the game its sitting because it runs about haf the speed of normal EU4. I mean its mostly waiting for development to go up or truces to finish. Meiou 2.0 looks like there will be alot more stuff to do so...

Thats impossible, Ive got like 13 troops vs their 25 a shitty general every time compared to them who shits out 3-4 shocks every time and I have to protect tramasta too. It always ends up with my force limits sling shotting back and forth and I have to get rid of troops because anything over 4 over force limit is disgusting in cost, and then I cant protect Tramasta which means I have to end it before the provincs start to flip and then I quit and start again. I dont know what causes it to go from 20 to 13 to 16 to 12 to 20 again and over and over but it keeps happening. Tax and force limit is broken in that game they change all the time.

It's probably the development modifier. You should only start building troops after the calculations event fires. You also get a forcelimit bonus during war too.

Beyond that, war exhaustion will increase autonomy, which will decrease your effective military development, and forcelimit.

You can try surrendering after dragging the war as long as you can, offering them a couple of things. You don't have to keep fighting Castille, since you can unite with them through the Iberian Wedding.

How the hell am I supposed to beat this monstrosity? Even without the "Hard" version bonus events that supposedly give them even more bonus troops, I'm finding it impossible to advance at all after a couple months. With the exceptions of Yugoslavia and Switzerland, all of Europe is under my control, with both France and Britain falling within a month and two months respectively, and yet somehow the Soviets wildly outnumber me. Despite having 50 armored divisions and 150 infantry divisions (I've been building purely military nonstop since '36 after pure industry building from '33 to '36), I can barely advance a province without coming into 20 more divisions in the next province.

MOT/MEC is only good if you can actually punch a hole in the enemy lines, right? Since all of the provinces with beachheads had anywhere between 3-10 divisions, I paradropped into Hull, which has a port but no beachhead. The AI didn't garrison any troops there because of the lack of a beachhead, so after securing the province with the paratroopers, I quickly shipped dozens of armored divisions under the protection of air cover and my small but modern and durable navy.
