found a cloak of flame while leveling, took mom + arctic armour for the funs, I literally stand in breaches and take barely any damage.

I'm tankier than a marauder start with 1500hp by the end of normal

Gold Doors needlessly extend the length of the Labyrinth when all you care about is the straight and narrow. Nobody uses the things in the side areas that make the fights easier when the mechanics are mostly a joke outside Charges and even then, if you dissipate right, it's still not hard and only a problem if you wanna farm Uber Lab.
Normal lab yesterday In Scrub Legacy was a great Labyrinth. 2 rooms, Izaro 1, 3 rooms, but last one's entrance was next to the Trial, Izaro 2, 3 rooms, Izaro 3. No gold doors, side-areas if I wanted them, but no bullshit roundabout paths through 20 rooms, just a straight-shot. Fuck many of the layouts tho.

I played a frost blade assassin a bit during essence hc, your single target is always going to be shit because you should scale the projectiles entirely, not the first melee attack.

I used a 4link viper strike for single target.

was using HoI to blow up packs faster.

it was more of a throwaway character and I didnt have much life, its probably better on raider now with its new ascendancy, but yeah single target on frost blades will always be a problem.

So I'm pretty decent at this game in every aspect but resistances. The jump from normal to merc is what really kills me. How is it possible to not only build my resistances but ALSO keep my links and shit I have set up? I always seem to get stuck in this situation where my entire build revolves around a few links that I can't seem to get on newer gear. Should I farm? This is all in HC, by the way.

Summoners are some of the best self-found classes out there desu. Only unique item you'll suffer without is Bones of Ullr, but honestly you're fine all the way till maps without it. Can get pretty far in maps without it anyways.

Use less links when leveling. I only needed a 3-link for cwc fireball/scorching ray, a 3-link for curse on hit orb of storms, a couple of red sockets for leap slam and enduring cry, and a blue socket for clarity. This has been the smoothest leveling experience of my life.

This game really needs a full respect option. Like let you do it after clearing a full act but only once and moving on to the next act loses your chance so it helps if you screwed up or get that bored but not a free leveling efficiency respec.

Just finished cruel lab and at lvl 56 right now.
My build is Occultist mostly oriented towards ES (no CI yet but planned) and I have 2,9k ES with Discipline.
I use two claws and plan on getting vaal pact and ghost reaver.
But right now I am getting my Ass handed to me. Constant instadeaths despite Basalt Flask. Sometimes I can get my ES recharge on during combat and then I can just take any ammount of damage thanks to being uninterruptible, but it's getting rarer and rarer. Also, Stuns are a problem too. Also my damage is getting less noticeable on enemies in Act4.According to tooltip I have 2,8-3,1k on DualStrike and 180-215 average damage on blade flurry (depending on power charges)
Should I get Ghost Reaver and Vaal Pact now and do I need to get Life Leech passives to make it work or does Claw leech suffice?

So 99% of top HC rips are to volatiles they missed / forgot about / saw too late / thought they checked but it turned out they didn't. There are other common rips, but by far the most common is a volatile rip. You can dodge it 99 times out of 100, but the moment you fail to dodge it - and you will, eventually - you are immediately dead.

A bit less cheap, since I've got lucky with belly and abyssus, but I hope that you get the premise and logic behind. The only thing you actually need is bloodseeker claw, which will greatly help you to sustain. I've done merc lab with 4L because of the claw - 3.5k hp with capped fire res, others were in 40% range. Only thing you need to care for are one shots, other than that... pretty much you're fine until t11+ maps.

You can also get other shield with more armor and res in order to be more tanky.
