with 16:9 being the standard for new 2D fighters for some years now, did this aspect ratio, in your opinion, help to improve the games?

By the way i actually like dark/evil/whatever alternate versions of characters in fighting games. Maybe a big part of it is because every game did it and I didn't realize it was just to save costs with clones at the time, but I've always found it interesting.
It's also cool to see from a gameplay point of view how the change is reflected and how different the character plays. One of the things I loved the most about melty from the start was how every character had 3 versions, it was so interesting to see all the different ones for each. Alternate characters are kinda like that.

Maybe I'm just autistic like the Sonic fans with all their Hedgehogs.
