you grind earth shrine and grab any moogles you come across. this event has one at 30000 phantoma which is the goto for this kinda thing but avoid the 70000k, its not worth it. If you are just starting out, dont worry about tm grinding for now, save the moogles for a high value tm, dual wield from zidane is the priority tm to get. Dualcast is more for healers than mages since all the good mages has it built into their kit already.

exdeath is a 3 star, so he's easy to pull. If you mean refia, thats good too since she is a great healer with a great physical attack and defense party buff and full revives, the goto healer now but is slowly getting fazed out. Seven has value but only if you got people with access to high damage fire/thunder/ice attacks so a welcome addtion to a mage team.

Actual SB animations are usually pretty good looking.
In the beginning they put effort into animating the commands too with characters jumping around, but after a few (I think Bartz or Tidus was the first) they started using just the character stepping forward, flailing arms randomly and effects and damage appearing completely out of synch from even the arm flailing.
It looks lazy as fuck.
Recently in JP they started animating commands again thankfully.
Gaia Cross is another exemple of this.
Compare the shitty out of synch animation of Gaia to Saint Cross to see what I mean.

I finally beat XV and understood the ending pretty clearly, despite seeing a bunch of people say they're confused about it. It seemed pretty clear-cut to me:
>Noctis sacrifices himself on the throne to "ascend" into the Crystal's world and kill Ardyn
>He disappears in that world too, sacrificing both body and soul to save Eos
>The daemons and darkness are erased from Eos, but the Six are lost as well

It's meant to signify how far you've come. The game started pretty innocuously and with just you and your bros going on a car trip. It winds up far into a night-based apocalypse and a story about thousands of years of politics, myths and legends coming to life, and the death of most of the people he loved. Him and his bros have all been changed considerably, and it's been a difficult time.

The song and the opening narration is meant to remind you how it all started, with the hopeful optimism and the youthful mistakes. Personally I think it doesn't hit so strongly since 2/3 of the game winds up being the road trip with bros portion and even the characters seem to ignore all of the rough shit going on in most cutscenes, especially since all of the tragedy happens way too early in the narrative, but it's a great idea written out.

I am mixed on rolling on this gil banner or not.
I have everything besides ramza, who i'd like, but any bartz, snow, or agrias i get is also 5% towards their tmrs and bartz especially is one i want right now.

She's not quite Maria/Papalymo/Edea tier, but she is a wrath mage with EnElement and a stacking self-boost (nothing else would give her a Stitch in Time status).

Poison-elemental being rare isn't a disadvantage in and of itself; it's rarely resisted, even if it's also not a common weakness. Slightly more relevant is just that Edgar's Chainsaw SSB has never been featured since its original banner and it's the only Imperil Poison in the game.

There's also not much +Poison damage gear; just Poison Rod (a 3* rod) and Malboro Tentacle (a 6* whip). Thancred's BSB2 dagger and Edgar's OSB gun are also +Poison but only in synergy.

Even for all that, she can still pump out some good damage, even if not as effortlessly as Raines.

Being honest, VIII is a good "experience" but VIII is a bad "game". As a game it's broken with deeply problematic mechanics, as a story it's convoluted and incoherent at the best of times. However, these don't really drag it down too far. You can coast along just enjoying the sights, music, and scenes. Shallow, but satisfying.

Yeah, I don't stand a snowball's chance. Pic related is my "team." I use the term loosely because it's just all the units I have relics for plus my favorite unit. They're horribly underleveled, I have almost none of the basic abilities needed to clear difficult content (I've been told to wait to get those during orbfest, which seems like a good plan), and my relics are either not very good or they don't really work together effectively (like imperil dark+fire boost).

Yesterday was my first Sunday, so I used it to get a feel for how easy/hard it is to grind. I exclusively ran the 90 stamina dungeon, just dipping in to do the first stage and then retreating since that's the most I could do. The 170k exp will maybe bring some of my team up to 50 next Sunday, but not much more than that, and it only gets harder to level the more levels they gain. Only being able to grind properly once a week is probably my only complaint about this game so far, as I find the story dungeons give next to nothing in comparison.

We get orbfest during the anniversary, which gives really good XP along with a lot of orbs in fairly easy dungeons. That's the best place for new people to get up to a decent level. Also make sure you get carried through the lower difficulty raids that give you the major XP eggs.

Speaking of raids, I have a noob question now that I finally have power breakdown. I notice in raids people use it on the boss a lot, but it says "resist." Does that mean it had no effect, or does it just apply a smaller penalty to attack than normal? If the latter, how much of a percentage difference is there?

Also, I'm up for Sephy ultimate/apoc if anyone feels like carrying me.

Having one Agrias in the wallet for long, long term usage (once she has 6* + enhancement, you can summon Orlandeaus and use them at max power) is a decent investment.
But more importantly what you want to roll is Ramza.
Ramza once he gets his enhancement becomes an absolute beast of a character who brings ultra support to a party. As events get harder and harder and fights get longer, MP engines become more and more necessary to keep your healers and even DPS in the game and not wasting turns using ethers/elixirs. To say nothing of the amazing 100% buffs--Enhanced Ramza has a position on any team.

I think there are others but I don't know much about them.

Anyway he's still pretty top tier, especially against single target attacks.
