True, my bad.I just panicked because the old thread died
For some reason I've just been really wanting to create my own secluded little nature grove hidden deep in a witchery grown forest.

Now I have to craft 8 of these things. By the looks of it, it's going to take much longer to craft than the portal rift.

Jesus fucking christ, those apes can't do anything right.
TNT cannons are part of some of the best multiplayer maps ever created, like the pirate ships.

That'll be a waste, they're used to just "pick up" ender crystals, like a Dolly would pick a barrel. They aren't used up in the process
Put Warp Glasses between at your base and near End portal and just make 8 trips

Q: My (stupid) buddy built his modpack in Curse. If I just make sure I have all the same jars and configs and shit, theres no reason i cant load his modpack in forge without curse right?
Shit, I need help. Someone recommended me mods to make Minecraft more Diablo like with random monsters/bosses/dungeons/item drops but I never saved it.
I only remember a few like Better AI, Dangerous Dungeons(?)

Zombie Awareness
Grimoire of Gaia
Lycanite Mobs

Neat. Dropped. The mod seemed so interesting at first, too.

Looking for some lite mods, particularly things that just spice up niche stuff such as backpacks, adding more dungeons / places to explore, etc.
No mods that adds whole new tech trees such as industrial, thaumcraft, Tinkerer's etc.

If Java starts acting irregularly slow (major spikes of non-responsiveness), that's almost always a good sign to bump the memory amount up.

Your memory. Minecraft will use about 1GB more than you allocate for reasons which are not yet clear to anyone (about 1/3rd of that should be the JIT cache + class cache + ..., but where does the rest come from?).

Mix of custom blocks from my tex pack and IE engineering blocks. Purely aesthetic. just getting my warehouse game on.
Is it possible to have many jobs+trade on customnpcs? I'm trying to make one of the traders give the player a quest, but no success so far.
>>170251280
Just have a trader helper / apprentice / something next to the trader that can give you the quest
I guess Fruit Phone isn't all that useful on 1.7.10, all it does is provide a blue box for WAILA's info while showing you the content of inventories and tanks, possibly because that version doesn't have this capability thing which I don't know much about anyway. It's still good to see mods getting backported to 1.7.10 though.
Thaumcraft newbie here. Is there a way to transfer the vis in my magic wand to essentia?

So I'm thinking of using your greens to weave and decrease the waste in leather product creation. Tripling your usable pieces, and increasing the practicality of creating and using said leather products.
Might even make some leather / tarp blocks to go with it.
Also some iron chains, nothing special there, clank some iron into several chains for chain mail armor. Far cheaper then the full plate iron.

It does indeed. Normally I just set up a cow grinder to get leather and steak (can turn into leather with Thaumic Horizons), but I really don't feel like doing that so I just used Botania to change zombie flesh into leather.

It's not that big a deal if you just automate item placement for arcane pedestals. I was doing it a stupid way with TT dynamism tablets, but I found out that you can just use Ender IO item conduits to pump items straight onto the pedestal.
Plus, Thaumic Bases lets me just straight up grow void seeds so it's not like I'm going to hit a bottleneck with void metal like people usually do.

What are other "large content" mods I should consider adding to my pack in order to make it last a long time? Maybe something obvious I'm overlooking or something popular here that isn't popular elsewhere.
Awhile ago I finished a pack where I just raced to the end-game of mods like Thermal Expansion and Extra Utilities and it was a boring experience.
Current "large content" mods I have installed:

The functional flowers I have set up in the fight ring really make the fight trivial. 1 flower gives me regen, another prevents mobs from walking towards me and the red ones inflict a constant stream of damage on enemy mobs.
It's perfect. I'm so fucking happy right now. All according to keikaku.
So I'm playing FTB Infinity Evolved Skyblock and the guide book warns me that the pure certus quartz needed for the inscriber will take 16 hours to grow. However, neither the energy acceptor nor the crystal growth accelerator need pure crystals, so why shouldn't I just build those and get the growth time down to a reasonable time before building the inscriber? I googled it and all I get is people bitching they have to wait 16h for it, but it just seems retarded not to build the growth accelerators first. Am I missing something obvious here? Separate cpu threading I think - most of the game isn't multi-threaded.
Your single player game runs both a client and a server instance, so both of them hit that single thread hard and choke up your machine. However your multiplayer game only runs a client instance, clearing a lot of threading space and eliminating that issue. Blame Mojang for poorly threading their game.

Something immersive that focuses on enhancing vanilla aspects instead of adding wacky shit. Like new enemies, weapons, places to explore and building tools. No out of the world or quest based exploring on maps, nothing wacky and overly technical contraptions.
And is there any decent movement mods? I remember a while back there was an enhanced movement mod and a parkour mod which were lovely to use.
>>170314476
From what I understand, most of the FTB modpacks at least try to modify vanilla as little as possible for whatever reason while adding tons of other random shit.
I'd love a modpack that just enhances vanilla stuff while keeping out the ten thousand different ore processing mods and bizarre magic shit that adds a hundred gimmicky toys to play around with. Sadly, these kinds of modpacks are nearly non existent.
Your best bet would be to make your own. I made a server some time ago for my family that had a few vanilla enhancing mods like Quark and some mods that added some places to explore like Twilight Forest and it was pretty fun. No horribly overpowered shit that dealt 10 times the damage of diamond sword and repaired itself automatically or any bullshit like that, just good, clean, vanilla-themed fun.

>Ideas guy-ing
Dummashin - minimalist industrial mod. Cheap machines with barely any GUI, no tiering, no upgrades, no configuration, no automatic ejection.
Compacter: insert ingots/clay at the top. Get blocks from the bottom. Requires some power.
Cobblegen: side the machine with lava and water and it'll produce cobble. Put a hopper/pipe below and it's full auto. No power required.
Block dispenser: give power and a redstone signal and it'll place blocks.
Block breaker: give power and a redstone signal and it'll break blocks. Required time depends on hardness.
>>170318252
this would work well with a magic-oriented setup, nice ideas

Oh FTB, please never change.
>>170318252
Barrel: insert water buckets and dye from the sides, and dye-able blocks from the top. Get dyed blocks and empty buckets from the bottom. 1:4 dye:blocks ratio, easy as fuck to automate, no power required, and doubles as aesthetic block.
>>170318383
The beauty of simplicity is that it would work just fine with magic, vanilla-like or industrial setup. I don't know why mods like Thermal Expansion do all that convoluted mess of tabs and upgrades and "resonant tier" shit, it adds nothing to gameplay.

There are items without the proper names, there's weird bugs like trying to right-click to insert single items into machines making the stack disappear, there's no fast leaf decay, when I swing a tool it disappears off the screen for like three seconds, something makes mobs glide around weird when I hit them, there's way too much coal and iron everywhere you look, it needs like 5GB or more of ram to play, it takes 5 minutes to start, NEI was working in creative mode even when it was specifically in recipe mode, enemies take a thousand hits to kill.

When it comes to modpacks, FTB sets the gold standard of how hard you can fuck up. Seriously, back in 1.6.4, they somehow introduced a bug where any block that used the flower rendering ID, including vanilla, would render as if they were lily pads.
>>170326305
Their problem is that they're trying to make kitchen sink packs big enough for every major streamer to find something in them to play, but to still play differently than the other streamers.
If they would just make a fun pack, for regular people, with about 60-80 mods, instead of almost 200, it might actually be fun. Instead, what Mojang does is like dumping a video game emulator with a thousand ROMs in front of some kid and expecting that kid to know what to play with first. It's better than having to implement a fake Block class, or manually sending in vertexes and reinventing model parsers for every mod, to render anything complex (that is, without a model provided by vanilla) without resorting to a TESR - and TESRs have never been taken away either.
It was worse in the beginning because Forge didn't handle many things, such as providing dynamically calculated models or actually doing lighting properly (not that 1.7 ever did - BC pipes just force flat lighting), but it all got fixed.

I still don't get what's up with this mod. It's like they picked up a bunch of features from other mods, made them even cheaper (chunkloading literally for free) and then called it FTB's most important mod.
So, I'm making a private server for family and friends who I'm trying to mostly-wean off of ATLauncher and FTB packs, who are used to a whole bucketload of bullshit.
That would normally be easy- in fact, it's been pretty easy before when I've done it before.
The trick is now, that I'm trying to do it in 1.10.2. I've got the basics- You know, WAILA, NEI, Morpheus, Gravestone that kind of thing. >>170350706
Yeah, certain blocks nearby it supply you with various permanent aspects.
Clusters give you their according primals.
I think aura nodes do also.
Books give you a random one.
Dragon egg gives you all the primals and some other random ones.
There's a lot of other blocks that supply things as well, you can look it up somewhere. Like even potato crops give off aspects if i recall.
https://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/thaumcraft-research-boost-list.10983/
That one is really old though.
So what happens with the permanent aspects is that if it goes below 1 it will usually regenerate that point within a minute. Not that useful for most simple aspects but for the more complex aspects it really pays off, since those take up to ten points to create.
If I recall you can kind of cheese the system by placing a lot of research tables next to each over so those also get the permanent aspect bonuses. But now if you run out of an aspect you can turn around and use the next table for that point, and keep switching around until your research is complete instead of waiting around for one single table to regenerate.

A lot of casuals like myself would use TE for beginning and mid game. Then I would switch to IC2 when I felt I had enough RF/t and a RF->EU converter like a mekanism pipe, because IC2 machines are the fastest in the game if you can supply them with enough EU.
I no longer do this for obvious reasons though. It takes the fun out of things. So yea I'd probably just use one "big" tech mod in the future. Maybe throw in a smaller mod like immersive engineering as well.

I wish someone would just say FUCK YOU to the modcucks, steal all the ideas and assets from IC2, Mekanism, TE, EIO, MFR, Immersive Engineering etc. to make a single mod that can do it all without redundancies or microcrafting or integration related 'muh baluns' give-a-fucks.

>>170364896
>when I have to deal with a dozen versions of the same ore that are functionally identical
Any mod worth using should have configs to disable those. If you can't spare 10 minutes to choose a few main mods to handle your ore generation and disable the rest of the oregen, you shouldn't bother making packs in first place.
>>170365162
I can and have done that, but the point is I shouldn't have to. Most mods use a unified API for energy, right? So why not the same with ores?
The problem with configs is that they are always obvious or that they don't cover all cases. Maybe you set up your configs just right and you play in a world for a few weeks and never see multiple of the same ore types. But then you decide you're going to use a void ore miner and suddenly you get swamped with several different versions of lead ore because someone, somewhere is a fucking retard.

I think it's because Forge didn't want to add things to become the base of anything else, until they went and added Forge Energy anyway.
>>170365637
>I think it's because Forge didn't want to add things to become the base of anything else
The entire point of Forge was always intercompatibility. That's the whole reason it was created in the first place. However, most additions of this kind are really controversial among modders.
Even the original proposal of Forge Energy created back in 2014 by immibis has modders arguing about how it should work and if it should even exist:
https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/issues/1482
Because of the weather mod, the wind ruins the fountain effect of this.
>>170366406
I think Forge Energy is a good idea because it means as a modder I don't have to write my own energy system, and as a player I don't have to install a dozen different energy systems used by all the different mods meaning less bloat for me. Some mods like IC2 use their own beautiful unique snowflake energy, and that's OK I guess.
That's kinda what I'm getting at with the whole ore thing. There are dozens (not an exaggeration, either) of copper ores added by different mods. Why not have one unified system and if you want to use copper in your mod you can simply install enable that ore in the config.
What would make it even better is if you could create new ores dynamically. If your mod added some new ore called Snowflakium, the unified ore mod could generate an ore based on your idea given whatever colors you want it to have. Then it would generate blocks, ingots, nuggets, dusts, etc. That way, even if no one has ever heard of your unique snowflake mod, every machine ever written will still know how to handle it.
I really enjoy Mekanism. The ore quintupling is really fun to set up and rewarding. However, Mekanism doesn't even handle half the ores in any given modpack because it isn't written to handle every possible ore. With this system, Mekanism could handle every ore without any special coding; writing it to handle a single ore would mean that it can handle EVERY ore.
Is there a small mod somewhere that just adds forestry electric engines. I don't want to add all of forestry for just that.
>>170369089probably not
The lumen faggot tree continues to grow.
>>170369089
Depending on what other mods you are using, you may already have a way to convert between EU and RF. Mekanism's cables do it automatically, MFR rednet cables does, Immersive Engineering does. Galacticraft aluminum wires. Extra Utilities transfer nodes.
To answer you question directly: Power Converters mod.

>>170371950
AOBD is certainly on the right track. The problem with AOBD is that if some new mod added a new ore all the other mods would still not know how to handle it because it doesn't dynamically create these things. The AOBD dev would have to add it in manually and as far as I can tell the mod is no longer being developed so there goes that.
>>170372601
I'm pretty sure that AOBD generates all ore shit and adds its to all kinds of ore processing machines dynamically as of a rather old version.
>>170372854
Well then I stand corrected.
AOBD solves the problem of different unique ores playing nicely with other machines but does nothing to alleviate the issue of having a dozen different kinds of the same ores and ingots in the first place.

There's nothing inside it yet except a chest and a tunnel down. I'm really bad at this game.Seriously though, I'm making a modpack and tweaking things in Modtweaker. I hate how you have to import every single item to figure out its proper name.
Alright, let's see what this does.
Need your help with something in FTB.
Every fifth minute, I need to emit a constant redstone signal for one minute, before switching off for another five minutes & ad infinitum.

>>170380623
Looks like it doesn't do a damn thing.
>>170381024
Could just take a while to work?
Might only effect the chunk's biomes instead of directly purifying the blocks. In that case you wouldn't see a difference immediately, you would have to exit and boot your world up again for it to update the chunks visually. Also if it is changing the chunks you could see it in the debug screen, with out having to reboot your world.
That's just my guess though.

>>170383675
And the one after was somehow even easier.
>>170383835
>>170380960
You could probably do this with Botania's hovering hourglass. Set one to 5 minutes (5 soul sand) and another to 1 minute. When the 5 minute hourglass flips over it will emit a redstone signal which you can send to two pulse mana spreaders, one to turn on the 1 minute hourglass and one to turn off the 5 minute hourglass. At this time set up your redstone signal to turn on via a sticky piston pushing a redstone block in to place, or whatever. When the 1 minute hourglass flips over, it will need to send a pulse to itself to be turned off and to the 5 minute hourglass to turn back on. Your piston should now retract the redstone block and turn off the redstone signal.
>>170381001
RF encouraged boring and generic mods, but not being built in it didn't still practically enforce it.
Lemming didn't even really want it in Forge, but Lex's autism prevailed.
>>170384187
I wonder how many more levels til we get to the goodie?
>>170384234
How do you figure? Having an easy to use energy system doesn't make your mod boring, making a boring mod does. Having your own unique energy system doesn't make your mod any more interesting, either.
>>170384772
Interestingness arises from making multiple completely incompatible systems work together through fiddly.
If everything works together off the bat, there can be no fiddly.
It's not a matter of the individual mods being interesting, it's how they play together.
It's why tekkit classic was one of the best packs.
>>170384925
If your mod is only "interesting" because it doesn't play nice with others and you have to jump through hoops to get them to interface properly, it isn't an interesting mod.
>>170385092
When did anyone ever say that the individual mod shouldn't have interesting content?

>It's not a matter of the individual mods being interesting, it's how they play together.
You, 9 minutes ago.
>>170384473
That one was the most trickiest by far.
>>170385623
This is really hard to word if you don't understand there are multiple kinds of interesting.
The boring made by compatibility has nothing to do with the mods on their own.
A playthrough with one mod designed to be compatible with other mods not in the pack is interesting.
A playthough with mods that all have an orgy of compatibility is boring because nothing feels different.
Just go play tekkit classic and compared it to the feel of modern modpacks.
>>170385838
There it is, there's the goodie.
Is there a way to make that a removed mod block is replaced with stone and not with air?
>>170387423
Use MCEdit to replace the block with stone before you remove the mod.
>>170386041
news flash; Tekkit Classic is (was?) a kitchen sink. I tried to make a pack approximating the contents of Tekkit/Technic in 1.2.5. It's hard to find mods from 1.2.5 these days. It is a mishmash. EE2, Thaumcraft, IC2, Buildcraft, EE2. The progenitor of more stuff to do more stuff.
Nothing back then was nicely meshed together. A mod worked with everything in itself, and maybe it worked with others in certain ways. Like Buildcraft or RedPower being able to move stuff around for IC2. But there weren't any Thaumcraft add-ons. I don't recall any 'magic' mods of note other than TC2, EE2 notwithstanding. There wasn't anything more to work with.
Frankly the most interesting interaction was abusing Blazerators. You had behaviour from EE2 working with IC2 and that stuff has to move around so you either use pipes via BC or tubes via RP. And then I dunno use Railcraft to cart blaze powder around.
Trying to compare Tekkit Classic to modern modpacks is not a comparison of different elements. It's a measurement of evolution over time.

>>170389169
Sure it is. A long time ago I played a modpack with rotarycraft and reactorcraft in it but then I decided they were utter dogshit and not worth existing anymore. Reactorcraft adds fucktons of useless ores and I used MCEdit to replace every one of them in the entire minecraft world with stone before removing them. It was a fairly simple process, as I recall. You don't have to find and replace all of them individually.

Hexxit is the only real "adventure" modpack in existence because adventure modpacks take a shitload of effort to make.
To make one, use mods from hexxit, as well as stuff like recurrent complex, a dynamic worldgen mod that supports the addition of many kinds of structures.

Oh yeah I'm familiar with it. Used to make a quest where a bunch of witches in the forest have a pigman trapped in a cage. You hear about this from a village, they say that there are some foul heresies going on in a witch grove.
If you ask them about the pigman they'll say it's a pig they gave sentience to after some ritual. Ask the pig though, and he'll say he was a villager kidnapped from the village you received the quest from and is slowly being transformed into a pig by the evil witches. This makes sense until you remember that the village makes no mention of anyone from their place being kidnapped.
Although pigmen are not the only half-men you will encounter, some are civilized so it technically counts as keeping someone locked up against their will without any cause.

For your question, I'm assuming you don't want to use pressure plates or tripwires. But you can use block update detectors and redstone ore. If you put a BUD next to a redstone ore block, it'll turn on because the ore will light up when you step on it. Of course this depends on what version you are playing, Mojang usually fixes any BUDs because no fun allowed.

Recurrent complex has some worldedity building tools and also does worldgen and stuff, you've already got rougelike dungeons, so it seems a good fit.
Signpicture allows you to replace signs with pictures from internet, basically making custom paintings, it looks like it'd be good for your pack.
Since you're supposedly in it for building, and meme versions have c&b, no bully for that.

>I'd rather build an actually entertaining power source like an icey jew nuclear reactor
But that's just because you're a humorless shitbag. Making systems to manufacture food is fun. The bloat of seeds, crops and saplings isn't even that bad.

There are aspects of RTG that look really nice like the trees. I fucking love the tall trees that are grouped tightly such that they actually resemble a forest.
But the flattish plains between the mountains does bore me. If there were more variation/sudden height differences I would like RTG a lot more. I like building on and into weird terrain like that.
>>170469023

While it happens in Prague, you literally seeNothing. Prague is pretty beautiful, I'm sure I wouldn't catch the beauty of the city with my building skills.
Intro summary:
>You did some ritual at home, in Prague, to stop an ancient evil(â„¢). Failed big time.
>You barely remember what happened during said ritual.
>The entire fucking city is gone save your house.
>There's a road that leads to a castle
>You start with no weapons and food is relatively relevant for the first half of the game. Be careful.
>Dare you enter my magical realm?
>Find notes and books, or talk to strange-looking npcs to figure out what's going on in there.
And that's where the game begins.
Then there's the expansion pack.
>Find another road leading to an abandoned town.
>Play Sherlock holmes and guess what happened there.
Then the second expansion.
>At the end of the town, there is another flying castle.
>Find out why the fuck is that castle there and what it represents.
>Use the clues to save or doom someone.
Then there's the halloween expansion with a spooky forest, an old mine, and an egyptian tomb. There are multiple endings, perhaps one of them should involve going back to Prague, but it would take a lot of timeand it would be purely Aesthetic. But so far I think it'stoo much work and there's no one else to build, the others have been gone for years
This sure is a pretty strong cyclone.

>mods used to add simple items with simple crafting recipes

>mods need their own wikis and special NEI plugins for you to know how to do anything

>>170499678
its a rough idea but yeah, stuff like destroying the environment or killing 'innocent' mobs would give minus karma and planting trees, breeding animals or building villager housing would increase karma. get too much bad karma and the forces of nature (such as trees that come alive) try to kill you and if your too much of a goody two shoes powerful 'zombie hit squads' will hunt you

tl;dr at bottom :)
Hi /mcg/
So I returned about a month ago to Minecraft (I hadn't played since 1.2.5) and have been having lots of fun building shit and blowing it up, exploring, and killing shit. Unfortunately, I think Vanilla has just about hit its limit for me - I made a huge-ass gate that plays music with the new redstone things, explored the new End and Nether, and played around a little bit with the new Command Blocks. I never did any modding back when I used to play, but it seems like there's a lot of content I could have fun with. I come to y'all seeking guidance.
I'm looking for mods that:
>Breathe new life into vanilla content
I've noticed some things that seem lacking, like a lack of decorative blocks in different materials (marble fences/walls, more wool colors, different wood crafting tables and chests) or maybe more variety in the nether.
>Rekindle a sense of discovery
The immediate wonder upon first seeing the cubic hills around me has dulled, and exploring new terrain or making new discoveries would bring some of the simple joy of playing back to me.
>Add more late-game content
Punch tree. Mine stuff. Get diamond. Enchant diamond. Clear underwater temple. Clear forest mansion. Build awesome fortress. Kill Ender Dragon. Kill Wither. Durdle around with more redstone - damn, wireless with glass and arrows doesn't work like it did in 1.2.5. New World. Repeat. I want more! More armor, more bosses, more challenge, more variety!
>Advance redstone to new heights
I'm talking vast automation, factories, machines that mine for me, better stuff-sorting, more transportation (Minecarts have a lot of potential not realized in Vanilla, IMO), stuff I can't even think of, and make it all cooler-looking.
>Let me prettify my world
More colors of wool, different heights of slab, cutting blocks into pieces, giving sheep tattoos (OK, maybe not that)
tl;dr - I've only ever played vanilla, I wanna mod now, help pls?

People just want a giant multiblock to pump full of RF to show off how big their epeen is. The only other options are Ender IO and Zetta batteries and both of those can cause lag if not done correctly.

Uhdunno. I heard that when you get up towards the max possible size it can cause lag. Same as with EIO energetic capacitors. But I figured that was just an unavoidable side effect of twisting multiblock structures into weird shapes.
