Bioware could of made the human squad mates more interesting by giving them goals like they did with the aliens.

At their basic core, disregarding their goals, the aliens are pretty basic. Garrus is just a cop that wants to shoot more people, Wrex is a generic rip and tear member of a warrior race, tali is just a smart but awkward tech expert, Liara is just a smart but awkward nerd. But they added goals pertaining to the universe lore which makes these characters a lot more rewarding. I mean other than Garrus, he's still a cop that wants to shoot more people my ME2.

Kaiden and Ashley's struggles seem to be more personal and are not expanded upon much. With Kaiden we could of got something that expanded a lot more upon the biotic programs or something? I don't know what Vega and Ashley's struggles or goals really where other than just being there and following you around.

tl;dr it's not humans that are inherently uninteresting, it's just Biowares lack of effort.

Also, if we're going by lore that is presented to us, Humans in the ME universe have the most vast culture when compared to what we know of each alien races culture. We have so many religions, different ethnicity's and countless customs pertaining to different continents. The aliens must be so fucking confused.

Why the fuck would the Quarians want to go to Andromeda? They can't colonize planets there any easier than they could in the Milky Way, and there's no way to send potential new resources or tech back without it taking hundreds of years.

They have literally no reason to go except wanting to discover shit, and considering how insular and dependent upon it's population the Quarians are, I can't imagine they would be willing to send 20k off on a sightseeing tour for the fun of it.

So what are the various species based on? I know in the various art books they talk about how some species take design from Earth animals (Krogan = Turtles/Reptiles, Turians = Birds/Dinos, Hanar = Jellyfish, etc.), so what are the others based on? Specifically Batarians and Asari, and possibly Angara if there's any info on them about that yet.
