Second, why the changing/inconsistent classes? Like, Perne has Colm listed as an Archer for some reason. And Virion has Setsuna as a Thief. And Gale has Belka listed as a Fighter. There are more, too.

Third, I've always thought Pieri and Belka would have a good support. But otherwise it's hard to imagine must-be supports for characters that don't appear with each other. Maybe Ike and Farina as fellow mercenaries? And Mordecai and Ranulf would definitely support, but I assume you have them empty for a reason.

That's the class they pass through the support rather than their true class. Like in Fates, if their primary classes overlap, they instead inherit secondary classes.

I like each of those suggestions though, I'll mess around with them as options. Peri is a particular sticking point for me as I can't find good fits for her, and honestly I'd love to get the Fates cast some more supports with other games in general.

How hard is it to kill lategame enemies? Will I be able to hold my own in chapter 19 for example or will I need to try to assassinate the boss?

Also I've heard that enemies prefer to kill summons over living units, does that take precedence even over killing lords?

For me magic was more about exploiting weaknesses than destroying everything. It was nice to have thunder against dragons/wyverns, fire against beasts and wind against pegasus/birds.

I also thought magic was good for the traditional reason of being able to go in close vs. archers and go in far vs. melee.

But otherwise I agree with you completely. Magic was a bit weaker in RD and Micaiah, in spite of her speed flaws, was probably the most useful.
