How strong is this Ardyn guy?
Every image of him I see, he just seems like some normal, although tipper, kind of guy. He doesn't have this aura of an antagonist like seph, tree, or the witch from ff8.

The boss fight before him is harder. As long as you have like 25 Elixirs and 2 Phoenix Down by the time you get to him there's no way you can die. His powers are pretty much on par with Noctis's, in fact they're almost identical.

The only thing non-stackable TMs do is prevent you from equipping more than one of the same ability. The same effect from different sources (espers, abilities, equipment whatever) have always stacked and will always stack.

Global doesn't allow the stacking of Doublehand materias. This means that you can only equip one Doublehand materia to a character. It will stack with whatever natural Doublehand effects they come with, and will probably stack with Cloud's TMR when we get him in 7 months or so.

Enhancements make Lightning hit a good bit harder with her Crushing Blow, but she still sucks at chaining with it due to its awkward timing. Also, it grants a pretty excellent -75% lightning resistance, and soon after her enhancements will come Grom, who's TMR is lightning analogue of Excalibur. She returns to general usability with this, but she still is a bad chainer, and so she's not gonna compare to Orlandeau and his peers.

Non-TMR? Only if we get the New Years' sword that JP got, the 109 ATK Lohengrin. It was for the 2017 new year's, so absolutely no idea when we'd get an analogue to that. If it comes at 2018, it'd be pretty far behind.

As far as TMRs go we already have Delita's Moonblade (Dark element) and Randi's Mana Blade. Upcoming TMR swords would belong to Camille (90 ATK, water element, 3* base), Killing Machine (105 ATK, machine killer, time-limited 4* base), and Tidus (135 ATK, water element, 5* base).

The question that needs to be asked for every late-game team construction is "Do I have Ramza?"
Enhanced Ramza is the machine that perfects Tilith or Ayaka. If you don't have him, then two of Cupid Luna's TMR will go a long way to shoring her up, but puts a little strain on Tilith as she has to handle the team's MP recovery too.

In any case, you'd further want Tilith's own TMR or a Ribbon so she can't be put out of business, and perhaps a Camouflage from the FP Montana so as to raise her to 125% untargetable. After that, it's pure convenience.

With only a minor outfitting of +SPR equipment, Enhanced Ramza erupts with so much MP every turn that nobody needs support in that category. Yes, I'm pretty sure he himself, but Hero's Rime is a mere 20 MP and his innate auto-refresh would cover its cost in 3 turns even if it didn't. There's no chance of him running out of MP. Combining Ramza and Tilith is essentially a perfect combination, your only weakness is instantaneous defeat (which Rikku can help with) or status effects (get TMRs to fix those).

So yes, a status immunity would help for Ramza, even though he comes with 50% resistance to all afflictions. Being petrified sucks.

While a team of Rikku/Ayaka/Roy would technically be better than a team of Rikku/Tilith/Ramza, the difference is so small that nobody will notice or care. Both will perfectly clear any content you throw at them.
