As a recent example, our parent company Marvelous put out a game called NetHigh for Vita in Japan not too long ago where the gameplay focused on solving puzzles a la the Ace Attorney games, but instead of solving cases in a courtroom you’re trying to reveal the true identity of people on the internet. Our hopes of being able to localize it were quickly dashed once we realized that most of the puzzles were based on Japanese puns and wordplay using written kanji characters which often have multiple meanings. Seeing that it also had a lot of text displaying from top to bottom rather than our way of reading from left to right sealed its fate of definitely not coming to the West.

Root Letter has multiple endings but they all are incredibly similar to one another.
You can also infer where the true end of things are going by the end of one route.

The initial run will take around 7 hours if you're slow, and every run after will take 1. Root Letter will last you a max of 15 hours if you're lagging behind on the PLAT.

Meanwhile VD's story takes around five hours for normal, but has additional content to do in other game modes. The plat for it is insanely grindy too so I gave up after seventy hours.

So vitagen. I had a weird idea. I normally hate kickstarter, but it seems like the only way to make something like this happen.

I wanted to create a compilation series of original low-budget horror games from around the world. Lots from Asia in particular. Get something like 5-10 developers to participate per entry, and divide up something like 500mb to each developer and six months to use to make a game. The theme is simple -- using any gameplay mechanics you want, to make a game as creepy/scary as possible.

For example, the first list of developers might be NIS (since they've shown they can make a low-budget horror game), the DreadOut devs (indonesia), Tamsoft (because they have a huge boner for low-budget compilation projects), the Lone Survivor dev, and GrisGris so they can make something other than fucking Corpse Party.

Of course it'd be vita-exclusive (but we'd let the respective developers do whatever they want with their own games).
