One thing I noticed in my Persian playthrough is that Persian and Azeri pops (or perhaps all Shia pops) actually have a preference when migrating to oversea colonies. They first go to colonies within the Middle East, then they go to Europe, then Asia and finally Africa. Zanzibar ended up 5% Greek without a single Persian/Azeri/Hazara, while Kwangchow actually went as far as 10% Persian, but immigration to my Chinese ports only actually kicked off when I turned my share of Tajikstan into a state, and then stopped for about 5 years when I took North Caucasia from Russia. After that, they started flooding in the treaty ports once again.
Also, how did you successfully civilize Egypt and Sudan? Egypt only westernize late game for me while Sudan remained primitive.

As the other guy said, CK2 is all about installing dynasty members in everything around you. Your ultimate goal, as an example, can be to establish a dynasty rule over France and Byzantium, or maybe cultivate your family conservatively so half of them have the genius/quick traits. Shared prestige is prestige that decreases every time a country gets some of the prestige. When a country discovers that invention, they get the current value, then the value is cut in half. Repeat until the current value is 1, where it doesn't get cut in half anymore.

Army doctrine's worth will vary heavily depending on whether you're planning to mainly attack or defend though.

Yeah, that picture is probably a good guide for army tech.
You absolutely never want to be behind on tactics compared to your enemies. For every level of tactics you're behind, you do 1/2 damage and take 2x damage. This is why China gets shit on so hard by every Euro country despite outnumbering them 10-1.
The next most important stat is artillery support, if you're a major power that can pay for cannons. Artillery becomes the workhorse of your armies after about the middle of the column.
Anything that gives ORG or infantry defense is pretty nice to have, so your meatshields can stay alive longer and keep the cannons safe. Along with that, mobilization size increases/mobilization impact decreases are pretty nice for when you need bodies to guard the big guns.
The left-most column is nice for general stat increases and especially forts, but that's less critical than tactics/artillery support.
The small arms column is only good for the inventions. Engineers are useful, and breechloaded rifles/machine guns let you colonize the darkies.

-Fabricate for Bosnia around when you think Egypt will break from Turks and ally Austria, as soon as Egypt breaks away use Austria to get it from them. Is Riga in a trade league with HRE princes? If so, you can declare on Riga as a pretext to annex some North German princes.
Take Scotland, break alliance with England in favor of someone useful like France, Austria, or Bohemia, start eating England.
Once you can 1v1 the HRE (I'm assuming Austria is the Emperor) repeatedly invade HRE princes to force Austria to respond. You can keep killing them with separate peace deals that will burn prestige, manpower, and drive their WE sky high. Then you can eat the HRE at your leisure.
Fair warning, beating up Austria and Russia will give you a huge Ottomans if they aren't already. Be ready to contain them.

Except you can go full Napoleonmode, you just have to do it lategame after the admin efficiency techs and Imperialism gets unlocked. Get Diplo ideas for the -warscore cost on provinces too. The biggest limiter becomes OE because warscore cost per provinces drops faster than OE reduction from admin efficiency.
Then get Influence and Admin ideas for 45% less vassal annex costs and go make some client states.
Lategame EU4 is fun, you just have to be willing to fight half the world if you've blobbed really big.

also reducing core cost and culture change costs will help you to change the colors of your multiple maps in good fashion.

ideas should be administrative , offensive. religious or humanistic. quantity, exploration first if you re going to be a colonial nation. after that pick what you need.
remember to always have the maximum amount of horses/infantry your nation can maintain.and after you have 20 k of infantry/horses you start spamming artillery
learn how to use forts and you should own the game.
