The (fake) backstory of the gophel plan was that they were either preserving talent for humanity or colonizing another planet. This means that the girls basically would have to get pregnant and be pregnant constantly by all the boys to ensure the largest non-related population possible.Which means that the girls have to deal with that, and the boys have to deal with taking care of/helping out eight pregnant women at the same time and the already born kids.

Sounds like hell for everyone involved but also kind of hot.

Chapter 4 was basically one idiot versus all of the other idiots, sure he fucked up and it's hard to believe Gonta is the killer because of how hard he's crying but everyone denying Ouma's irrefutable evidence that he can't have killed her is hardly better. They weren't even trying to counter him, they were basically arguing their feelings couldn't be wrong without even knowing the context behind the murder.

That's true but what I really loved about this story was how much it goes into the truth versus lie theme. You're clearly expecting something sweet based on Saihara's inner conflict and think he's going to confess and Miu will be delighted, but if you reflected on how comfortable Saihara was like with Kaede there was to me just the slightest bit of foreshadowing that things aren't going to end happily.

I liked the ending. Though the cast were still alive, those dead in the game were in a kind of 'eternal limbo' state with it not being clear if they could be revived or not. Meanwhile, Hajime and the rest had to pick up the pieces and try to live a life accounting for the things they did as Despairs and was interesting to speculate how they would do it.

Then DR3 happened.
Also 2.5 happened, which made the stuff in DR3 seem a little less stupid. (just a little, though I do like that they left Nagito as the last guy they got out. Even Teruteru got priority over him)

DR has always been something of a mystery game, and NDRV3 intentionally makes you play as the detective. Not only are the cases much harder, if you studied the promo materials and noticed the contradictions beforehand (Such as how Kaede says she's the protagonist but none of the DR protagonists have ever introduced themselves like that before) you would already know the plot twist of chapter 1 simply because you didn't fall for a lie just because it's convenient to believe it.

Now, fast forward to chapter 6. Even though you know basically nothing about characters like Amami and Ouma, Kiibo is way more dangerous than you thought and you have no clue what the killing game was for, suddenly you're told that everyone signed up willingly, the world is at peace, billions of people love DR, everything's fiction, everyone's memories and talents are completely fake and bla bla, and some of the audience comments support that since they say stuff like 'Kirigiri is my waifu'.

You could in theory turn off the game and dismiss everything as fake so why bother, but doesn't such an explanation sound too convenient to you and easy to accept just because you know DR is fiction to you? Kind of like a lie?

A number of anons have speculated that the real state of DR's world might now be a dystopia or dictatorship, and if you've read works like 1984 governments can take brainwashing, lies and propaganda to the point convincing the audience that this very brutal game designed to get rid of social rejects/criminals being fiction would be child's play as long as no one escapes to tell the truth.

I'm not doing damage control for Kodaka and the plot twist pisses me off too, but just as how Naegi and co couldn't find out the truth about their world by locking themselves up, Saihara and co must find that out as well. That part is not up for debate, we're just as clueless as them and dropping the series entirely when you don't know how much of what was said is real is the same as abandoning the search for truth.

Also, consider this line from our resident liar and madman:
If you deceive the entire world, it becomes “reality”… and being “reality” is not necessarily always a good thing, is it?

That's basically the point of propaganda, if you repeat a lie enough times and make it convincing you can in theory fool the entire world and they'd be none the wiser.

I haven't ruled out the possibility that Kodaka is that much of a hack though (As much as it annoys me, this may also be the truth). The problem is the world-building he presented is a boring one that's also absolutely impossible to win, while the dystopia one is hypothetically possible and the meta mind-screw puts it one level above those, since you'd actually have to be careful not to get fooled as well.
