Has anyone pointed out that a SHIELD mod for XCOM2 would be perfect? I mean, goddamn, you already have the Helicarrier. Replace aliens with super powered thugs and Advent with hired goons.

Your Psi operatives are already super powered beings, just need more superpower types (a pyro type that shoots flames in a cone, a fly type that does what the icarus armor does, etc). There's already a boss encounter system.

Sure, there's a teeny problem of Marvel possibly suing the modders. In which case, you scrub all mention of Marvel IP and make it a generic superhero mod.
>>
Does Opportunist work in EW?

Squadsight says only headshot gives critical chance, while Opportunist says that it allws for overwatch criticals.
>>
>>169045846
Overwatch can only proc within visual range, therefore is not subject to the squadsight crit penalty.
>>
>>169045846
>>169046079
I'm not sure, but what I do know is that you can overwatch from squadsight with opportunist in vanilla (not Long War).
>>
Is it possible to make a psi class mod that doesn't use the psi amp?
>>
>>169046168
Oh yeah you're right I just checked the wiki.

It's kind of a waste to take in EW but not an awful choice.
>>
>>169044868
Thats what I usually do in lw2 as I did with lw1. Swap any causalities with the next in line.
>>
>>169046079
>Overwatch can only proc within visual range

I know, but I'm asking if an enemy only seen with squadsight and has opportunist will crit or is it only within the regular non-squadsight range.

Because if the latter I'd rather go with opportunist.
>>
>>169046889
>Because if the latter I'd rather go with opportunist.

with executioner*
>>
>>169046889
A shot in EW will not crit at squadsight range without headshot, period.

One of the changes that EW makes I disagree with. I like how LW handled it (flat -20% to crit chance) over EW.
>>
>>169046692
I don't see how overwatch shots that always hit are a waste. In fact considering how good sniper aim is, I think it's much better than executioner in vanilla, as you are really only getting the crit, not the aim.
>>
>>169045846
I think you could crit from squadsight overwatch in EU, but they might've fixed it in EW.

>>
>>169049972
Thanks matey. Sectopods will fucking kill your solo soldier campaign without extreme luck (which I had) or researching everything so fast you get the Overseer shootdown before September btw.
>>
>>169050645
What build did you use for your sniper? I haven't got a chance to watch yet.
>>
>>169050857
>>169050857
I used Training Roulette and ground out a sniper with good aim and the following perks
Headshot
Snap Shot
Opportunist
Rapid Reaction
Bring Em On
Resilient (HEAT ammo would've been ideal but required much more careful play)
In the Zone

...I also turned on one Second Wave option: Absolutely Critical.

Once I got mimetic skin, the game devolved to sprint to high cover -> overwatch a pod for 1/2 free crit kills -> either break LOS and re-cloak, or flank, ItZ the last enemy, and THEN re-cloak.
>>
>>169050857
Also, International Service Cross (+2 aim per continent bonus) and especially Council Medal of Honor (+10 aim and crit when 10 tiles from friendly units) are amazingly useful, CMoH is basically a free upgraded SCOPE.
>>
>>169053158
How did you get through the base defense?
>>
>>169053579
It's already up. I just sorta carelessly dropped people in the meatgrinder because I couldn't be assed. Cleared out my barracks nice and neat though!

https://youtu.be/Y4imQnVyaPQ

Honestly the only really cool mission in the run is whichever you watch first and then the Temple Ship Assault. It's not very tactically interesting, which is why I'm using it to learn how to do this whole commentary thing. The rookies-only Ironman Impossible is gonna be much more coherent.
>>
>>169053579
Speaking of "tactically interesting", Seekers only cloak for like 5 or 6 moves. Once you find them on a mission, book it for the nearest map edge and let them chase you until you hear them un cloak and then waste em.

Seeker Autopsy is dank as fuck, because you get Respirator Implant and also Meme Skin out if it.

New to long wars in XCOM 2, mind giving me some tips that I should start with? Weapon or classes I should skip like in vanilla or perhaps priority I should have at the beginning so it won't bite me in the ass later down the line.
>>
>>169062829

Put everyone on your starting haven on intel

If you can't get infiltration at 100% just don't do the mission
>>
>>169062965

Also, I would like to know if Long war mod have its glitches fix or should I start downloading a shit loads of glitch fix also. Currently I only have:

Long Wars
Capnbubs accessories
A few character pools creation
Free rotation
stop wasting my time
evac all
overwatch all
>>
>>169064457
Long War already has free rotation in its toolbox.
>>
Are Supply Raids supposed to be this hard in LW2? On Commander and I go in with my best guys and the pods patrol so close that I barely kill the first one before 2 more come in and fuck me. Is it skippable or is it worth losing a few guys over?

What infiltration should I try hitting with this because I've heard people say you should do it swarming but it's literally impossible with the troops I have now, and I have low intel so I'm trying to do it without boosting 73%.
>>
I had to reinstall my game because I fucked up my ini file.

Is LW2 still a fucking buggy mess or is it at all playable?
>>
>>169066171
i haven't seen a lot of bugs but it's still unplayable all the same
>>
Expansion When?

Also, what do you think an expansion could flesh out or add to the game/ hope they would add? Personally I would like a rework of the timer/concealment system or just add more mission types without timers. I like having to work within a timer, but I also miss regular missions where I could take my time and search a map for bad guys.
>>
>>169067938
I think adding more mission types without timers would be pretty reasonable, just like how EW adds some different mission types into the mix.
More aliens is pretty obvious, but still good. No more ADVENT unless they decide they want some crazy stuff. Tygan needs a mission out in the field.

Do you mean recruits as in troops? You can recruit for 10 moneys at your barracks. The haven recruiting is an uncertain way to get troops. You sometimes get troops and sometimes get haven recruits. Also you could try doing the hostage rescue missions (there's usually 2 hostages/troops per mission). I've gotten many fighters from those.

I've come to a realization... I prefer the maps in XCOM 1

Anybody else feel this way?

I know that XCOM2's superior in that it has random, procedurally generated maps that allow for infinite variety, but man... it just doesn't end up looking good at all for me.

XCOM 1 had maps that looked natural and were well-crafted and just seemed like actual locations. You had real-looking highways, subway stations, city blocks with department stores, etc. One map was a fast food burger joint. You'd see the back kitchen, and the dining area, and the parking lot outside. It felt like a real place.

And who could forget the spooky whaling mission from Enemies Within, with the wooden pier deco and snow and whales?
In XCOM 2, I'm going by some futuristic office building with redundant sci-fi tiles everywhere and weird alien blocks and lamps outside. And usually a lot of red holofield barriers everywhere. It feels a lot more boring to me somehow. There's no real character to the map, if that makes sense.
>>
>>169103145
The only thing that's superior in BF4 is the map paracel storm.

I like xcom 1 maps more because there isn't as much cover. You really need to think about the next spot you take and there might be no escape if something goes wrong.

In xcom 2 you have dozens of possibilities. You don't need to think as much about your plays, which is boring, because it reduces the tactical part. And that's the most fun part in xcom.
>>
>>169104106
Just download the suffer map packs from the workshop.
>>
>>169064732
Try and infiltrate as much as you can, no point in immediately rushing in unless you can't help it (like 3hr timers). You can always boost your infiltrate if needed, if you have your haven set to intel only you can sometimes get like 5+ day timers on supply raids. Yes, they are supposed to be hard but they are cruical for stopping ADVENT movement to your region. I almost never skip them unless my current mission takes priority (liberation).
>>
>>169103272

No way fag.
>>
>>169083326
So what your saying is your entire Valkyrie squad looks like cloned waifus.

>>169085740

Bruh your infiltrate for solo shinobi should easily exceed 125%. Extremely Light, grab a smoke grenade and plan your routes accordingly. I typically call skyranger right outside the cache, throw a smoke ontop of me and the objective then skyranger takes 1 turn to get there after the hack.

It's risky as fuck but doable even on L/I.

Alternate is shinobi scout with spec hacker to range that shit and ghost walk the fuck out bro.

Play however you want to bro. Learn the new mechanics and tactics and git gud before trying Ironman Legend.

I imagine 99% of the reason people bitch about LW2 is because they never learned the game and started immediately on Legend and complain shit is hard. I recommend at least Veteran though, it's a good balance of challenging times and easy progress through the campaign. Always infiltrate to atleast +100% to make the mission more manageable, longer timers for the objective and faster evacs. Don't supply the haven unless you have outted the Faceless or it'll be a waste of a month. Don't skip objectives that say "Find a Lead" with intel as a reward, that's liberation 1. Afterwards you'll get Rescue a VIP, liberation 2. After that it's pretty obvious what the next liberation missions are (they say Liberate: words). The ADVENT tower mission, Liberation 4, is hard as fuck without a good squad. Disable the computer as fast as possible and pew the ayys for the 2 free turns. Liberation 5 is liberation of the region, plan accordingly. At least 30+ ADVENT on a heavily guarded base, plus a General. Liberate the region, but at least expand out before doing so or your game is done, in a bad way.

>>
>>169103109
I just use the base LW2 ones. I don't see a point personally on having too many classes as managing a good squad of the 8 or so base classes pretty difficult later on. But I also haven't really looked into the mod classes too much, seeing how what I have seen can be accomplished by other classes already (Rogue/Shinobi)

Probably continue operations as normal but taxed by ADVENT for their own supply gain. Or they would convince them to distribute drugs to make the population more docile to help cease rebel occupation.

Cartels might be manipulated during initial stages of the invasions, but they are way to independent of an organization to tolerate once the ADVENT administration really gets going.

As far as I can tell, anything that's not located in the ADVENT super cities is extremely suspect, let alone a criminal organization that smuggles and traffics items that ADVENT doesn't want any citizens possessing.

XCOM 1 you're constantly worried about the ayys getting the drop on you, and you're always under the threat of a bunch of thin mints or other enemies just dropping in behind you.
XCOM 2 you're the one getting the drop on the aliens most of the time thanks to infiltration, and timers make things feel less suspenseful and more urgent. The actual themes of the games are a bit different too of course.

What missions can be stealthed?
>>
>>169120074
The vast majority of them. Prison breaks, hack something, recover an item, etc.
>>
>>169120074
Almost all that don't have the objective of killing something. You can solo/two man most stealth based missions easily.
>>
>>169120234
>>169120463

But how do you vet your soldiers if you don't fight?
>>
>>169120627
LW2 gives much higher missions reward xp and less xp for killing stuff. The mission xp is also split I believe, so smaller squads will get a bigger cut for each individual soldier.
Also, with the infiltration mechanic, many times you don't have time to deploy a big squad, or even a medium squad. But if you send 1 or 2 people, you can complete mission you would have never taken in the first place.
>>
Fresh OC here, soloed Operation Avenger on Enemy Within on Classic Ironman with one trooper. No cuts or any bullshit, all one clean take.

>>
>>169120996
>The mission xp is also split I believe, so smaller squads will get a bigger cut for each individual soldier.
The optimal squad size is three people, actually. The way mission XP is divided is that there's a base amount of mission XP that is divided by 3, or the number of people on the mission, whichever is larger. If you take 1 or two soldiers, they still only get 1/3rd of the mission XP, meaning you should generally take 3 if you can handle it (hiding three people can be hard on stealth missions, it gets tricky).

I literally just take existing class mods and edit them so they work with LWPP/LW2.
It's not even hard to do, all I'm doing is adding a few lines of code to create a third tree.

A: Sorry to interrupt, but just start with Normal. We don't have easy difficulties in this mod that hold your hand while you learn the ropes and we've removed every bit of code we can find that cheats for the player on the lower difficulties. It's going to be hard. The other difficulties are just harder versions of Normal; feel free to move up when you get a handle on all the new mechanics.

Look at Joinrbs LW I/I win if you want to understand how to play the Airgame.

DO NOT PLAY ON IRONMAN. Just play with Honestman. Your save will get corrupted and you will lost fucking EVERYTHING. And no, if it is corrupted there is literally nothing you can do. If you INSIST on playing with Ironman actually on, you literally neeed to back up your save file every 2nd mission or so.

Play with Commanders Choice. Literally every rookie in your barraks is usable as one class or another. Joinrbs goes into a lot of detail about what he uses his rookies for.

In essence:

Highest AIM should be Snipers. High Mobility, High AIM Scouts. ~14+ Mobility High AIM Rocketeer. Rest of the High Aim Infantry (also good with highish will for officer).

"Balanced" Stats are good for Gunner (they benefit from Aim, but other classes need it more).

High Mobility (Low/SHIT Aim) Assault. Shit Stats, High Will are good Medics (for Psi). Shit-tier soldiers are good Assaults and Engineers. Engineers are actually *very* good the entire game and almost entirely independant of their Aim (cover destruction is OP).

Hidden Potential is a good option to have, because it will give you a better A team, and the soldiers that get completely dicked by level ups are great candidates for MEC's (Infantry/Scouts are amazing MEC's). You don't even *really* benefit from savescuming good stats, since you can just turn the shit troopers into MEC's eventually.

Also, don't play with Ironman enabled.

SHIV.png

>>169158731

Do yourself a favor and build a SHIV or two (preferrably two soon-ish). You don't even need to build them better weapons. They are good for helping you with early missions if you find it hard to keep people alive, and they are life savers when you get swarmed with multiple missions and don't want to start falling into a fatigue spiral.

They are actually Overpowered compared to any other unit early or even midgame, but you don't want to rely on them too much since they soak up some experience from your other soldiers.

That's very true, but you can't deny that the mere aesthetical part of EU/EW's map design beats XCOM 2. The kind of map I'm playing ATM is the worst kind. I hate how everything is "blocky" in the future. Even the fucking trees are cubes.

>>169195270
I really hope it's your phone, because I was super stoked about SweetFX bringing life back to my EW and now it's gone because of you :(
>>
>>169196540
That's intentional though, the blocky trees and futuristic design. It's supposed to contrast with the trees you find in the wilderness areas. Ayys don't have the same aesthetic principles humans do.
>>
>>169196738
Ayys came and raped city architecture with their deplobarble blocky ways.
>>
>>169191978
A big sim city map, and very little direction on what you are supposed to be doing. My knowledge of Apoc is not extenseive, but I would recommend buying up all the conventional weapons and ammo on the market for the machine gun and the auto cannon. The laser rifle sucks, don't bother with it. Ground vehicles are generally useless because they are slow, and unfortunately no matter how much health they have, if the road tile underneath them is destroyed they are automitcally destroyed (rip tanks). Early game the real-time mode definitely makes things less dicey and means the missions can also be completed faster. Honestly the game feels like it was designed with real-time in mind in my opinion. For ariel comabt, buy up all those two-seater bikes for some cheap airpower. UFOs come in waves to drops ayys in buildings, so pay attention to what buildings they hover over for extended periods of time (you can see these white beams come out, which indicate they are dropping aliens in the building). Androids are really strong because they have fantastic base stats and are immune to mind control. You can raid anyone you want in between fighting the ayys, but of course this will make them mad at you. Raiding the Cult of Orsirus is a great way to get some additional cash, and keep them from getting to uppity. Your goal is prevent any organization from getting fullly infiltrated by the aliens (at which point they will start attacking you). Obviously the government, police, and arms manufacturers are the most important to protect. The market adjusts when you sell stuff, so try to sell items in bulk. Also be aware, that when you sell stuff, people in the city are actaully buying it. If you sell off a bunch of high tier alien weapons, don't cry when the Cult picks them up and starts using them against you.
That's all I really got, though your free to ask other questions and some one may be able to help.
>>
>>169156860

In commanders you just set the thresholds you require for each class and from then on a 3-step flowchart can decide your classes for you.
>>
>>169198587
>intentionally gimping yourself
Wow I guess taking more control out of the player's hands was a great idea! Thanks lump!
>>
>>169198587
No it doesn't. I have different builds for different jobs. And good stats are in demand, so I have to decide how many "good" statted soldiers are assinged to which classes. There is no way to get the optimal cookie cutter build for each class, or if you do, you have to sacrifice the strenght of other classes by assigning them soldiers with shit stats. Also some soldiers just have terrible stats period, and no combination of perks will change that. At that point it's just damage control. I have to wonder if you've done commander's choices for LW, but it would be odd if you haven't tried it at least once.

Also everyone has different ideas of exactly what stats are preferable for what class which I find interesting.
Plus alot of people who don't use commander's choice also use strict screening. Which is the actual option that means you "don't want to think about class building," even though that's not true either because you still want more than one build per class for different jobs.
>>
>>169198958
I wasn't aware that second wave is to be treated as a menu where you pick the biggest bonuses you can find.

Not created equally inherently tips the scale in favor of the player. It lets you optimize the fuck out of your soldiers. Random classes counterbalance some of that, but you still end up ahead since even without commanders choice you can avoid most of the drawbacks of NCE and reap most of the rewards.
>>
>>169199381
By the same token you can take strict screening and not have to deal with random soldiers period
>>
>>169188516
>>169189057

wait what How did that happen?
>>
>>169199134
>And good stats are in demand, so I have to decide how many "good" statted soldiers are assinged to which classes. There is no way to get the optimal cookie cutter build for each class, or if you do, you have to sacrifice the strenght of other classes by assigning them soldiers with shit stats.

There are no soldiers with bad stats, there are only soldiers with bad stats in the context of their class. I can't think of a single soldier stat distribution that's mediocre at all classes. Low aim and low mob? Perfect medic. Low aim and low will? Optimal assault. Low aim low health? Good for both medic and engineer. Medium values in all stats? Perfect gunner and earlygame infantry.

Personally I think health should cost a bit more in the random stat formula, but aside from that all soldiers are of equal quality.

I played a bit with CC but I very quickly had a list of what the perfect soldier for each class looks like, and from then on every promotion was trivial, you just put the square peg in the square hole.

>>169199521
Yeah but I like the decisionmaking NCE + no commanders choice involves.
>>
>>169200396
Maybe I'll try playing without CC next time. I'm still not convinced it makes for a more meaningful strategy layer but it's worth trying.
>>
>>169200396
So what do you do with an 11 mobility 60 aim Scout/Sniper?
>>
>>169200396
>There are no soldiers with bad stats
Tell that too soldiers with high defense. Looks like I'll have to go dig up some examples just for you.
>>
>>169200396
As an additional response, the goal of the expanded skill trees in LW1 was certainly partially to account for playing without cc, but you can REALLY see this in LW2, where they made it much more of a focus.
>>
>>169200641
The guy I was responding to was making the case that even with CC he's making tradeoffs because some soldiers are inherently bad so he has to decide what classes get the leftovers. Which is wrong because soldiers are only bad in the context of their class, if you can pick from all classes everyone will be good [probably near-perfect] at something.

Without CC there are bad soldiers, I agree. You roll, you get creative with the build, you go for earlygame perks and chop them later. They're not gonna be as good as the guys who rolled well, but figuring out how to mitigate that is part of the fun.

This discussion can't be resolved because our two hypothetical scenarios simply make one person correct and the other person wrong depending on which scenario you decided to go with.

To resolve this, I'm actually making a real roster right now, which I will then post on /xcg/ for people to make their own rosters with. This should actually help resolve the discussion, and could a fun little project.
>>
>>169202703
I'm not sure where the point of disagreement is..
>>
>>169202989
Whether it's better to play with commander's choice or not.
>>
>>169202989
You are saying that Commander's choice let's you optimize your roster in such a way that everyone is put into a class they they are good in and that you never have to make any decisions with tradeoffs such as putting soldiers with mediocre stats for their class. And I disagree.
> I can't think of a single soldier stat distribution that's mediocre at all classes.
>>
>>169203697
But in that case you don't need a whole roster, just one bad soldier?

I guess having a small class picking game reinvigorate /xcg/ a bit at least..
>>
>>169203985
I suppose, but at the end of the day, you can always just throw a soldier in too the medic class and things might be fine.
But the much more interesting discussion is actual construction of the 40 man roster. Some claims were made, and I would be interested to see if they can be backed up.

Alright, so here is a real lw roster: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17E7R6WNG6sG4vsbZY_eYmCVcoGJvE75C9tCxS0nq0xQ/edit?usp=sharing

I'm just curious what different anons will do with it. I expect a roster made that is trying to win a campaign, which means at least a somewhat equal distribution of classes.

I hope to learn (if any finishes this) what different anons think different stats are best suited for and which classes they think they need more or less of. You don't have to list a build for the classes, but that would be interesting.

Please be kind to other anons and use your own column if you participate.
>>
I'm probably the only one who takes the highest mob soldiers with best aim as secondary consideration and arranges them into one super A-team regardless of class.

Everyone else gets slotted into their role normally, but first draft is the best of the best, one of each class standing as gods among men to carry the toughest missions together and always have a solution.
>>
>>169208915
Well this is the stuff I'm interested to find out. For example Infantry generally get dibs on the best soldiers, and at least one assault is marked to become the best agent possible (15-16 mob). Engineers, Medics and some scouts are generally leftovers in my roster.
>>
>>169208305
What are the benefits of not promoting psi candidate past corporal? I'm not familiar with this concept/ leveling strategy.
>>
>>169209519
max gains, they get more for being psi. 38 will isn't even that great, ideally you do this with 40+ will rookies but having one designee in the roster is a start. train replacement medics in the meantime out of shitty extras.
>>
>>169194372

I'll take the variety of procedural gen over the detail of hand-built, any day of the goddamn week. Especially with how easy it is to add more plots and parcels.
>>
>>169209272
I start with the 5-hp soldiers and assign them to scout [high-aim] and engineer [high-mob], then do the rest. So the polar opposite.

What's a dmr scout?
>>
>>169210435
Not him, but dmr is designated marksman rifle, so those are those scout rifles. Which is funny, because I never use them.
>>
>>169210540
>>169210435
High mob scouts get shotguns, low mob scouts get dmr and stand in for snipers. ideally all scouts are 14+1 or 15+1 mob and you just use shotguns but that roster in particular is unlucky.
>>
I have quick LW question. When you take a continent bonus like Nigeria for example, the soldier's stats will be exactly like a normal roster except for the plus one mobility right? As in, it doesn't change how any other stats are rolled right, because the +1 mobility is essentially free.
>>
wait a second
i cant use my memeobi to complete a download data mission?
is it bugged or something?
theres no objective tile either
>>
>>169211178
I really don't like the dmr since I want all my scouts to be able to fight up close if the situation warrants it. Higher aim scouts get rifles for me.

>>169211721
Does he have a hack score of zero?
>>
>>169211571
Yes. But only if Nigeria is xcom hq
>>
>>169212090
K I made that roster in Nigeria because I might want to play that campaign later and I am addicted to speed, but then I realized it might screw with the stat distributions
>>
>>169211571
Yes.

>>169211810
I tend to give them the dmr because the extra damage is big and it's very easy to overload on shotguns when medics/assaults/engineers can all bring one.

>>169210018
I had never heard of that effect. The psi page just says you get 1-6 extra will per psi rankup. The normal rankup page doesn't list it either.
>>
>>169212182
You made that roster in nigeria? How is there a 11-mob soldier then?
>>
>>169212247
I started giving my medics and engineers rifles more often because I realized that chances I would have a medic close to the enemy or a smoke engi is pretty slim.

>>169212371
Most people don't start in or have starting bonuses to stats to I just put the mobility -1 on every soldier. It is supposed to be a standard LW roster, not a Nigeria one, but I wasn't thinking.
>>
>>169212182

>Selecting options that appear in the in-game menu is cheating
>undoing changes a mod made to your game is cheating

No anon, Lump is the cheater, for cheating XCOM out of legitimately rolled hits.

Seriously though, I hate dodge because it is not a risk management mechanic. Aim is a risk management mechanic - you can maneuver, flank, gear, choose perks, or use explosives to manage and improve your hit chance, and you can use cover, armor, perks, gear (flashbangs), and skills (suppression, hunker, etc) to manage the aliens' hit chances.

Dodge band is a straight % for the game to say "FUCK YOU". While I can understand an argument that nothing should be an absolute certainty in XCOM, that is already reflected in the multitude of other game mechanics present - map generation, enemy composition, enemy behavior, hit chances, damage ranges, crit chances, et cetera.

The point of a tactical game should be for the player to learn how to maximize their chances of success and minimize their chances of failure. Dodge doesn't meaningfully add to the interestingness of gameplay other than a flat chance to, essentially, fail your attack.

It's one thing for it to be present on sneks, since the player can understand "sneks can be unreliable to kill; have a backup plan." But having EVERYTHING be unreliable to kill just makes the game harder for no meaningful gain in engagement or decision making, because having to have a backup plan for *every* attack means the player can't commit to any sort of plan more than one attack ahead.

Did they? I hadn't played vanilla in forever when LW2 came out. What'd they do?

>Dodge band is a straight % for the game to say "FUCK YOU"
Graze band, by default, gives you an extra 10% chance to-hit, turning shots that may have been complete misses into hits. You mitigate the chance of Dodge turning your hits into grazes by boosting your soldier's crit chance, since crit and dodge in LW2 are diametrically-opposed.

It's still risk-management, same as it ever was.

How does ADVENT strength work in LW2 in regards to liberation? From Lib 2 - HQ Assault the strength went from 1 - 5, even after completing 3 supply raids. Was there simply supply raids I didn't see while I was doing the others, or did the liberation just force a strength buff?

Holy shit, third or fourth legend Long War 2 mission. Had to sneak my way using yellow moves just to reach the hack-point in time, forcing me to over extend my engineer just to be able to disarm it.

So they get shot to crap, so I aggressively push my other guys up to provide more targets for the enemies and get some quick kills, using flash bangs to suppress retaliation.

Then a fucking sectoid resurrects one of these dudes and fucks off out of range the next turn. A drone comes in out of no where, stuns a guy to get bled-out by the zombie in the following turn.

Every flash bang was used, every gadget, ability and grenade just to scrape this team by with a mere single health point each. Half of them panicked but managed to not die. Eventually, agonizingly, the damn evac came and I'd positioned everyone in range enough hop on board, carrying the bodies of the comrades. But god damn. Rookies gonna rook.

Infantry / Assault or whatever's double shots is a lot less OP feeling than it was in the previous game. I probably just need extended magazines to make the most of the effect.

Rangers do take off midgame once you get gear and they start blasting ayy through full cover at will, so take care of them. In the early game shooting is a weak move, period. 9/10 times better to yellow move than to shoot.

No, overwatch gods are still good, skip suppression but take all OW related perks. At high rank the turn should look like

>kill or wound 3-4 more ayys before they even make their move
>repeat
>>
>>169290754

>Go in overwatch

Or does it only apply when i sped both actions on movement?
>>
>>169290958
Both actions have to be movement but it's still a good skill to have. There will be plenty of times your ranger needs to pack up and haul ass, and you still get 3-4 shots with rapid reaction. You can also use it to just flank ayys who only account for your blue move when considering safe positions.

Nope. If I delete XComEngine.ini before launching, all mods appears to be fine, but coincidentally, in this state, no ModClassOverrides are written to the file. I had tested to see what exactly triggered the overrides being written, and changing the graphics to the Medium preset didn't, nor did disabling Vsync, but enabling Framerate Smoothing did.

I know nothing about modding this game, so what is the purpose of ModClassOverrides if they're not immediately written to XComEngine.ini as they seemingly should be, and have to be triggered by altering certain game options that some players won't touch? What is breaking behind the scenes by not having them written, and why are they breaking things when they ARE written in despite no discernable conflict?

>>169306429
The more I look into this, the more I'm sure it's only UI oriented mods that specifically affect the the tactical layer. I think I'm going to give up and just stick to mods that don't fuck with it.
>>
>>169307125

Then what if you make the .ini read only?
>>
>>169307612
You can make it read-only but the game will revert it back. This is not necessary, because if you comment out the ModClassOverrides they actually won't come back without you manually pasting them back in, and the mods in question seem to work again.

Although as I said, I don't know how modding works and doing this is probably breaking something else much more important.

How do I edit pistol using class mods to be LW2 compatible without removing skills?
I'm also using training roulette
>>
Post Coilguns I want to see how they look and sound like and can't be arsed to reinstall this game.
>>
>>169315857
Huh, never seen this.
>>
>>169315910
That I actually don't know.
Personally, I'll replace pistol skills with LW gadget skills (arc thrower, combat knife, and the like) I find suitable.
I know there's a few class mods on the workshop that have posts discussing a pistol workaround - but I don't remember which ones.
Using training roulette most likely gives you a entirely different case.
>>
>>169316686
I'll probably look for those workarounds. Although I'm wondering why they needed to completely change/remove the weapon schematic system

I've only been playing it for a bit, but the sheer volume of missions and how frequently they arrive is definitely something I'm gonna have to pace myself with to avoid burnout.
It'll probably help when I start using stealth cheese and stop thinking of every mission like a full-out combat one like in vanilla.

its all so boring with one way to win and avoid gunfights and then it takes forever and tedious flashbanging and smoke under my ass but not too much because theyll nade my ass then
>ill just take this 44% shot because skill

then the usual compulsory solo shinobi which is not fucking interesting for th 20th time to wait for the pod to move its ass from the objective and everything need to be done manually from buying and equiping grenades to count how many scope you have and if its 'less than 3" and you cant bring other dudes because they are in other squad but he left its redscreen rounds at home because it was on awc training

I think my biggest complaint about lw2 is how long I'm spending getting my troops geared before every mission. Idk if it was like this in vanilla because I never bothered with it, but I'm really appreciating how fast I can throw together a squad in lw1 and get them onto the field. Maybe it's just bad for me because I'm giving my most autistic effort to make sure I have just the right armor on the right guys, keeping guns in case something pops up, etc.

That explains why they have more territory now. Still no faction is match for the now Legendary rates of disconnections and connectivity problems For Honor is now know for.

It use to be slower in LW1 as well till they put in some utility buttons to make things quicker. I kinda expect the same for LW2, especially for the really slow stuff like weapons attachments.

At the very least they need a "strip all weapon upgrades" from any weapon not currently equipped.

Yeah I agree. In the fact the button they added for LW later on was the "remove all equipment" button. So adding a "strip upgrades" would make sense.

Beaglerush is a defensive player which makes him very hard to deal with. However, effective baiting can enrage him, weakening his defenses. When Beagle goes aggro, target his skinny legs; these are this bosses weakpoint. Once Beagle deploys his counter-arguments, skillfully navigate around them instead of directly engaging. His arguments are pretty strong and this will not be an effective strategy. Ignoring them and going straight for the finisher is more effective. Once you've pinned him, shave off his facial hair to finish him off.

I guess I was concerned about being able to complete them. I started my game right before 1.1, and when I read /xcg/ there wasn't a solid block of advice for when/where to do what missions, so I was kind of improvising.

I also had to improvise my soldier's builds since the current advice what still "pick what looks good"

It is, yes. it's part of the "Ag Helmets Rus" mod which imports Rainbow Six Siege helmets. I don't know anything about that game but I always like more customization choices.

The helmet includes the hair, overrides other hair and you can't color it. But it can still work nicely.

>twenty years of them showing up and literally making cancer and most other diseases evaporate, rejuvenating the old and sickly, stopping wars everywhere on the planet both singlehandedly and almost overnight, bringing incredibly advanced tech to improve quality of life overall for the entire planet

while this was all a cover for the evil shit they were doing
(like carting off people by the thousands to turn into goo for the avatar project or genemodding people to turn them into more pliant forms to exploit)
, they were still all objectively (and staggeringly) good things, that they were constantly rolling out.

it'd be easy to forget what led into it when presented with constant proof of their "peaceful motivations", and take a huge reveal of something absolutely horrific to counteract that (which happened and folks were rightly like "yo what the FUCK")
