What's stopping you from conquering Africa completely as a European minor? As long as you keep your infamy stable and avoid African countries that don't have relations with Europeans, which is most of them, couldn't you just do this? Or will the big boys come and swallow up your territory later on?

Haven't played CK2 much for a while. How does the Mongol invasion work nowadays? Do the Ilkhanate and Golden Horde still spawn separately, or is it now just one big Mongol empire? Was HoI4's battle plan system an improvement? Personally I find it preferable to the super micromanage heavy combat of previous games, and you're still pretty able to retain the micromanage aspects if you want to.

The only time I haven't is in setting garrison fronts on coastlines, and even then they're sometimes too useless to actually throw the invaders back into the sea, they just react and sort of get in the enemy's way.

Micromanagement worked on the HoI2 and DH map because the provinces were quite large (like the whole Eastern Front was something like 30 provinces wide). HoI4 has about as many provinces as HoI3 so you need some kind of automation to stop yourself going insane.

Unfortunately the AI is really terrible so you have to look for other stuff to entertain yourself with or the game is just as boring as HoI3.

I think it's a nice idea but if they were going to dramatically simplify combat then they should have made the non-combat stuff more detailed.
Instead they simplified that as well so the game has about as much depth as the average mobile game.

Although Bai Qi remains the official name of the operation, a curious legend soon earns it a common nickname amongst the soldiers. While moving into outer Mongolia and speaking to some of the peoples there, these soldiers heard a legendary tale of a fierce Mongolian princess named Botokhui, who rode to the west to marry a great warrior. They lived happily, for they were both warriors in body and spirit, and in her life she helped him to break a foul kingdom which strangled his lands.

The common soldier takes to this tale with great joy, and calls the operation not Bai Qi, but Botokhui--the riding of China to the west, to break the Japanese nation which strangles it, just as the fierce Botokhui and her husband broke their foes in legends past.

As the first victory is achieved, a Jun under the operational command of Pang Bingxun rushes forward to plug the southern gap. Simultaneously, attacks to the northwest of Beijing attempt to lengthen the Japanese line on that front and force the Kwantung to extend its forces further.

For a brief while, only two infantry divisions will hold the crucial defensive position at Jining, but it is a risk which must be taken; without the 5th Jun, there aren't sufficient forces to fully cover the extended line.

I'm playing as Russia in HPM, and I spent a lot of the early game fucking Austria up. Galicia-Lodomeria is relatively valuable land for eastern Europe, and I managed to get Romania and Yugoslavia as puppets from it as well.

Unfortunately, it's indirectly created a nightmare in Europe. Prussia has formed Super Germany, annexing all Austrian cores. They've also sphered and allied Hungary, whom I was looking to puppet as well. My expansion in Europe has come to a complete halt, and it's only a matter of time until they bring the fight to me.

I've been modernizing and expanding my armies, as well as fishing for powerful European allies. Is there anything else I should be doing?

He Yingqin, however, busies himself with the reorganization of the garrisons in the south in order to give a more proper defense to the coast. On the 10th of October, 1938, Case Bai Qi is labeled a final and total success. There are no precise figures of how many forces surrendered; the communists refuse to communicate clearly with Jiang, and they took far fewer prisoners than the Republican forces. Yet at least 20 full divisions were captured, isolated, and destroyed in the pocket, and the Republic alone boasts 150,000 prisoners of war.

Although the overwhelming number of divisions captured were simple infantry, with the three tank divisions destroyed earlier by the more moderate variant of Bai Qi, the Kwantung is reeling. Relying on capturing resources, manpower, and industry in China as they undoubtedly were, the Kwantung cannot replace the losses they are sustaining with the pitiful access to resources they currently boast, and His Majesty's government in Tokyo is becoming more and more recalcitrant to support a Kwantung force which is being decisively defeated by the Chinese.

Although far from defeated--indeed, if anything the Kwantung dig their heels in and prepare to fight for every inch--it is well-known among them that they cannot replace the forces they have lost. Those who have hope look to Tokyo and their Emperor for further support, despite the losses he has suffered twice-over from the defeated landings at Qingdao and Shanghai; those who lack hope wish only to hold the Chinese mongrels out of Korea for as long as they might.

The corrupt Kwantung cannot compete with the Republic of China's national army.

The final necessary troop movement for the opening of the Manchurian offensive finishes on November the 21st, pushing back one of the few operational tank groups still utilized by the Kwantung--albeit with heavy losses taken--and bringing the line to an operational position for an offensive. The fight for Manchura--and from there, Korea, is on the horizon.
