I can't really speak for a statistically signifcant portion of the populace, but elezen and hyur are nice, with au ra a semidistant third. Roes are a big maybe, as are the aforementioned cats, both very dependent on personality. Lalas are a hard no.

Let's just have a little fun and make a skillset / playstyle / whatever for the job based on the role you want it to take.

If SAM was a DPS, I'd really like to see a sort of extension on the idea of NIN's mudras. Like, not necessarily the same system but say, do a combo like 3-1-2 and then activate it with 4 to do a damaging strike with your standard bleed, etc. So you don't do damage with your 3-1-2 buttons, but the 4 does semi-high potency damage. It also escapes the caster feel in a way since you can move while doing this. They'll have shorter cooldowns, higher auto attack damage and a chance for auto attacks to proc a reset on an oGCD or something. That way if you fumble a combo move you're not super missing out on like 700 potency since you're still doing AAs, but the spread between AA and combo slices will be split. I dunno.

SAM, Samurai Tank. Focuses on Parry and Dodge (but Dodge less so because ayylmao). Whenever they parry or dodge an ability, they gain access to a set of tanking skills they can pop (that all share cooldowns) that will increase team damage, or enemy vulnerability or team defense or whatever. Alternatively, they have access to a set of non-tanking skills when a teammate or themselves parry/dodge/blocks, they can bring out the dees and do hard-hitting moves.

Their BIG THING is they can activate a skill that covers the team, and the next heavy nuke that hits the team is converted into some sort of scaling buff for the SAM as they jump into the next phase for a boss.

Yes, amazingly. Lord of Verminion is kind of a shitty RTS but it has a small following. But more importantly there's a SHIT LOAD of stuff to collect. I'm at 169 minions and I'm nowhere close to all of the ones you can currently get. Most people are still hovering around 50-60 minions.

Also over 50 mounts to collect, several hundred fish to find, tons of achievements and mounts/glamour gear/titles from said achievements, chocobo racing, house decorating, crafting...i mean if you genuinely have nothing to do in game, you either have NO life whatsoever or you're missing something.

limit breaks being about "teamwork" is bullshit made up for this game. in mainline final fantasy games everybody just had their own meters. all the "teamwork" element does is make sure that there is always a right person to use a limit break at any given time, and anyone else using it is wrong not just because their damaging LB is unideal, but because they've now taken that meter away from the "right" DPS, tank, or healer who was meant to use it.

In a world with samurai as a tank, one of two things will happen: Either they have a slashing debuff and warrior ceases to exist, or they don't, and nobody ever plays them.

Samurai will be a str based dps, because that leaves us with 3 str classes, 3 int classes, 3 mind classes, 3 dex classes, and 3 vit classes.
