If that stopgap player will help you get a higher ranking (and thus more dimension stones) then it is definately worth it.

It really depends on how close you are and how effiecnetly you gather DS. If you are more than 1-2 seasons away from the legend you need, you could probably fill that gap with someone else. Just don't waste + on them, and only superb them enough for their good skills.

I have no idea how easy they are for new players as I started playing a long time before they were added, but there are daily matches that reward rivals that are exclusive to new players. Keep a look out for Fuse Ro, Reto and Leonard from them as they're decent 4* keepers that will tide you over for a while. Look for something like Isilla GK, Duke if you're lucky, Milkyway, backline characters with skills that will buff your GK's tankyness (dmg reduc, crit resis, hp or specific reductions vs other elements like Magnus's Blue flames) if you're going towards a mono light, but with sammy ace Choi, Elaine, and other reds are welcome, but you generally should get characters that are strong and bring good effects by themselves even if they arent the color you you want. Like Magnus (just as a example since he runs in a lot of diffrent teams that arent WW(green))

Jin is and always has been a good GK aside from those first few months where he didn't have an active block.

Been using him for three years and have no issues tanking hits and winning battles. He can have 4k+ HP, fairly high DR, High critical resist and has a 10 minute active.

It's not plain DR. it's applied after all normal damage calculations are done, then acts to directly reduce that value. If a Leventor with 90% pen shoots on a 30% DR gk that active blocks, the block isn't negated. The block is a direst 60% reduction in the end damage number.

DI directly takes away from their DR on a 1:1 ratio.

Pen is half as effective (1:2 ratio) and triggers after DI already reduces the DR.
