I'm playing SMT IV and this is my first SMT game, just consulted the FAQ thing trying to avoid spoilers. Right now I'm doing my stat build with Luck as main stat followed by Agi/Str being split and totaling up to half my Luck value. Looking at the guide though, it looks like dex boosts physical damage more than str for physical attacks except for the standard attack.

But I'm curious, if I use a weapon like the bone sword that I just unlocked in the shop will my luck stat make my basic attacks more likely to inflict sleep from the weapon effect or does luck only apply to skills?

So I downloaded the hard mod for Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne from

http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3299/

and I keep getting these graphical glitches after patching the game with the mod. Some objects seem to be see-through (2 pics on the top). For comparisons sake, I've included 2 pictures from the same place only this time the game was left unpatched. I also get random frame drops in the patched version which never happened in the orig. version

Has anyone come across this on their PCSX2? I've tried older builds, different plugins and the trick from the SMT Nocturne Wiki but it's not working. The only solution seems to be playing in software mode.

My guess is that PCSX2 has some sort of game-specific fix (it uses many of these to avoid graphical glitches in popular games) built into it that will be applied when and only when it detects nocturne is running. For whatever reason it's not detecting the modded version as nocturne, thus is not applying the fix. That's just my guess, I would go ask the emulation general about it, since I doubt anyone here is really an expert on the internal workings of PCSX2.

Alright, I got it to work.

If you wanna check the mod out, here's what you do.
>start the game via with the original unpatched .iso
>when the PS2 logo pops up, go to "iso selector" and swap the disc to the patched .iso of Nocturne
>it will go into boot mode where the memory cards etc. are. just click on "PS2 disc" and it will properly boot into the modded version of Nocturne without the graphical glitches.

Anyone know a fusion method to get Mediarama for Maki in Persona 1? Saurva is not being very hospitable.

There really a reason to run a dedicated healer in SMT IV? I'm on Medusa and seems like every fight is more or less "kill them before they kill you", some enemies use moves that hit 3+ party members for 3/4 hp and move twice a turn..

Any demons that can reflect spells is a blessing in that boss battle, as it allows you to deal damage without depending much on attacking too often. She doesn't have any weaknesses, so it's not going to be like you can take advantage of the party attack system.

Off the top of my head, Hresvelgr with something to take care of his fire weakness is a blessing. She does a 6-8 hit (yes, that fucking many, why, because fuck you) physical attack, and he's a godsend to have as he can reflect both ice and fire. He has a weakness to Gun, but I'm pretty damn sure she doesn't have anything relating to gun. I can't remember any more, as it's been a while since I've played Strange Journey, but basically:

Get demons with Reflect. Get a demon with Salvation or someone who can play up-keep on your party; don't just also leave that on one demon only, give it to at least one other guy. Debuff her and buff yourself.

And then fucking pray. God help you come MA.

So if scout won't work on demons in YHVH's universe what's a good place to get new high level demons?

I'd recommend going with the Dragon Vest as well as the ring that acts as an Endure. Usually whenever you're in the middle of a dungeon sprawl or trying to conserve mana in a battle, it's way more profitable to think about single-heals rather than going broad and possibly losing out on an action later on or putting you in a situation where you're pressed for either getting that MP back, or trying to hope that luck'll make up for the lack of it. The cost is a bitch: two to three times more than a single heal, which is definitely a problem if you're caught up in something that you can't just easily teleport out of.

Of course, this is just in the case of it being level-by-level. If we're talking about later on, then it's way better to just have a group heal that a demon can spend willy-nilly for shit that doesn't necessarily require a full-brunt Prayer or what heal'll match up with what state of magic you're on.

This is a blessing for physical guys, especially if the game doesn't have Arts Mastery or whatever: it takes the brunt of what's wrong out of your party as well as healing up any scratches so that you can still dish out HP-tied damage dealing physical attacks, or just physical attacks in general.

Basically: single heals are good for conserving MP early-game/hobo stage, but when you're in later on, it's better to let the MP conserving heals just be group heals a stage or two below your current magic shit so that you can cover up any small mistakes here and there and not leave any room for error.

Also, they let you skill-change into the group heals if you actually get them to fucking change the skill and not change another skill into something retarded like fucking Shibaboo, fuck you Kodama, just get fucking Media already you piece of childish shit

Dekaja is a great start. You better have at least Sukunda/Tarunda ready too, not necessarily Debilitate. If you don't have Luster Candy just get Sukukaja and/or Rakukaja to survive some more turns or Tarukaja if you already have some high HP but can't deal enough damage.

Don't throw in the towel just yet, Anon. There's a lot of demons ready to be fused as well as leveled up for their D-Source. Remember that you always get the D-Source on your first max analyze level up for most demons, which is easy as hell (stand still and defend with them in your party for like a few dozen turns on Sector A). Look and see if you can get a D-source from any demons that have Debilitate/Luster Candy, they're easy to look up and I think Thoth might have one of those (maybe, but don't take my word on it)

Also, a few points that might help you:

Don't debuff her to -4 on anything. The second you do, she'll use it without pause. I stuck to just getting her to minus two or so and then focusing on myself. Try to go for Agility first-hand as the party-wide bufu shit is fucking atrocious.

Kill the Black Rider. I'm pretty sure he had a gun that has you shoot out Electric shots. It's practically mandatory on solo runs, and even outside of that, it's a blessing for her electrical weakness. If you can't get them, just get Mazio stones.

And lastly, there's always ways to get yourself back in the game no matter how fucked you are in the games. It's a matter of just getting gud
