Leo is kinda shit as a unit though since he's slow and held back by his poor accuracy. And he's one of the best mages. His reclass options are shit though.

Hayato suffers from his poor starting level in the Birthright campaign. Revelations he has a much better start.

Orochi suffers from the fact that she's both fragile and slow. Without marrying her as a knight, she lacks Wary Fighter which is the skill she wants most and has to rely on a friendship seal with Rinkah to get a more defensive class that can still use tomes and even then it's a gamble on whether or not she can reliably get that 45% DEF growth to proc every level up.

Odin has stat growths that are more ideal for Merc/Hero than a mage. As a memedon he still sucks balls due to less than 50% str growth.

Nyx is just blind and frail and relies on getting that Archer from Mozu for Certain Blow to fix most of her issues.

The sad thing about Fates is that the second gen has much better mage options. Ophelia and Rhajat are absolute monsters who easily outclass their parents. Asugi has magic growths which make absolutely no sense. Nina can be a surprisingly decent mage too.

then there's shit like Elise who isn't a mage in her initial class, but becomes one on promotion and even with E rank tomes probably outclasses any other gen 1 mages you get in Conquest.

I get what you're saying, but I somewhat disagree. Ophelia can be worth the effort of using Odin, even though he sucks. Hell, if you're using the DLC you can make Odin a dread knight and he does pretty well in that role. Then you get the Hoshido tomes mentioned above (Calamity Gate/Horse Spirit) and it becomes possibly worth the investment. Ophelia herself is a good character locked behind having to use a bad one, I guess. She's pretty strong and her unique ability is great since it's free crit and works well with her special tome.

She is.

You can make her a Basara and she becomes pretty well balanced, though can't use advanced tomes.

If you're using DLC you can make her a witch and she becomes a monster, though her accuracy rates are FE6 axe tier at times.

Overall she actually is quite good. IMO much better than Orochi or Hayato. Really the worst part of her is that like with Ophelia, you have to use a mediocre character in order to get her.

The problem is that Conquest does have a lot of ninjas as enemies. And the Spear Fighters are no slouches either. And both are decently fast classes that would cripple him. So there might be times where he has to occasionally tank one.

Though obviously if you are going to use him, you would think about addressing his weak points before going into his strengths for your team.

And Certain Blow is nice to get for both Nyx and her kid so that you don't have to gamble on whether or not that crucial attack would miss.

You have Tonics, Selena, and pairup at your disposal to help him double. Him not doing so is solely on you.

22 Blacksmiths have 24 AS on Lunatic. Level 10 Leo with Nyx (Adventurer) B or Niles C and Tonic is 30 AS when Rallied. Shuras have 18 AS, he doesn't even need a Tonic or Rally to double them. Puppets have 22 AS, meaning he's doubling them as well. Unpaired Onmyoji have 22 AS. Subaki has 23 AS.

See where I'm going with this? He doubles the things he needs to, ergo his Speed is fine. The only thing that kind of sucks is missing out on the Falcos without a Special Dance, but he can double them too potentially if you either buy a Speedwing for him or give him one of the two we already have (Falcos have 27 AS).

How fast does he need to be to be "fine" for you? Not every unit is Kaze. Should I start saying he's a shit unit because he doesn't double Hana or something? Speaking of that I got Xander to double Hana in a playthrough once

The only maps from chapters 14-26 that contain Ninjas are 17 and 25 (well 15 too but Leo isn't deployable there). Ironically Leo isn't deadweight on either map there since he still does well against Puppets, Puppet Masters, and MoAs.

And obviously he's not taking on waves of Spear Masters at a time like the top tiers can, but that's why he's not a top tier. Heck even the unrallied ones in 23 he does fine against from a range (they're at 25 AS).

I've done almost 300 rerolls today with no two 5* in any of them, but just about every focus character that isn't Tiki.

So -Attack Hector is roughly 3 less damage than normal. With his tanking ability in mind, does he really mind it so much?

The hate it gets is because most played the GBA games first and anything that isn't the GBA sprite animations feels weird to them. There is also the turnoff of sacrificing a unit on the fucking prologue, leading people to believe it is a necessity even on non-bullshit normal difficulty. It's an ok game and sets up New Mystery HoLaS, one of my personal favorites.

Does Heroes have a worse plot and cast than Fates?

Example: A lot of people say the mysterious dancer stuff is offensively bad, but at least that's only one chapter, and Corrin is redpilled about it in the following one.

In Heroes, a similar plot thread exists except, it's actually very important to the plot rather than just a single chapter, and it lasts the entire final leg of the current story.

He should still be able to 2 shot most of his biggest targets on the counter, most of the reds would have still survived and Tiki especially gives no fucks either way. Maybe Takumi has a better chance of living in certain setups, but hopefully you have something else to rush him down with before he can Vengeance. Same goes for Robin possibly surviving and getting fed turns towards Ignis, have something to finish the job if they're in a place he can't quite reach. It's not an ideal situation, but it's manageable.

A lot of people will tell you that lancebreaker is useless because the only meta units with lances are like Abel and Effie. Maybe Peri and some other situational ones too I guess.

Thing is, that's ignoring the emerald axe+ he gets which just makes him a pretty decent blue killer in general. So he should do fine disposing of blues, and savage blow 3 is nothing to scoff at either really.

Overall he's probably average right now. Not really a high tier character but not shit either. I'd say he's usable. He might become stronger if somebody like, say, Ephraim becomes dominant.
