I really want to get good at this game, but no matter what, I can't seem to counter guard breaks. I feel like I always end up a bit too defensive, get guardbroken, and fucked as a result.

I know you counter it by pressing the button, but it never seems to work for me. Is my timing just really off, or is it a lot harder than I realize?

There's no way anybody finds 4v4 or 2v2 fun. The entire mode is gank-central and Elimination has retarded as fuck power-ups scattered everywhere. A defense power up that gives you a second health bar? Super speed that makes you literally impossible to catch? Attack power up that makes you lights hit like heavies? Whose fucking idea was this shit? Did anyone at the developers even playtest this crap?

I want to buy this but I wouldn't be playing anything other than 1v1, and lmao, fuck that for $60.

Remove power-ups or make it so they only become active to the team at the disadvantage, 1v>1 needs a major rebalancing because revenge mode doesn't do shit when you're being gangbanged by three people at once. Even two people is pushing it. I've never seen anyone win a 1v2 where everyone was at full health.

tldr want to buy but can't justify the price for only ever playing a single game mode because the other game modes are imbalanced messes

also how the fuck do you beat a competent orochi as a warden? I'm pretty good as warden but I've never been able to beat a good orochi.

I enjoyed this game for the first little bit, but as I started to understand it more and be able to do what I actually wanted to do, I started to notice something.

There's easily a half second of delay in the best connection quality matches. For awhile I figured I wasn't fast enough because I didn't know what I was looking for yet, somehow, but after really trying to notice if I did indeed press guard block to counter their guard block the answer was yes.

I am parrying that overhead, and I am teching that guard block. There's input delay. That's why people think fast characters and guard breaks are hot shit.

Refunded until dedicated servers, no thank you.

Play patiently, literally look for their attack angle, or even throw a round learning their attack patterns and favored strategy.
I've managed to figure one out, and kept pushing them until they were against the wall, following by chains of guard breaks, unbreakable blows, small stamina breaks, parries, etc. until they were down.

Also, anyone else notice how few players ever take advantage of a full stamina drain? Like I've been exhausted multiple times in a fight and not once did the other player press the advantage.

That is just Kensei. Warden only needs fundies until he gets into shoulder bash range, or lands a double light, from there he's at a huge advantage and unless you have a side dash counter ALL you can do is backstep, and if you backstep he can charge shoulder (but if you read this you can do other stuff) but its very oppressive. Side dodge attacks allow you to fuck with the shoulder feint guard break since your attack will go thru the guard break and this means you can side step punish shoulder if you read it, but he can still deal with the follow up and not GB. Kensei on the other hand has to earn all of his damage unless he's playing against retards. Mind you, Kensei is probably top 3.

forward dash light or side dash light are good ways to 'harass' people and check their reactions, you can backstep after a forward dash light and they can't retaliate, sometimes you can catch them sleeping with a stab follow up. Fwd dash guard break covers a surprising amount of space and gets a lot of people. Tbh, every option kensei can do is really based on a read, there's nothing you can really do and have it work if the opponent is looking for it, even if he gets the 'stun' flash it's still pretty easy to know what he's going to do

So I'm fishing for overhead auto-counters and double light hits, but what do I do then? If I shoulder charge they either dodge(I get hit) or it hits them and.... they recoil out of range of more lights and heavies are slow bullshit when they're done raw by themselves.

What are some kind of basic flowchart strings that'll help me learn to git gud? You obviously get to the point where you switch it up and cancel a heavy overhead to bait their parry so you can counter it etc. etc., but I need to know how to keep the pressure going in the first place

if you hit a light, you can cancel into shoulder charge by pressing the GB button, don't hold it. from there they will either get hit, side step, or backstep. If they get hit, you go into side light light -> shoulder again, or delay gb, you can do stuff. if they side step and try to punish, you can feint the startup of shoulder the same way you feint heavies, and you can do a GB which is untechable because theyre in a side dash
if they backstep, you can charge shoulder for more distance + armor and stagger them again. I've also just left guard stance, running sprinting heavy but that probably only works against retards. Basically you're looking to confirm off a light light and you check them with shoulder, based on how they handle shoulder, you change your mixup.

Like Titanfall 2, all gameplay DLC (maps, modes, etc) will be completely free for everyone. Characters will also be freely accessible to everyone, though you will have to unlock them with Steel if you want to customize and level them. If an enemy gets on ur point, a conquerer cant really do anything. Theyre too defensive. They cant engage the attacker well, if they just keep dodging away.

Whereas a peace keeper can just charge anyone on the point to take them out quick.

So you lose more points with the defensive characters, taking longer to kill attackers shutting down the score ur getting from ur point.

It becomes this weird flip, where defensive characters are better taking offensive points, because they live longer and deny more score while on an enemy point.
