Are fighter pawns the best kind of pawns?

It was around the 3-4 HP mark that the only way I could hit him was to bait him into trying to crush me and quickly get in two high-arcing sword shots.

I think I fucked up when I didn't use the great cannon ball he was summoning (after wiping out the 4 using it) but instead just wailed on him when he was stunned on the ground.

Also looking up the wiki failing to bait the tentacles to hit him

I wish you could deflect his gaze back if you do a perfect shield block. I am pretty sure I did deflect the gaze with the shield but it wasn't reflected back to him.

I also didn't try crawling into his eye. I just crawled above the eyelid and tried to jump down and attack.


I gotta admit it's a little annoying though when I check the wiki (after I finish a boss, so as not to spoil the experience) and it's like "GUIDE FOR STRIDERS GUIDE FOR ARCHERS GUIDE FOR SORCERORS AND MAGES"

I dunno dude I really like Gazer as an MK. It's a support and hybrid class and fights like that show its prowess, especially solo or with a fighter pawn, at its versatility. You've got great cannon and ruinous sigil to clean up the tentacles on the ground extremely quickly, with abyssal anguish up you can full moon slash them all to death and with a riposite you can perfect block all of their spells and immediately strike them back. When the 4 tentacle monsters come out you can drop another great cannon next to it and wack it, and you've got plenty of mobility. You can also sit behind a pillar during his gaze and wack a well placed cannon at his eye, interrupting the gaze and doing some strong damage to him.

Yeah I haven't gotten to abyssal anguish yet, but I didn't know perfect block will work vs spells too. The regular tentacles were easy peasy, it was at that 3-4 HP mark when literally all his tentacles were ripped off so all he did was:

-Poison breath
-COME ON AND SLAM AND WELCOME TO THE EYE-JAM
-Laser-beam.

My great cannon was doing almost zero damage to him, but that's perhaps to blame for me leveling up as fighter/warrior then going mystic knight. I know if I go sorceror it'll boost my magick level but sorceror is such a snooze for me. I'd see if there was a way to cheat up my magick level but I feel like that'd be unfair.

And I don't think it was a lack of enchantment because my pawns would give me holy charge and even then the cannon wasn't doing any damage to him even when it hit his eye.

Yeah but you can deal with those mechanics while also putting out damage and conserving stamina at a fair pace very well as an MK. You've got all that time to save your stamina for running from the gas, rebuffing yourself and readying for damage windows. Over as a fighter or a warrior, you've got absolutely nothing to do, you can't really hit the tentacles on him and often have to wait for them to come off, and if you do climb him, you'll be wasting stamina for when he inevitably fucks you with a poison cloud and you'll have to either chug curatives or take a lot of damage and suffer. Then you'll have to move yourself all the way back to the other side for the 4 tentacles. None of which MK has to deal with. I agree the fight isn't hard nor very mechanically interesting at all, but I think MK probably has it best for fights like that, along with MA/ranger/sorc (like all fights in their case).

Your great cannon will likely get better as you get more gear, mine does a whole ton of damage but I did go sorc 100-200, pure str builds will have a lot worse damage until they're geared well in strong magick gear. And you don't want to climb as an MK usually.

Good point, I was forgetting to use my dragonforged sword with higher magick bonus than my dragon's dogma sword with super high physical but abysmal magick bonus. Doing better now.

Yes, sort of. I don't know about quivers (I assume they're tied to whichever bow you're using), but you can set another piece of equipment to display instead of what you're actually wearing. Say you want the protection of a piece of plate armour but would rather wear some airy clothes: you can equip the plate armour and this will determine your stats, but you can choose for your character model to be wearing those clothes instead. So in this case, if you don't like the quiver, just make it display a different bow with a different quiver.
You're still restricted to what your vocation can wear, though.

I swear I'll never understand how the affinity system works. Even made sure to do Madeleine's sidequest before giving Selene the Arisen's Bound which is supposed to max out her affinity and then starting Deny Salvation.
Wonder if the Gold Idol I decided to give her this playtrough has anything to do with it.

I got the two best girls living in my shitty two-room fisher home now so I guess I can't complain, but still. Its really strange how the Bond doesn't lock your Beloved choice even though that's supposed to be its sole story purpose.

And here we are...the final stage in my long journey. One final task remains, to finish the cycle a second time, and then my journey in this world comes to a close. I'll miss this game, but the forge of my aughtism is spent and guttering, and my fun shivers for it. All good things must come to an end.

I don't think there will be a next time, sadly. I feel I've done all there is to do in the game. I've played all the vocations extensively, geared them all out fully in level 3 gear, gotten my pawn maxed out in knowledge and skill (not on this save file though, I fucked up the knowledge transfer trick). Made everyone like me, done every quest, even the badge of vows and escort ones.

Though my time in Gransys was fun, this world has nothing left to offer me. Other worlds call for my attention (there are way too many games coming out in March, what the fuck.)

Parting is sad, and painful, but leaving it behind is something I must do. Every end is a beginning.

Dunno what the exact problem may be, I'm finding Sorc much more versatile than expected, very fun.
If you are trying to play with a 2 sorcs party, before hiring the madeleine clone I played only with my sorc pawn when we had only low level skills. Basically, if you fight with no meat shield in the party, choosing which spell to use basing on the casting time and enemies' positions become essential, fucking the timing becomes really bad. The terrain becomes much more important, even a simple big tree can become a life saver. In general, Lassitude and Necromancy were great to recover your breath and to move in a better position, High Ingle is great for near enemies since it's fast as fuck same goes for Comestion for crowd control, but, again, I'm not sure what the problem can be, when you get the high level skills you should be fucking OP, if you have Focused Bolts you should already have some of them.

You should try the holy version. It's homing and goes through walls and can pierce through multiple enemies. Large numbers of enemies are weak to holy, with sirens being the only thing with real resistance to it, though there are a few others with some minor resistance you can still kill them with it. Focused bolts also allow you to move around while charging unlike spells which leave you vulnerable.

If you restore backup saves you will get a 1-2day trade ban where all of your gifts show up as rocks to try and prevent you from sending out duplicates of rare stuff. If your pawn has impossible stats it won't be rentable. If you do too much damage to the online ur dragon then that ur session won't count. You don't need to worry about any real bans.

dark is underrated not because of the enemies it's useful against, but because of the crit chance
it's not a percentage either, you just have to do enough damage to fill the threshold and you'll crit
so really, any multi hitting class/ vocation will be super charged with a dark enchantment

I dunno exactly, but it's a theory that bestiary knowledge is in fact more important than inclination, and by extension maybe pawns will often go after the things they know how to kill over the things they don't, hence why scather seems to often just not work at all. That's only really my own theory and I've heard someone else on leddit say something similar, so take it with a grain of salt.

Please tell me there's a way to advance the purification list for Cursed Weapon Lv3 without actually spending RC...

As much as I have complained in here before about DDO's uninspired lowest-common-denominator high fantasy æsthetics and how they are such a step down from DDDA, one thing that they did magnificently is the interior of the Arks.
They incorporate some minimalistic Egyptian elements, but most of all they remind me of the grand, marbled halls and corridors of the National Socialists. Somehow the game blends these in such a way that it looks both as advanced and alien as it ought to, but still not out of place in this mediæval fucking Jugendstil ruins in the Deenan Woods though fantasy world. The textures here look beautiful too.

I really wish I could have gotten closer.

It's really a shame: everything in DDDA is in uncanny valley territory. Using the waist section of the surcoat sets leaves you about a good foot too short for it to look good. My solution to that became using the waist from the [Missionary Robe], with an added split in the middle, although since it wasn't modelled it just looked stupid once the legs spread too far apart.

Speaking of Frigor, it still dies to one attack from respectable BBi monsters like Eliminator or Living Armor.Even cyclops.

And if you hire a pawn that has it, he can end up casting it in a narrow path thus blocking pawns cause they can't climb on the ice.

It's cool to stack them on top of each other and cast Bolide tho.

On the other hand I can't deal with living armours. I've got no magic damage at all and even with the holy weapons I do basically nothing
