Besides just saving up. Be smart. You should do all your pack buying in the first quarter to first half of a new expansion. The meta wont shift after that time anyway so safe decisions can be made. After the first quarter to 40% (whenever you hit your final pity timer) you STOP buying any packs and craft what you want.

Then you just save up for the next expansion. I'll have about 70 packs just from gold when un'goro hits.

If the next set is an adventure you can spend some more time buying packs if it's actually useful for you. You should make a wishlist and once you've bought a decent number of packs and gotten a decent portion of them you just craft the rest you really want and quit buying more. No duplicates, no mess and you can instantly use new cards/decks instead of waiting till the last 2 weeks before a new meta hits and your crafts might be wasted anyway.

Minibot is at least a 2/3 and doesn't have Taunt. It's also not in Standard anymore. This is a 2/1 with Divine Shield in most situations.

That takes 6 cards in your hand and can still be traded off the board in an emergency, your card would have to be silenced or directly destroyed. Even burn cards like Fireball would be completely useless so your opponent would have to commit their hard removal to a 2-drop if you buff it even once, which leaves them extremely vulnerable to anything you may drop later.

You're comparing 2 extremely random triggers into extremely good outcomes that can *still* be removed from the board by any minion that survives. Your card literally takes *two* non-legendary cards in the player's hand and it goes out of control. This card could be a 6-drop and it would still see play because you could still reliably play it on the same turn as Blessing of Kings or Silvermoon Portal and your opponent is suddenly fucked.

Owl never sees play anymore and Spellbreaker is hot garbage. The only class with Silence available aside from those minions is Proest, who rarely uses them because he could just put in another removal card. The only exception is some decks that tech in ONE Mass Dispel.

You are really underestimating how powerful a card that forces reactions can be. There are two layers of problems that they cause:
>If your opponent does not have an answer, they gain a massive disadvantage if they don't outright lose
>If your opponent does have an answer, they can't use it again in the future

A *2-drop* that forces answers is exactly why our current Pirate meta is so problematic. The damage they exert from very early overwhelms most decks because answers are costly and are unlikely to have been drawn at that point.

Paladin's problem is early game, so increasing the cost so the opponent can justifiably use removal on it is right out.

Alternative is that only attacking is reduced to 1, which means that any burn deals with it very easily.

You're right that early drops forcing answers is bad, though a 2 drop needing an answer is far better than a 1 drop needing one.

However, that point is kind of moot because at the point where the card is a 2 drop, it is easier to remove than Minibot, and Minibot was an strong card, but not a broken one. It's when the card becomes a 6 drop that it's actually very powerful, and at that point your opponent can use removal on it.

That's nonsense. If you don't cater to serious players, the balance is shit, and when balance is shit nobody gets to have fun because there's one or two OP decks that just crush everything else and anyone who tries to run meme decks gets shat on at every rank.

There's so many problems with this game that it's hard to even list them all, but the designers trying too hard is definitely not one of them.

HS is inherently a problematic game because the fact that every single creature doubles as removal forces the game to be all about tempo. They need to come up with some kind of an ability that says "this minion can't be attacked by minions", then slap that on like fifty dorks.

Exacerbating the problem is the fact that the card pool is so fucking limited. They introduced rotations WAY too early. Every new format gets solved in a couple days because there's just so few cards and so few things to do. This amplifies every balance problem tenfold.

Open up whatever packs you're going to start yourself out with, then see if any of the cards you got seem to synergize. You can try to build a deck around that or just go for some budget deck like Heal Priest or Kripp's Tempo Warrior. If you want to try out an Adventure, One Night in Karazhan is super easy to beat and you get a bunch of legendaries and other useful cards, plus one Legendary that stuffs your deck with 5 more legendaries. If you want to constantly try out new cards without spending a ton of dust/money that's the one I'd recommend.

this is one of the problems with the game desu, its very steep for new players to get into and so they reach what feels like this wall of pay or fuck off. obviously we would like to see that be different but what can we do.

a friend started a few weeks ago, i told him to not open any packs and just play the trump basic decks for a while and use the trump videos to learn concepts. for quite some time he got pretty balanced matches against people with only the basic cards. its because at some point either from playing or opening packs you will get thrown against people like that because theres basically no system to it

not sure if you have a hero at level 20 yet, that unlocks the brawl. some brawls dont require you to bring your own cards so you can get balanced games during that brawl

queue at a time when normies are playing, do trump basic decks, ranked can be a bit more balanced especially near the end of the season, first wing karazhan, maybe a class like mage is strong with its basic cards

You don't see that level of aggression and tempo in other TCGs though, Magic, Yugioh, Pokemon etc. You say design should make you play a game of cards, well in those you can whilst actually using interesting combos or interactions.
