Days without rigging: do you even need to ask?

I know to many people this wasn't a question but to some it was so I'll say the /jp/ /mlp/ match will not be replayed. Sometimes things get rigged, I've been there as both a manager and a spectator but when rigging happens we just gotta shrug it off and keep on going.

Your shitty streamer who is openly biased against /mlp/ rigs a match and there is no recourse, no comeuppance? It's not fair to our management team who put THOUSANDS of hours into preparation to get beaten by a bunch of lucky shitters. There is no doubt that playing on a lower difficulty setting disproportionately affected our team. In order to maintain the integrity of the competition, the match should be replayed with the correct settings and Boris should be suspended. How they hell did you even get to be commissioner anyway? If there was any effect to the AI due to playing in a lower difficulty (which I doubt), then that effect applied to both teams, which makes it so that no one got an unfair advantage. Other than being a somewhat boring match, there's nothing wrong about it.

HELP
>>
>>167978603

As long as /int/ gets out with them I'm good.
>>
>>167978303
It all depends whether or not the AI difficulty matters.
If the game was set to 5 minutes instead of 10, the effect would apply to both teams, but /mlp/ would've won. If the game would've been played on rain with long grass, the effect would apply to both teams but the outcome could've been different. If the AI plays better on superstar, maybe more /jp/'s shots would've gone in.
>>
>>167978786

>5 saves
>exact same number of shots and shots on target

Bad luck desu.
>>
>>167978303
>they both had the same crutch, so it's still fair
I see what you're saying but just bare with me for this analogy. I'll put the direct reference I'm trying to make in parentheses.

Say two people were being tested for their ability to drive (today's game), a person with 20-20 vision (let's say Team A) and a person who's blind (let's say Team B). The 20-20 vision will pass the test (win), while the blindfolded person would crash the car (lose). Now let's say you put the same blindfold on both of them (the same effect applied with the difficulty). Both drivers crash the car (they both don't win).

Just because the same bad effect was applied, doesn't mean that the result was unaffected. In the analogy, the 20-20 driver should've won in the correct situation, however he didn't in the wrong situation. I believe this is the same as the game. No disrespect to /jp/, they're a great team, but we /mlp/ ran 350 test games on the difficulty that was supposed to be applied. Playing a strategy that might not necessarily work on a lower difficulty could have acted as a crutch more to us than to them. I made /mlp/ the 20-20 guy because of the testing numbers compared to /jp/.

Not sure if that analogy is perfect, but hopefully it gets what I'm trying to say across. It took us from hundreds of tests advantage... to less advantage or potentially miniscule advantage. What do you think anon?

>>
>>167979163
/jp/ tested their tactics on Superstar too, and running 300 tests doesn't matter if the other teams manages to find a set of tactics that work well against yours.

Honestly it just sounds to me that you're just looking for excuses because your team got outplayed by /jp/.

This is true, but I would say that marginally losing 300+ tests of strategy is a little more significant than that of /jp/. But like I said, it's not practical to redo the match because it's not enough a proven advantage (to either team), change, etc...
>find a set of tactics that work well against yours.
This is true, but in terms of the initial testing, nobody was testing for matchups, just general schemes and settings that generally work.

But I hear what you're saying anon. At the end of the day, even if the outcome of the game was affected, it's almost definitely not to the amount that requires a rematch.

>>167979856
Good work. No that's not stupid at all. Sorry, that was just a poor analogy on my part. You guys are a good team like I said. That's part of the reason why I think it's slightly unfair to both of our teams, but not enough to warrant a rematch.

And yeah, just ignore the autistic false-flaggers and baiters.
>>
>>167979856
Obviously both teams got screwed IF the AI difficulty actually does something (which I assume yes, because it's an AI vs AI match).
But you can't say both teams got screwed equally, so it's fair. Maybe /jp/ would have more accurate shots. Maybe /mlp/ would play better longball. Just because both teams got fucked over doesn't make it any more fair.

No, but if we assume you're right then it literally does not matter and it's not rigged. I wish I would have the time and the autism to run like 50 games on regular and 50 on superstar to compare them, so we could have some cold hard data to settle it.

A better analogy: Two race car drivers are blindfolded and they both crash. It's not fair to either driver when both would normally have the opportunity to win. This makes it unfair in reference to the rest of the tournament, which actually got to drive against each other and compete.

>>167981142
I guess that's a better analogy than mine because ultimately, ties are actually detrimental. A win and a loss is worth more than a tie and a tie.
>>
>>167981142
No, a better analogy is two F1 drivers competing against each other, but they have to drive F3 instead.
>>
>>167981480
The sticking point of the fix is that it doesn't matter if one team/driver got more screwed over than the other, they both got screwed over.
>>
>>167979163
This only applies if /mlp/ actually would have won otherwise, but you don't know that. Even if you tested a million times and got the perfect set up to beat /jp/ in 99% of those, the actual game would still not be determined beforehand. All of what you're saying doesn't matter at all, since you can't predict what happens in an actual official match.

>>167981142
This analogy works better, but doesn't really matter since everyone got 1 point in group A. Nothing changed in the group, you still have to win matches to get trough.
>>
>>167981243
I need both save files, right?

it actually refutes your point entirely. The change of car does not have an effect on the outcome of the match, since the better driver should have still won the race.

The better F3 driver does not necessarily mean the better F1 driver. Thecc was set up to play on a certain difficulty, so at the end of the day, it was unfair to /mlp/ and /jp/ because they didn't tie in a proper 4cc game. They tied in some other game (something that they didn't prepare for).

Yah essentially this >>167982306

Also sorry for that shitty analogy that essentially insulted /jp/. Was just struggling to show that the affected result =!= the same result.
>>
>>167983002
But one of those drivers was precisely calibrated to drive under the normal conditions, meaning he was well and truly screwed out of his victory.
>>
>>167983002

Some call it "having a discussion". I'm just stating my thought process and even said I'm adding what you said into my considerations for the subject.

I personally don't have the ability to test it, but yah, if we could run a big enough pool of the same settings on both normal difficulty and the one used today, we could try to see if there would be a statistical difference.

Unfortunately, that would take a lot of time to test for, so it's just up in the air. Which is why it's impractical and I agree that it shouldn't be replayed.

>>167983615
I don't think either side can prove it right now, unless multiple tests were done. But that's impractical, so we should just go with Lear's call and keep it as is.
>>
>>167983763

Your eventual tactics and ability to manage your team didn't change. If AI somehow reduces stats, it would have reduced all stats, making all defenders, midfielders and attackers dumber for each team. Both teams tactics would have been downgraded, but that doesn't make one tactic suddenly work better than the other. If your team had a winning tactic, it would have still won. The fact that you had drive in a slower car, does not change the outcome of who is the better driver.

But all of that only matters if AI actually changes anything, which is still unknown.

I'm also fine with leaving it as it is, but there's people that don't understand fucking analogies. The result is that there's potential for unfairness, but unless someone's going to go out and prove that it makes a difference (or doesn't) going with Lear's call is the best option.

>that doesn't make one tactic suddenly work better than the other
I could think of a possibility where -IF AI was affected by difficulty- than it could be bad.

Say Team A had a strategy where their entire offense was setup around thru-balls, and it works on lower difficulties because compactness maybe doesn't work as well, but on higher difficulties it doesn't work because the compact defense actually is smart and knows how to stop the ball.

But I can't prove that it's affected, so yah essentially leaving it to Lear is best.

>>167984236
Yah there is potential, but proving or disproving it is super impractical. For a possible less than a single point average point differential, especially.

It's basically two parts, the first part (which I already implemented but could be redone) is a management dashboard for recordings of hitbox/twitch channels. It is just a ViewController basically. It periodically pulls a json from a custom REST-API and displays its data. It can also send requests to this REST-API.

The second part would be a front-end to cut videos, I have a kinda working WIP lying around, but it's not usable as of yet (and also in plain js, as this predates the management dashboard). All this needs to do is display a video, read the timestamp upon request by the user, compare it to a list of other timestamps, find the closest one and store it for later sending back to the REST-API.

I honestly have not the nerves to learn the crazy javascript toolchain (I tried).

He just started screaming to prove it and it was obvious that it was him. But now that I recall, yah it's possible that he has the ability to use different voices well.

So I did some looking into /u/'s cup history and the best outcome of a team they lose or tie against.

Autumn 2012: Lost to [r9k] in their group, [r9k] lost in the finals.

Spring 2013: Lost to /mlp/ in their group, /mlp/ won the babby cup.

Summer 2013: lost to /wg/ in RO16, /wg/ won the elite cup.

Winter 2014: Tied both /gif/ and /mu/ in their group. Both team eliminated in RO16

Spring 2014: Loses to /tg/ in RO8. /tg/ places 4th.

Summer 2014: Loses to /x/ in RO8. /x/ places 4th.

Winter 2015: loses to /h/ in RO8. /h/ places 2nd.

Summer 2015: loses to /mlp/ in their group. /mlp/ wins elite cup.

Winter 2016: /u/ loses to /fit/ in the finals meaning /fit/ wins an elite up. Seriously this game was actually amazing.

Summer 2016: Ties /mlp/ in their group. /mlp/ wins the elite cup...again.

Autumn 2016: Loses to /jp/ in the semi-finals. /jp/ wins the babby cup.

Winter 2017: ???

6/11 teams that bled /u/ for points or beat them ended up winning that cup. 8/11 went to the cup finals.

Conclusion: Stopping drawing the horsefuckers you cucks and if want to get to the finals pray that /u/ is on your path to it.

Yes, RNG exists but the teams that test more have more success in the elites overall. If you haven't forgotten, the team that tests the most also has more stars than every other team. So you can pretend 4cc isn't highly influenced by strategy and settings, but until a team that runs 0 tests gets as many stars as the team that ran >300 tests, let me know and I'll change my opinion.

>why youve spent 5 hours bitching at how you would have won
If you read the posts, I look at someone else's argument that the problem isn't that one team would necessarily win, but that the normal outcome might not have occured. And I agreed with it.

I apologized for the analogy that was pro/mlp/ here >>167983086 because that was not the point I was trying to make. And I agreed with this anon who fixed what I was trying to say >>167981902, that it's not about who should've won or not, but that the result was not the normal result.

Again, this is what I'm saying:
The result MAY not have been would it should've been (which is the belief I picked up to better explain the problem), but redoing it is impractical and that we shouldn't do it, and that I don't want to do it because it's impractical.

Also the conversation was actually finished (as in, we were done talking about it including me) but an anon brought it up, so I just responded. That's all. I don't mind continuing this conversation, but I don't believe anyone here is having any fun with it. So if you don't wanna talk about a mood-killing discussion, then let's both drop it. If you wanna continue it, sure that's fine.

When you say "it isn't practical," the implication is that you think it would be the ethical or moral thing to do anyway.

And you think it would be the right thing to do because /mlp/ was disproportionately impacted by the AI difficulty setting (even though it doesn't impact AI vs. AI matches).

And you think /mlp/ was disproportionately impacted by the difficulty setting because you don't understand how testing works.

>When you say "it isn't practical," the implication is that you think it would be the ethical or moral thing to do anyway.
No, I mean it in the sense of "we have 3 full weekends of this and stressing the streamers into another unplanned match is much".
>And you think it would be the right thing to do because /mlp/ was disproportionately impacted
I think /mlp/ was disproportionately impacted (not that much, but a little), but what would make the rematch a thing is moreso that the actual result may not have been the real result. For all you know, /jp/ could also have won that with the normal settings, and they got screwed out of a win.
>And you think /mlp/ was disproportionately impacted by the difficulty setting because you don't understand how testing works.
Alright that's a fair statement, maybe I don't. If you'd like, let's talk about exactly what that is, and we'll talk further towards a conclusion we can both agree on.

Yah it was initially one other guy with me, then he left and it was just me. Honestly, no one here is having fun with this discussion so I'd rather just stop, but I'll respond if someone continues the discussion. But I'd rather not continue it. I'd rather just enjoy the hyp and 4cc and not continue a discussion that calmly ended hours ago.

Thanks for recognizing that I wasn't trying to continue it though.

>Alright that's a fair statement, maybe I don't. If you'd like, let's talk about exactly what that is, and we'll talk further towards a conclusion we can both agree on.

Here's my contribution to that. I've done a lot of testing over multiple versions of PES. You've never run a match in 17 or any other version of PES.

End of discussion.

You can't talk inter pares unless the other person is your equal, and you have nothing to bring to the table except damage control.

Fair enough. Nobody here was benefiting from this discussion so the fact that its ending and we just disagree rather than carrying it out for no reason is a good thing.

Honestly there's no point buying PES, since AFAIK konami only offer the PC version of 17 via steam and that will fuck with DLC and possibly the exe version too. The version of PES17 that the cup runs may not be the version that you will get from steam (we run 1.02, konami could push an update at any time which could fuck you up, no really, the retail version will try to "upgrade" our editfile), and steam will push out automatic updates which could clobber your DLC.

Just use the pirated copy on the PES17 install page.

MLP, just like Sonic or Homestuck, uses an extremily simple artstyle so that any autist can fill a body template and make their self insert OC. That's why MLP ponies look like a bunch of cardboard tubes stuck together a with weird head.

Because this version of MLP is literally western moe. Real snouts are uncanny, so like anime they almost removed the snout, the horse teeth, the eyes on the side, and made their eyes big and colorful, full on neoteny, complete with adult voices.

And bam, waifus and fanbase.

I'm sorry, but did /m/ already lose? Oh, that's right. The game isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only halftime. Does not having the 70% possesion at halftime count as a loss? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when the game is still on? /m/ are still playing right now and they have been the best team in the group for how many years now? They're playing one of the worst teams in the cup who just happen to have a lead because they're feeding off the energy of playing in the right formation. But you know what? They still fucking suck. /m/ are one of the best fucking teams in the cup, they went 5-1-1 last year and would of won the summer cup if /mlp/ wasn't favored by boris. Maybe you should shut the fuck up before you make retarded posts like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when /m/ wins and someone bumps this topic. Are you a fucking drunk? Are you retarded? Are you autistic? You are a fucking idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm fucking serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti-/m/ posts because you're a faggot hater who doesn't like the team because they're good. Fuck you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these fucking teams on the board, like I give a fuck.

/m/ got their Preset changed from 3 to 1 when Boris changed to the +2 attack level. I'm not certain on the exact duration but it was from somewhere near the beginning of the second half (it was technically a halftime timeout change) to the point where /vg/ scored its second goal. So maybe like 5-10 ingame minutes?
>>
>>168039220
