I can't tell if I'm a good Soldier main or not.

I average 30-35 kills a game, 15-20 Objective Kills, have like 2-3 minutes on the objective(more if payload), an average of 18-20k damage, and heal around 2.5-3k while dying less than 7-8 times.

I feel like I'm doing a good job but no matter what sometimes I just feel like I'm not having a good game despite getting a shit ton of Golds.

When I ult I usually do it to pave a section or keep the enemy tied up. Every blue moon I get lucky with a flank and end up netting 3-5 good kills, but prefer to work with my team since Soldier can be very fragile at times.

Flashbang does a million useful things. Like cancel death blossom, Reinhardt charges, roadhog hooks. On defense it even makes it harder to dragonblade your team. Overall its a much more meta ability, if your aim is at the point where you actually deserve to be playing DPS, McCree has more potential to be a credit to your team. Picking Soldier every game will hold you back as a player, better to lose rank and play McCree in the SR you deserve than aimbot your way to a rank you don't really know how to play in without a self heal.

Soldier's damage is overestimated by most people, you can feel like you're doing a lot when your team helps finish your targets, but without constantly landing helixes your damage output is still chip-level despite the buff. His ability to make impact plays basically boils down to whether or not they left their Reinhardt at home. He's one of those characters that is basically just canon fodder once there are ults on the board, no crowd control like flashbang, no escape options like shift, blink, teleport or having a fucking jet pack.

Your options as soldier are basically limited to doing chip damage and throwing out helixes and hoping your other dps will be making godlike dives and impact plays on their healers. Characters have to pay attention to soldier, but no one really has to be afraid of him like Tracer/Genji are with flashbang. If someone's coming to fuck with you specifically, you're in for a bad time.

So if you want to be safer, stay behind Reinhardt, and if you want to feel more in control, play another character.

Tracers fucking Blink and Recall is on such a short fucking cooldown that you have to wait until she ends up making the mistake of using all three charges. Symmetra just rushes at you with a no aim beam. All cancer picks.

This "twitch" shooter game where 4/5ths of the weapons used are all slow as fuck projectiles trying to land on faggots prancing about as they spam their god damn space bar as you spam yours because erratic movement trumps aim in this game.

JUST when I think of giving up because matches are rarely balanced and it is just stomp usually I get a match close as fuck with equal skill level and my hope is restored in the game.

Yesterday lijiang tower (6 stack) was intense as fuck. I wish I had captured the match. Both teams had good picks but eventually with three switchable positions and god we switched and they did too based on the composition.

I never had so much fun in the game. Everybody was on fire (irl) and instead of arguing or throwing we communicated and worked with each other.

The turning point on around 70% for both teams was soooo close. They had no luck on the bridge for several times and tried the backdoor. Our hog ulted the corridor walking towards them, but he got serious damage even with Zarya bubbling her. When it seemed the hog is toast Zarya jumped in front of him, tanking as much damage as she can. They were completly cornered at the back with the healtpack but still had too much life and firepower. The Zarya was almost done when our Pharah finally arrived to the scene from the side door behind them and ulted the team to oblivion.

They got a Zarya pull for their last attack and they had no more time to come back.

I wish matchmaking was almost like this. I lost close matches before but it never made me angry unlike regular clusterfuck matches.

How am I supposed to kill half a team on my own, Overwatch is a team game, you shouldn't be completely alone, especially against half the enemy team. Even when you're flanking, you do it during a teamfight to fuck with the healers, not at random times in the match where you'll get 3 solo kills without an ult.

As for Genji's, I got it pretty easily, you just need a big damage dealer like Bastion or Junkrat with one of their teammates and look at them. I have like just over an hour of Genji at most.

Zen's was ridiculous, but I randomly got it on comp Oasis during a teamfight after 40-50 hours of Zen play
Didn't even need Zarya's ult, we just stomped them in said teamfight fast enough for me to get it

I don't think I'll ever get the quad McCree one, I'd need both Zarya and Sombra ults at once, and I don't play McCree in comp for that setup to ever happen

I know it's pretty easy with Zarya, but the only time you get a big grav-bomb is in comp, where I certainly don't play Genji. Same goes for Hanzo.

I don't play Ana much but next time I do I think I'll just ult Zarya when she ults, since the grav-bomb does the slightest bit of damage to the people stuck in it, so I should get assists on everyone who dies from it.

D.va's is all about a lucky blast.

I once got the Junkrat quad but it didn't give me the achievement, and I still don't have it to this day. Yes I'm salty.
I might try the same tactic though, it was on King's Row and I dropped a wheel on the payload from one of the above buildings on the way to the second point, they pretty much didn't get the chance to react.

The rapid discord webm was from a comp game. I think I was lucky with having a combination of that Soldier doing a really good job shooting everyone I tagged and the Zarya ulting the Mercy res.

Also I think some of these achievements are hard to get if you're doing TOO well on that character or game because the achievement asks you to play suboptimally, and you're probably going to constantly picking people off instead of killing them off in one big wombo combo because you couldn't kill them faster.

Like the stupid Reaper achievement, I can easily kill people and mow through the enemy team but I also reload like a motherfucker because that's what you want to do the moment you have spare time. So I never get the achievement. And in QP, everybody is playing the ebin stealth ninjas so I can't actually kill them in 1-2 shots.

And also the solo kill requirement is just bullshit when enemies take damage from who knows whatever shit my teammates are throwing out there.

If an ally gets pulled by hook, it brings them close enough that he can shotgun their face right off.
If D.va defense matrixes on the ally as he's going to shoot, currently in live, too bad they die.
This makes it so she can defense matrix and eat the entire shotgun shot despite the person literally being at the end Roadhog's gun.

I got it randomly with a Pulse Bomb.

Here's a balance update for you : every single character has 200 health, does 10 damage, moves at the same speed, can self-heal for exactly the same amount, has the same ult, has the same fire-rate, and has all the same abilities. Characters need to be buffed, ttk is worse than TF2 for anyone but Roadhog and Widowshitter.

Is it just my experience or Reinhardt mains in general but whenever I see two opposing Reinhardts, they drop everything and fucking 1v1 each other. Ignoring the enemy and payload. I've seen 5 different Reinhardts just charge into a 6 man team alone to 1v1 the other Reinhardt. When there's a pocket Mercy one each of them it's like the biggest cock fighting match with both teams watching.

Not to bag on you or anything, but there have been so many times on Rein where a sudden and unexpected burst of damage has dropped my shield into the double digits and I have to drop it and let it regen, only for someone on my team to choose that exact moment to do something that requires them to set up behind my shield, and then they die and call me an asshole.

after a lot of zenyatta spamming im left asking the same question that I ask after playing mccree which is why would you play mccree when you can just play soldier who does everything mccree does but better

same with zen, why would you play zen when you can just play ana. If you're going to play "wannabe dps support" ana does a better job. If you put discord on someone it still takes 3 shots at least to kill them, ana just does the same thing anyway. the only thing zen can do is headshot while ana can't, but he still cant straight up one tap people with discord, he has to at least double tap, and when you're on ana you can triple tap anyone plus you have scoped hitscan. And yeah a well aimed right click can essentially one shot but idk, that shit has like spread, not to mention the shots do the same as zen's regular primary fire anyway, which already has a pretty high fire rate. Not to mention ana's hitbox is actually really advantageous, while zen's is probably worse than torb john's.

tldr you can frag out just as hard on ana as you can on zen so why bother playing zen ever

With Zen, you can heal and DPS at the same time. Ana's primary means of attacking and healing are one and the same so you have to pick and choose between doing damage or healing. I would never pick Zen to solo heal over Ana, but learning how to play Zen will help you in the long run because in order to be effective with him, you need to be able to aim and track heads. With Ana, teammate hitboxes are much more generous, so it's very easy to heal with her.

Zen's ult is also powerful against negating Zarya's/Genji's/Soldier's etc. Ana's isn't.

yeah but ana can just keep her team fullhealed while zen's healing is like lucio healing except single target (ie complete garbage). Yeah Ana's grenades nullifies it but it's not like your team always deals with Ana+Zarya and it has a cooldown too. Zen can also contest with his ult and it's saved my team dozens of times. With Ana you either heal or damage, you can't do both at the same time.

I say arguing who is better is futile, they're fundamentally different and useful in different situations and team compositions.

Ana uses her shots to heal, wasting shots on enemies can leave your team dead while you're reloading. Her fire rate is abyssmal, Zen does double her dps easily, even without headshots. Discord doesn't just add Zen's damage, it adds everyone elses too, you would know this if you worked with your team than around them, you don't even need to fucking communicate to be able to discord a target a teammate is attacking and assist. Zen can heal while attacking, so he's much more dextrous on that front. Zen's RMB is good for point blank surprises when turning corners, you're more or less wasting time trying to use it at ranged targets.

Zen is the closest to a support being able to carry fights, problem is you gotta pay attention to your teammates just as much as you gotta watch your enemies.

let's just agree to disagree here, discord is nice, it has no CD and you can just mindlessly apply it for free to anyone constantly, but I'm not sure its really gamebreaking, not to mention ana's antihealing is arguably more valuable anyway

you can do this with ana, it's just really difficult to git gud at, not to mention if one of your dumbass teammates sees you trying to pick off a low health while they're 195/200 they're almost guaranteed to throw a complete shitfit because le dps ana memerey. And yeah, the "proper" way to play ana is to just go full healbot, and it's probably the way you're going to have the most success in the short term, but what I'm saying is that if you can strike a balance between keeping your team topped off and also landing well aimed shots on lowhealth backliners on the enemy team, you're going to be more of a menace to the enemy team than you would be on zen, at least in my experience. And like I played a lot of zen, I was "maining" him for a little while and I put in like 30+ hours (i know that's not anything too crazy but still I think it's enough to have some valid experience) and at the end of the day what I took away from it is that ana offers everything he does but better.

and also like I said in my previous post I agree that zen's ult is really good but A an ana grenade can completley negate it and B its not like ana's ult is bad even though it wont deny a wombo. Also ana cant do much about a zarya grav bomb but a genji or soldier ult she can sleepdart.

The problem with giving Reaper better 1v6 fighting power is just that he's going to be stupidly strong while solo.

I personally blame the one hero rule since the game wasn't originally designed with no-dupes in mind. When your choices are "squishy DPS" and "75% DPS but 500+ HP and shields and stuns", you're always going to gravitate towards as many of the latter as you can fit. Getting rid of the rule won't fix things anymore but Blizzard needs to deincentivize picking tanks, not buffing tank killers because that's just power creep. It'll just become three-tanks + Reaper instead of three tanks + something. Same goes for the other offense heroes. Buffing their damage / killing power won't change the three-tank meta, only enables it.

I finally figured out why blizzard refuses to nerf Rein. If they did, their cancerour "chokepoints are good" assault maps would completely fall apart. Attacking teams would have a 20% winrate.

more like ana does double his. zenyatta does 46 dmg per shot, a discorded target he does ~60 dmg per bodyshot, ana does 80 damage baseline per shot. Don't automatically trigger it when your team is in a graviton. Half the time you waste it and don't have it when nanoweeb comes.
Most important thing is to decide beforehand which enemy ults you want to counter (Typically Graviton and Nanoboost) and anticipate them. Play Mercy to learn how to hide and save yourself from harm so you can save your team.

Except unlike pharah he can cancel it. You have the option of going for a quicker draw if you're about to get boned, that's still every 200 hp character on the screen at 30hp and you alive with the rest of your team to finish them off. He's a powerful enough character not to need his ult to dominate a fight anyways, if you're waiting it out to kill tanks with it you're doing it wrong. Especially considering its more useful to stagger and charge ult for the next fight off tanks anyways.
