The Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278 was one of the biggest pitched battles during the high medieval period.

I know a little about the origins of what we commonly call "knights" today. Rich/noble landowners during the Carolingian period who could afford horses and whatnot.
I also know there was no actual "written-down" ruleset, but rather an array of ideals and virtues, which of course were more a guideline than absolute commandments.
