You're supposed to get back damage as a bonus but rangers easily out damage that boost, so it doesn't matter.

You are supposed to dodge though, as tamer I just dodge through the boss when they attack and I'm behind them starting my combo instantly. Pretty much all melee classes do that in some way.

Those she-elves drink mana potions like alcoholic sailors. It's only a mild inconvenience, though. Usually you get loot at nearly the same rate as you drink MPs, in terms of weight management. Might need to bring a wagon or have a storage maid if you plan on staying there for hours, though.
