Yeah the lore book does basically open everything up in a lot of ways. It kinda spoiled the identity of the Warring Triad's questline's main character (mostly through deduction), but at the same time also explained why I should even give half a hoot about the Ascian added to the mix in HW (who mostly just exists so I don't feel too spoilery just mentioning her).

I appreciate the depth to it. Even if it didn't tell me Alphinaud's favourite food, and completely ignored every single one of the non-beastman NPCs from the ARR Beast Tribes quests.

yeah, a lot of the beast tribes are also actually pretty desperate and feel like they need their primals to defend them. kinda think of it along the lines of nuclear weapons, in order to play with the big boys who have nukes (city states with sizable armies/standing forces that could wipe you out pretty easy) you need a nuke of your own to stand toe-to-toe with them, primals, in this case.
