I just got the Des Moines very recently and haven't had the time to grind up the credits to have it fully upgraded (which is something i want to do before i play a match in it)
a couple of months ago (i forgot what the conversation was about) one of my friends who plays told me they have the same shell speed, i interpreted that as "Hang time".
to try and not make an ass out of my self which i have obviously failed at i made a very quick double check re-assure my self which is why i hastily posted those links.

IFHE works best on 152mm armed cruisers though it is still viable on the 180mm ships. The improvment it give's is pointless on the 220mm guns since the HE on them rarely breaks.

This again depends on the tier. At low-mid tiers you're fighting at much closer ranges. On many occasions I've welped destroyers with a torpedo barrage followed immediately by a rudder incapacitation and have been saved many times by my rudder and engine being workable when I lose them.

Depends. Yes, it's mandatory for KM BBs because the expectation is that you brawl, and you will lose damage because of it. For IJN BBs up through Amagi? Not so much. You're gonna be playing from medium range or beyond for most of the game, and 4 repair parties are more than enough for that. The same applies for USN BBs through Colorado, depending on playstyle. IJN BBs starting from Izumo and USN BBs starting from NC should take SI because you become the bow-on cancer, and the damage that you take doesn't come from brawling but, rather, being on fire all the time.

I also find that I don't use up all my smoke. IJN DDs can invisifire real early, and with the huge number of ships with radar now, it's easier to just fire in invisifire range instead of sitting in smoke, especially since everyone and their mother sends torps into smoke now. I find that even with more of a gun-centric build, I use my smoke not-infrequently on allies rather than on myself.

I drop RPF because it's not as important. I had a few games where I wish I had it but those don't come often enough.

There's not much use for AFT because you'll only fire your guns when shit goes wrong or you are free to shoot. PT helps to not get shot at too so you can actually be closer and scare the enemies with your presence.

Here's what I've found works best with the YamCam; play it the same way you would play Kongo. Play it like a semi-brittle, fast aggressive battlecruiser that uses its speed to get to a good firing position. Bow on sniper-and-shoot doesn't work. At least for me. I find getting as close as possible is the best idea and since MOST of the enemy bb's will play like bow on cowards, you and you can overmatch their bows (and other than other Yam's, they can't do it to you) I just drive straight at them and plow their bow. Also, never turn your back in the Yamato, it seems to have terrible stern armor.

In general, I find playing T10 like it's T5 works alot better and is more fun.

And these are my favorite BB's. I don't like the Yamato for the most part cause it really does play like easy mode. It's arcs are perfect, it's accuracy is scary, I never get those annoying penetrating-but-non-damaging hits I get in most BB's and yeah, overmatching everyone's bow is trolltastic. That all said, T10 is boring and so is the Yamato overall. I love the Warspite and I feel it's my best boat overall.

Is it me being horrible at the game or is it fucking impossible to keep a 70k avg damage in a Mogami in this meta? The majority of the games BBs don't push to more than 2 map squares off the caps so all I can do is finish off other t8 CAs that tried to get in range and got chunked down by BBs and shoot unsuspecting DDs so I'm mostly irrelevant to the outtcome of the match. It happens so often so I must be doing something wrong even though for the first 40 games it was hands down the most fun ship I have ever played ,what am I doing wrong ,what can I do to have fun in it again?

I've got a googledoc that tracks all my 16" USN and 5" secondary shell hits against DDs. With a sample size of 264 16" HE and 298 16" AP shells I've managed 1447 and 1460 avg damage per shell respectively. Observed fire ignition chance is 20.63% with each fire doing 343 avg damage. (The box plot I've attached is a little outdated.)

You aren't imagining the bullshit. WG decided to make DDs immune to citadels because alpha testers thought it was unfair that a 12K ton tin can would get dev striked every time it got within 5km of a 60 to 70K ton BB. To put this in perspective, this would be like Valve testing TF2 and saying "Scout players are tired of getting shredded by Heavies in short range engagements. Let's reduce the Heavy's effectiveness against the Scout, and only the Scout, by about 80% so it's a fair fight."

Here's the problem; it's the wrong counter. DD's being the counter is unintutive and relies on fantasy stats that turn the game into something beyond science fiction, but rather tolken-esk fantasy. They have to remove their citadel, invent the asinine sighting mechanic, smoke being exclusive to them (when BB's were the ones that laid their own smoke more often than not), and magical 1-1.5 minute reloading torpedos. They frankenstiened Destroyers into something that can be viable against a battleship, and that's why there is so much hate towards DD's from BB's, because they might as well have included Star Destroyers as they are about as realistic as the way Destroyers function in game.

No, its not having a counter that's the problem, its that the natural counter to Battleships, Carriers, are so deplorable and gimped that they don't serve much purpose. As a result DD's have to get the aforementioned fantasy upgrades to fill that role. What they should do is give CV's realistic loadouts and the ability to launch fighters to useful levels, nerf the shit out of ship based torpedo and buff the HELL out of DD AA and make the game actually resemble reality.

You know I was there when that was going on, and I am a BBaby, and I just didn't care. I never found CV's to be overpowered in a way that didnt make sense at least. Yes they killed me, and yeah it was 'annoying' but I felt I had a better chance against a CV or at least I felt I could do something about it, whereas a DD it's 90% luck, on both our parts. I don't feel it's as much luck for a CV to get a kill, now or pre-nerf, and I felt, as the target, more in control. Yeah I may eat a torp, but the damage of CV torps was always tolerable, so if I have to eat a torp to not eat 10, or to keep my cit pussy away from the enemy, yeah I'll do that. I don't have that same sentiment to a DD strike.

The key problem with antistrike is that it lacks the strike. AS negates another carrier but that's all it does.

The way to fix carrier loadouts is that you take plons based on a points system. The higher the tier the more points you have, and the more of one type of plon you take, the more expensive it becomes. Carriers also have infinite plons but as they lose plons squadrons take progressively longer to reinforce. Flight control modules provide bonuses to plons so you can research and use the one for the plons you want to specialize in.

Knowing wargaming they'll just make carriers worthless though.

I think this could work if you let the player decide his loadout before hand by himself, with a set limit of maximum squadrons depending on the carrier and the freedom to decide what squadrons he wants to take into battle without being pigeonholed into predetermined loadouts.

Potentially you could also let the player combine or divide the squadrons by himself also to have squadrons of varying plane numbers.

They can do it the way it's done in Steel Ocean. Given a total plane count and a certain cap on what percentage can be a single plane so you don't get one chuckle fuck gets 80 DBs for keks. It's almost a contradiction in terms, as simple damage dealing is one of the main roles of BBs. Sure, there are situations where you may have a choice between finishing off an important target with a sliver of health or taking a big chunk out of a fresh one, but it's not really possible to engineer such situations consistently enough to farm damage (and hence WTR) with Yamato, or most other BBs for that matter.

Rules of Chinese:

The thing they fail to consider is that tier 7 boats have the tools to deal with tier 9 boats. Tier 5 boats don't really have the tools to deal with tier 7 boats.

I really just can't understand it, it makes seal clubbing easier than ever because T4 gets the easiest MM short of T10, it's bound to make queue times longer because they're limiting the MM ranges for a bunch of ships, and it's now really common to hear people say they've given up on ships at T5/6 because whether they're good botes or not the MM is just so punishing for seemingly no reason that it means virtually none of them are fun to play.

It's the most bizarre thing, they've actually managed to overcome one of the biggest problems with WoT (having just terrible gameplay in the lower tiers which drives off players) and made low tiers and the start to the game actually pretty enjoyable while also making it so that being bottom tier isn't anywhere near as bad, and yet then they go and decide to just fuck it all up by making the tiers that are going to be some of the most played for a lot of their playerbase as painful as they possibly can with the only justification for doing so seeming to be 'well it's not that bad'. I don't even mind being bottom tier in those kinds of ships, yeah, it's not that bad, but when you're bottom tier in just about every game you play it just gets so frustrating that it kills a lot of the enjoyment for what should be some of the more fun parts of the game.
