FE isn't as popular as shit like Fate in Japan and China apparently, and the mobage doesn't have the appeal of a FF artstyle or big names like Nobou Uematsu tied to it like GBF does.
I can see it becoming more popular in the west though, and the gameplay is bound to be much more intuitive than FGO or Grindblue at least, seeing as it's an actual strategy rpg.
That said, even if it isn't a top grossing giant like those two, it still has a lot more going for it than most of the mobage saturating the market nowadays, so who knows.

FGO and Granblue are way bigger than a mobage needs to be to survive and get supported. There's probably no chance of FEH failing just based off what we know about it, Fate pulls in a lot of money for a relatively obscure brand, but FE is bigger than it in scale. All the elements for success are here, and decent gameplay isn't necessarily one of them.

I think you're overestimating Fate as a brand. Everyone on 4chan recognizes it because of the ecosystem we have here. No Fate game has ever come close to Fire Emblem in debuts just in Japan. They're considered successes because they make money on a lower profile and budget, New Mystery is considered one of the biggest failures in the Fire Emblem franchise and to my memory, outsold any licensed Fate product ever released by over double.

It's a common thing people do in mobage, they finish the tutorial to get their free starting rolls and then just delete their file and redo them if the free starting rolls aren't desirable.

It's yet to be seen whether it's even worth the time for this game, but in a lot of mobage it's extremely impractical not to do it if character value is really slanted or the odds of rolling a decent character in the future are particularly bad.
