Spam colonists, you need money to do it though. You can colonise as many places as you want at once, if you have the money. If not you have to do it like a pleb with one colony per colonist.

You have to push it to a single CoT, with merchants pushing it there every step of the way, if that's not possible, say, the Ottomans own all of the Gulf of Aden then you have to push it as far as possible, so, from Canton to Goa. You get a big penalty for collecting out of your home node though.

Depends if they're upstream or not. Spain colonising the Caribbean makes sense, as that trade goes to Seville, but Brunei colonising Brazil doesn't.

Yeah, Paradox took a pretty hard line fairly recently, locking computers, taking down the archive, apparently if you have pirated content on your computer and are signed into steam it detects it, even if you're not using it with the game.

Yeah, morale damage is a stat. If they have higher base morale and high morale damage they'll shatter your army before you can even do anything. There are various modifiers from ideas, policies, and making sure you're on the highest military tech that all affect stuff like that. France, for instance, gets a big morale boost from their Elan! tradition.

Also, another thing to keep in mind is combat width. By default it's 15, iirc, and basically that's how many regiments can actually be part of the battle at once. Artillery goes on the back row, so it has a separate width altogether, and provides damage reduction to your infantry. Having more artillery than your combat width does nothing for you, but having more infantry is helpful since they take the majority of the casualties in battles. Cavalry you only need as much as your flanking bonus, so 2/4/8/etc.

Also shock is your most important stat for pretty much the whole game.

Collect where you have a majority or hopefully a monopoly. Transfer from trade nodes where you don't down the line to ones you do. Your pic for example, collecting in Malacca, your home node, yes, as well as in The Moluccas as you have (I assume) all the trade power there. Transfer the Chinese nodes to the Philippines and the Philippines to The Moluccas, as well as Australia. Trade value gets a 5%? value bonus when transferred.

Colonies are worth it imo. Good income bonus, +10 naval and +5 land force limits once they hit 10 province as well as an extra merchant and +5% global trade power

Generally everywhere's good, cause of free land. Focus near you, try to find provinces that, one you colonize block off a section so others can't touch it; you can come back to it once competition is gone for land other have access too.

Are colonies technically worth it from a meta standpoint? I mean you lose 2 ducats per colony per month be generous and say its a decade for a colony to become a province its way slower early game and faster later. It costs 240 ducats per province or about 1200 ducats to make a colonial nations. And just as a quick check Spain makes about 10 ducats per colonial nation in the seven year start. So it takes 2 years per province for a colonial nation to pay for itself. And thats per province. Unless were talkin gold in which case its more like 300 ducats per year.

I decided to experiment a bit with Victoria 2 modding, to get a better grasp of modding, and I've already run into issues.

I tried to find out whether I could remove all country tags but one, but I keep crashing at adapting history.

I've removed all but the Morocco and rebels in common/countries, I've removed all tags in countries.txt except those two, removed all country_colors.txt except Morocco, and removed all decisions and events, and removed the non-start bookmark.

In history I've removed all but Morocco and rebels in countries, removed all files in diplomacy and wars, changed all provinces to be Moroccan (and produce only grain, incidentally), and removed all OOB except for Morocco and rebels, which both are just empty files to avoid relation references to tags that don't exist.

I can't for the life of me figure out why it crashes at adapting history. What am I missing? Is it making references to tags somewhere else that I don't know about?
