Magic hours and nomakes sounded like they were written by the staff who do the commus for the games in contrast to the anime. Just saying, but quite a bit of the commus are dramatic and somber as well. There are quite of them that would fit in with the "forced drama" of the anime. Idolmaster and drama have always gone hand in hand. And I've always found it strange that /@/ complains about drama in any of the imas anime even when the games themselves doesn't exactly have a shortage of them either.

And jokes aside, the anime was pretty consistent. It certainly was drama sure and I guess some people here don't like drama, but it knew the story it wanted to tell. The events of the previous episodes built on each other and contributed to the overarching plot and theme of the show.

For other more serious series. When the author inserts in lighthearted or comedic moments. I've seen people complain about how it "ruins the flow" or how it was completely "unneeded".

Meanwhile, here we have an anime that focuses on the more somber narrative that is it's primary framing. It actually finds a sort of solution to the above complaint by making the fun stuff available in side-material (that is canon to the main story but doesn't impede on the main anime framing) that folks can approach on their own leisure time. But then now we have people saying that -THOSE- should be in the anime instead.

You could see that this incident really shook Momoka and bruised her ego.

Now that I think of it, I can name a lot more times Sana replaces an Individuals member for reasons than the number of times she hangs around Hikaru. Replacing Shouko, replacing Nono, and hanging around Mirei, but not so much about Hikaru.

I took Reina-Akiha from the Mecha-Kirari event, where they both played Setsuna's minions. It was just a play, but it was interaction nonetheless. I tend to percieve most play-based interactions as established interactions and an expansion to one's circle of comradery. Plus, some of these play interactions are nodded to in later things, such as some interaction with Kanna and Hikaru as a tribute to their roles in the Phantom Thief event.

Maybe I am grasping at straws. Among these, only Chika and Mary have been established to be allies of both, and Tachibana, Kaoru and Yukimi have practically 0 interaction with either of them as far as I can recall. Still, the other 11 are mutual friends with each other, creating a web of comradery.

I can bring up old breadstix who got along well with Hikaru thanks to a certain incident during a Production Match and hung out with Reina during the course of the Norway event.

They're as forgettable as Riina's pre-Natsuki unit(the one with Layla and Kiyomi and the other one), and it isn't exactly recurring. but they're something to go by.

Anyways, Hikaru has only started to have more appearances from 1.5 years ago onwards after a rather long hiatus. 5komas featuring L.M.B.G do feature them having more of a rival-like relationship than previously shown, aforementioned 'previously shown' being the 'Hikaru is fucking dead' era.
