Leviathan, Excalibur, Behemoth are your best options for getting into a populated server. The majority of posters here play on Balmung, which you will most likely have to pay for a transfer to get on. Gilgamesh is the next largest server, but you'll have a hard time getting in there too. Due to the stupid as fuck character creation system in this game if you want to get into a populated server you need to wait for off-hours, like late as fuck at night or early-ish in the morning, to make a character.

Uh, you would just grind lore from Aetherochemical Research Facility and buy i230 gear until you have the ilvl to do void ark and weeping city. You should have the ilvl for void ark already if you have the ilvl to queue for A3S.

Then you do void ark and get farthings, weeping city and get more i230 gear and pennies to change your 230 lore gear into 240 lore gear. You should also do A8 Normal 4 times to acquire gears to purchase a 230 lore weapon if you don't already have a padjali or kinna weapon from palace of the dead. You can upgrade that lore weapon if you'd like with farthings/pennies, but once you hit i230 you can start doing creator normal for i250 gear. Once you hit i235 you can also do zurvan and get an i265 weapon.

So what if i erp with lalas, nothing wrong with that. Were all grown men here. Im not a pedo or anything.

Restrictions for tokens do not apply to Void Ark, Weeping City, or Midas normal. I thiiink they did remove the loot lockout from Creator normal, but I believe you're still limited to one alexandrian gear (8 of them will get you a shire weapon) per week. Not sure about creator as I don't do it regularly. Of course the fastest way to gear up once you get up into the 240-250 range is to do Creator Savage, but that may not be time efficient for a totally new player as you''d have to join learning parties and that sort of thing. If you've got friends or if you're in an FC you can see if people will take you into A9S and A10S to clear/get pages (and handily get rid of your bonus so you can join pf weekly kills and get loot), not much to those fights at all. You can get a tomestone from 10 and use that + 1000 scripture to get an i260 shire weapon, rather than having to do 8 weeks of A12N. They'll lift the A12N gear restriction in 3.55 though, which is probably 7-8 weeks from now haha.

I'm so confused on what to do as AST. It seems really fucking complicated. As WHM cleric stance swapping was fine and dandy, still fucks me over on occasion when I double press or panic but that's just me needing to work on shit.

I get the card gimmick, I generally want AoE Balance or Bole if I can and if not just work with what I get.

But throwing Diurnal and Noct stances on top of stances on top of a gimmick sounds like a pain in the ass to micromanage. Is AST Micromanage hell or is it worth leveling?

the only things with lockout currently are:
dun scaith (1 piece of dropped 260 gear and 1 token needed to upgrade 260 tome gear to 270)

POSSIBLY the gears from a12n that turn into a tomestone, which is needed to get a 260 weapon

not sure on the last one. Farming creator normal is not worth it imo, but I'm biased because my experience with midas normal pugs in 3.3 was horrible. If you can steal some friends for an hour or two though it might not be bad. I'd just do sohm al HM runs once you get to i230 (which is more or less full lore gear) as it'll cap your scripture very fast to buy 260 gear and still gets you 80 lore per run if you need it for anything. 3.5 experts drop 245 gear (sohm al is faster than baelsar's wall).

you can't swap those stances once you enter combat. the card skills are all off-gcd so you do the cards while casting all your other shit at the same time. it's quite fun imo, although I think WHM is the most fun because of its dps skills/animations. And that's not what you do with the cards. You spend the entire time fishing for a balance, preferably spread unless you are catering to someone or you're in duty finder and someone is way better than the rest of your group. Spear is completely useless, but the other cards may have some situational value. However, unless you happen to draw them at the exact moment they are needed, you discard/royal road them and fish for Balance. Balance is everything.

As someone who mains WHM it's actually a lot of fun. Having an upfront heal on your regen in diurnal or an INSTANT shield in noct almost feels like cheating.

Cards also make it a lot less monotonous because you're doing something other than spamming stone 3 or malefic 2 every 30 seconds, and feeding cards to your friends in 24mans is always fun.

They're not terribly different since they involve keeping up a certain buff. DRG is obviously more mobile though and the jumps and animations are fun to look at. BLM damage is fun to look at too
