Yes, very wise. There are breakpoints for when you'll get extra i-frames for your rolls, and your equip % also affects how much distance you'll get with your rolls. Always stay under 70% (up from 50% in DaS1) so that you don't fat-roll, but for every 10% below you get increased roll distance, which does help against certain bosses.

A decent shield will still help you throughout the game, so don't be afraid to buy that Kite Shield from Maughlin.

As for Dex/Fai, best advice I can give you for weapons is to go to Heide's Tower of Flame and try to obtain a weapon there. Those Heide Knights are pretty hard to kill, but they can be parried fairly reliably.

Greatshields are god like in DS2, especially when paired with a Lance and heavy Armor!
I feel like people really only had a problem with AGL being a thing is because most didn't bother trying to go with Heavy Armor and Great Shields. They still had the impression from ds1 that rolling was the way to go no matter what. I also really missed poison actually being really strong in this game. Poison Turtling as hilarious.

I'm also playing Demon's Souls on another console and I'm surprised that DS2 really is quite similar to Demon's in terms world design. I say Demon's still it far better but I like what is here in DS2.

Having loads of endurance is never bad, it's the best stat in the game by far (they had to directly nerf it in the next 2 games). You level that shit whenever you think you have enough damage.

As for Blighttown, as long as you have a decent bow and the shield you picked up in the Depths, you should be fine. You should also carry some Blooming Purple Moss. Beyond that, just play the area like you would anywhere else, advance slowly and be careful of traps and ambushes.

From what I remember, we were just more organized, even if we weren't trying. Bloodshades would just scatter and then get killed instead of attacking in groups. Even when we waited for them to group, they would scatter again.

I remember once we left a bro Vicar alone on top of the stairs by accident and he moped 4 phantoms in a row before we were able to get there. Most of us were average, but there were some Vicars that could easily take 3 shades alone at the same time.

This the third character i havent had to do catacombs of carthus on because I got invaded for a third time as soon as i got in there(cause im embered i guess), Each time its happened ive seeded though and they have cleared the place for me lol, i only show myself(second guy actually found me after running past a couple times) after theyve done all the work for me and ran out of estus, then i kill them in an honorabru duel which i chug in for fun(like estusing 200 dmg) and point down after i win, great troll.

To elaborate a little more on the greentext, it was a couple of well-connected but minuscule areas that made it feel very short (but albeit decent level design). The real pain is in the bosses. The first just isn't interesting in the slightest, and too easy, even without phantoms. Friede and Ariandel, on the other hand, is clearly the interesting boss that they actually put some effort in. But it seems they prioritized being flashy and cool over actually being fun to fight. The third phase has so many uninterruptible combos that deal fucktons of damage that it's essentially full of oneshots until you learn all the tells. Which would be fine, if it wasn't the third phase after an already patience-testing second phase. If you're not going at it with a fuckton of vitality/bunch of phantoms, it takes forever to learn Friede's 3rd phase and it just turns into such a grind to go through the first two phases again. Although once you've actually learned it, it's a fine fight I guess. But not the best in the series, not by a long shot.

Quills, Valorheart and Friede's are more interesting and while none of them are the best weapons in their class, they're all good weapons and unique.
Millwood is just a power creep weapon. It's just like Onyx, a very good weapon but not for reasons that make it interesting to play.
