It smelts faster but it also has a different slot layout.

It only smelts one thing at a time but has a large top slot buffer and a large fuel buffer. The mod is alright I guess. The powered furnaces from other mods are a lot better. The furnace is pretty underpowered for its cost actually.

Should I alter Custom Ore Gen conf or should I alter the world gen conf if I want to alter what Y levels ore's spawn on?

You either did not read or are intentionally ignoring literally all three of the points - aside from the one about fun - in my last post. All three of them contradict what you just said

Best case scenario for /mcg/ posts about the serb: I will see them exactly as quickly as I would have seen them if it had been posted in the discord. This only happens less than 1/4th of the time. The thing about discord is that it always pings me when someone posts a message, regardless of whether or not they took the time to quote one of my posts. Rather than benefiting me, it benefits players by A: being able to spot posts about the server instantly 100% of the time if they have discord pings enabled and instantly knowing that the post is related to TFOR in some way (a feature which /mcg/ does not have), and B: not forcing them to search through literally hundreds of posts for just the *possibility* of finding pertinent information about TFOR

You can't with traincraft tracks, they're pretty dumb and don't have the functionality.

Railcraft however does, in its more advanced rails like the station tracks and shit. just read their tooltips, check them out on the railcraft wiki.

but I can guarantee that whatever you're trying to do will or eventually will break a train because they do not play nicely with those rails. if you want to automate moving stuff using Railcraft and its loaders, use minecarts.

What mods can I add in order to make the vanilla version feel more lively and WITHOUT making it feel cheesy and losing its vanilla feel?

Some examples are like adding more food, more neutral creatures/hostile creatures, better lighting that actually give off a decent amount more of light than redstone/glowstone lamps, and more deco blocks blocks. Actual fish in the water would also be especially cool as the oceans in this game are extremely empty unless you count squid.

What I DON'T want is bullshit that makes the game blatantly easier like jetpacks/item tubes or whatever.

Weapons/armor past diamonds would be cool tho assuming there is additional ore blocks to mine for said weapons.

if you get really picky with carpenter's collapsible blocks you can hack it. they're somewhat smart so you can match the grade at one end and place more along the slope and it will copy the slope you've started.

however they are also affected by ANY nearby blocks so you MUST make a clear area when working with collapsible blocks because they can be TOO smart and make an ungodly amount of work for you.

its also possible that copying the traincraft slope grade is impossible because of how its rendered so you'll at best get a slope that copies it to a point but will not be exact.

Forestry is lowtech style farming, bee breeding, and tree breeding. Can get pretty autism.

IC2 is the granddaddy of all tech mods. Probably the best mod to play with to get an understanding of how tech mods play. Doesn't have any kind of item or liquid transport though.

Thaumcraft is a magic/alchemy mod, which gets more and more eldritchy towards endgame, and it has a lot of addons which make it much better.

Is there a server running TrainSerb2?

Also, the technic link in the word file doesn't work for a technic modpack.

To start off with, having your porch, floor and interior/exterior walls all nearly be the same color wood is gonna make your final product look like ass. You should use a darker wood like spruce for the outside porch at least, I think it'll contrast better, look like less of a big blob box. Have some of the interior walls be wool off the top of my head, to emulate the shitty paper walls nips had. I'd use have the darker wood as an accent to the shit, like corner walls and shit.

I'd recommend using logs of the same wood as planks for "accents" instead of diffirent planks with one exception: black planks with white planks.
Make some pillars, windows and "delete" part of the house - like those two rooms. Why? Because right now it still looks like a square, you need to use diffirent shape than square to not make it look like one.
My idea: delete area with 2 rooms, build second floor but make second floor have those "two rooms" above now empty space - this way it won't look too cluttered but you will still have a roof (but no walls) over there.
