The only people actually interested in that kind of stream are other devs (and very few non-devs). And those will usually stop watching when they notice they can't learn anything from watching you do it.

I would say the livestreams are bad for your personal development

If you want to do it, I would honestly, record the development session offline, then just stream the video playback and answer questions in chat when/if they come up.

Unless you're doing something like that project that's being entirely streamed, its not worth it.

Twitch as a platform is good for a lot of things, but it's absolutely not good for game development since there is a lot of fucking around and often you're going back to something way after the fact.

Youtube is a much better platform for game dev stuff imo.

I gotta say that I really don't get it at all but that GUI is simply hella stylized. But I'm not sure if that's in a bad way yet or not as I have no context.

A big problem for me, I'm trying to make sure my GUI is visible in split screen mode so I have a set area I can have it in and that's it. This forces me to have to get really creative or die trying. I don't know how well I did since I can't step back from it at the moment since I'm to involved, but I did get nice comments on it the other day even though it's STILL spotty as shit. But I will say that that is way better than what I would have done if I didn't have limitations.

Yeah, I know. The RPG side of my game is complete, I'm implementing merging it into the action side, and then I'm focusing on the action side. I do already have netcode and the like for it, and I'm just pushing forward with it. Almost all games have load points, where the player must go through to advance to another part of the map, it used to be black screen with loading on it, but modern games started adding pre-rendered cutscenes to it to make the transition less visible.

I added environment detection. So if the player for example opens the cockpit in space, without putting his helmet on first, he will start taking related damage (suffocating and slowly freezing)

Not if you're prepared for it. It wouldn't exactly be pleasant though. The important thing is to not breathe. The moment you do the extreme difference in pressures will literally pull all the gas out of your lungs and potentially cause other sorts of damage.

You'll be in an immense amount of pain as well, as your fluids will boil. Not your blood, thankfully, but it'll still cause you to swell up in size. If you manage to not breathe during this you've got about 15 seconds of oxygen.

If you brought an oxygen tank along though the wonders do not cease. The UV rays from the stars are going to give you a wicked sunburn -- worse, since you've got the full full spectrum of starlight hitting you, your DNA is also going to get shot to hellfire as you get pounded by cosmic radiation. Enjoy your cancer.

It is also extremely cold but thanks to it being a vacuum you'll only lose heat very slowly.

In sum, you've got about 1 or 2 minutes before you die in space without a suit.

You can be a Fighter Mech with the ability to greatly customize your loadout/abilities. Basically your generic fighter with many permutations.

You can be an intel/surveyor person inside of the main giant battleship who surveys the entire field and points ships that are out on the field to the correct locations for objectives, healing, and enemy ships.

There's the Battleship Captain who has control of the giant space battleship and who must focus on damaging the other enemy battle ship. Has control of the giant "Shell Laser" as well as sending out orders to the other team members. Your standard fighter units can ask for assistance, like sending them the "XF 218 Sword Arm" attachment once you've racked up points.

i feel like i had a clear goal in mind when i started but as i get further in development, it is difficult to feel motivated to not simply be a clone or work in the shadow of castlevania. when i try to break free and try new ideas, the foundation tends to be contradictory because it doesn't have room for innovation. plus other problems like not using delta time along with a ton of timers which are incompatible with delta timing ends up making the idea of working on it not very pleasing.

It's mostly a console thing, and since Japanese devs cannot into PC they tend to do it the most.

Plenty of Western & PC devs do it too though, it's just general incompetence.

Hey guys, I got fired and got some dev time now but I have a question.
I want to make a 2d roguelike, I have a few years experience with unity, would it be better to switch and learn something new focused on 2d like game maker or stay with unity because I have experience with it even if its not the best for 2d?

Of it's constant then just drop the game and start a new one, no shame in that, don't worry about what other people say, the game has to be good enough to keep you motivated first of all.
If it happens to you constantly with every project, then maybe game dev is not your thing, or maybe there's only a particular part of game dev you are into, and you should focus on doing just that.

For me the motivation can drop when working on a certain feature or when doing the tedious parts of it, but I just switch to doing something else for the game for a while and that fixes it. A good thing about being a 1MA is that there's always something different to do, if you've been coding for weeks, you can switch to art and vice versa.

So to answer your question, I do feel like not doing a particular dev thing sometimes, but I always feel like working on my game.
