The thread is dedicated to all games about building machines and systems out of blocks, in space or otherwise. Also, all these games are ded. Only ded games may join, otherwise they must have their own thread.
Whether or not a game belongs in /egg/ is a case by case matter, however games that would belong in /svgg/, space voxel games general, are automatically considered /egg/

WebM for retards:
>gitgud.io/nixx/WebMConverter.git

List of currently known and vaguely not dead /egg/ games (this list is not fully inclusive and if you think a game might belong here, feel free to ask):
>Algodoo

>Besiege
>Chode - Children of Ded Earf
>Empyrion - Galactic Survival
>Factorio
>From the Depths

>KOHCTPYKTOP: Engineer of the People
>Machinecraft
>REM
>Robocraft
>Robot Arena 2
>Scrap Mechanic
>SHENZEN I/O

Games that are definitely not /egg/:
>Minecraft
>The general that quite literally cannot be named. The Mexican scam artist one. With the shitposters. Fuck off.
>Hearthstone, found in the hearthstone general, /hsg/, not in this general.

Information about these games, such as where to get them if they're not on steam, trailers, /egg/ conquered/hosted servers, and other shit can be found in this pad:

Robocraps having another robot building competition, but this time its for things that use the new propellers. Submit your "aesthetics" shit, because looks are basically all that matters.

Lead dev Mark "I HATE DOGFIGHTING" Simmons is also mad that players are using the new propellers to make unstoppable drones and shit stomp opposing teams. He said they will give props a spinup time so they wont provide instant direction changes like they do now, but theres no coding in the game to implement it yet, so its probably a few weeks/months away. Its only an alpha afterall. :^)

We written remcast now, apparently.

No, tanks were not in the original design. Prebuilt ships in a sphere arena with nothing in it was the "original design." As we git gud at game dev, we increase our scope exponentially. Not increasing the scope of ambition, like say, scam shitizen, but rather the detail of whats already here. Originally, we weren't even sure if armor mechanics could be implemented with any degree of accuracy, but here we are with a fully custom building system with panels having adjustable width that incorporate flawlessly into the structure system. You can build a ship entirely out of panels, btw.

Soon, we'll have a fully dynamic-ish resource system and heat simulation. Soon after, multiplayer.

Once that's in, then the ground stuff. Appreciably, it'll be most similar to world of tanks with custom tanks, but the rewards and progression will be much closer to early robocuck.

Really, we can add anything with a little time, provided we're interesting in it. Aircraft, anyone?

That seems pretty straight to me.

I have a problem myself.
I built a sub that uses the constraints on it's upward facing missile controllers to shoot a load of missiles at point blank at the things directly above it. It makes huge fun explosions. The problem is it doesn't always fire when something is above it.

My first thought was that it wanted to shoot a block on the enemy it was targeting that was not above it. So I removed the connection to the main AI with its target cards and snapped a single AI block on each side. This made an improvement, and it seems to fire more often, but still doesn't fire 100% of the time when below an enemy.

I just can't think of a way to make it surely fire when an enemy is above it.
>>
>>165814853
You might try an ACB set to fire weapons when enemies are within a certain distance
I'm not very sure, but is there also an ACB setting that can be triggered when something is in front of the ACB block itself? Make it face upward and it might trigger when an enemy is overhead
>>
REMdevs, I was watching the Remcast and as the ships battled in the background, it felt like there wasn't much feedback to tell the amount of damage your shot did to the enemy ship.
What if blown-away parts glowed hot red for a bit when shot off, before fading to normal colors? Might make it satisfying af to blow out a chunk of someone's ship.
>>
>>165791178

Sent.
>>
>>165814853
It looks straight but watch the bearing readout it does almost a full 90 degree turn.

The targeting in ftd is dark sorcery there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason the AI just picks a spot it wants to shoot and ignores all the massive turrets firing back

>What if blown-away parts glowed hot red for a bit when shot off, before fading to normal colors? Might make it satisfying af to blow out a chunk of someone's ship.

soon
Well, the easy fix right now is numbers add the amount of damage done to modules and popcorn them off like so.

The actual fix is, yes, making the thrusters being broken off look actually broken and sparkey and add smoke effects on the parts sailing off with some fuel dripping and all that. But fuck you, numbers for now.

Also, we've added a 'boost' button, which functions similarly to the armored core games, where you have a 'flux tank' that is constantly being filled. 'Boosting' takes a chunk of that, and requires a minimum amount. Use too much at once and you have to wait for it to recharge. GUI notification and bar soon.

MWO's devs litterally sent them a cease and desist, because nobody was fucking playing the shitty new jew garbage that was MWO when MWLL existed just fine. The MWLL guys had permission from the owners of Mechwarrior and Battletech, but they couldn't support themselves in court. I'm still mad.

Armored core past FA is trash anyway, no point in hoping. Mw5 is litterally the only hope left, and they're going to fuck it up.

When I heard they were adding planets I got excited, because I had always wanted something bigger to work with than asteroids. The addition of atmospheric and natural gravity play was going to be grand.

I went straight to designing a smallship dropship meant to land on the surface with a crew. The idea being a simple raiding vessel. No frills, not much armor.

You can't really make proper factorio like factories in minecraft the same way you can't in real life. There's no way to have a consistent stream of resources, even if you use that strip mining automation nonsense. The monsters are even less of a threat than they are in Factorio and can be marginalized with small fence and some light sources. There's no challenge, no consistency and it manages to chug the framerate somehow when things get busy.

also, nothing to appreciably work towards like in factorio but that's more about gameplay.

Because unless you use something like an IE excavator, you're not going to have the constant input of resources necessary to emulate factorio, as well as the

I did read it, you're just wrong. The big strip miners kinda do provide constant streams of resources if you use more than one and there are other methods of automated mining.

How can you complain about a lack of challenge and also complain that you want resource gathering to be less challenging?

Bruv, is it possible to procedurally generate ship models from basic geometric objects? Games like Spore randomly generate ships from preset models that are tweaked a little bit and mashed together, but when you play long enough, it'll be samey.
Is it possible to code a ship generator that creates ship based on its intended role, function and availability of components? For instance, coating critical areas in armor, placing engines and power plants - basically doing everything player does (or tries to do) when building ships in Spengies, - and then generating the ship's model that reflects all that.

If you had a console-based OS, you typed in the path to folder with the .exe and launched it. Nothing complicated, unless you forgot where you put the file and how it's called.
Windows 95 was much easier to use, it's not that different from newest Windooz OS. Same bugs, less spying. Just find a folder and launch the .exe

Many used Linux distros like Slackware, but those got killed off by Autismo Supreme, Gentoo, there was no wine and games like Unreal and UT pushed people off to Windows.
Unix was there too, used by serius bizness guys.

Well, anything is possible. Not in our scope though. If we had infinite time and money, we could, but since we have very little of either, none in some cases, there are things we'll need to shelve until we get some dollars and time.

It would indeed interesting and possibly quite lucrative to build the world's first evolutionary ship building algorithm that would test a vessel's aptitude to follow direction and survive damage against a base model test.

Issue being any amount of function in a vessel in REM would require thousands and thousands of instances, even with rules such as "thrusters in every direction, bound to a set control scheme" and "cover shit with armor panels," and "put guns on."

Any amount of function in a ship with lesser requirements, such as those in spengos would still be in question. Certainly easier, but the usefulness of a blob is questionable. We also have no interest in modding spengiggles, or touching it with a 50m barge pole. We made that mistake in the first years of its release.

A pseudo evolutionary opponent would work, and be something we can technically do right the fuck now, where a design is submitted to the global server, which is sent to all players. Kill the king of the ring, your design is then submitted to be the next king. More matches you win against all players globally, better your score. The final design is taken from the server and a "default" I build it one is then submitted, with some elements taken from the king it was based on.

It would litterally be the perfect evolutionary game, where its a mix between random and designed changes and choices. Granted, it would be an AI facing players, which gives it a massive disadvantage. A design that a player can use competently could be a design that is totally useless in the hands of the AI, and vice versa. Perhaps only AI can pilot your submission, to avoid this issue.

For a game of that scope I'd say (up to) 30$ a month. Curse is a big ass cancer network that runs the Mineman forums, along with Forge and FTB. They depreciated the old modding forum and instead switched everyone over to a shitty curse website. There's really shady shit going on with curse, and I think one of the issues was that uploading on curseforge would basically mean curse owned the mod. Basically they suckle off microjews teet and got a monopoly over the community.

Forge is the main nodding API, lexmanos is a major guy behind the API, and he's a total fucking sperg. Theres too much drama to really go over.

Every server owner is a Jew. If you go on any server you'll see shit like vote for diamonds and other nonsense, bribing players to increase SEO rankings.

The game is really limited in vanilla, bunch of quarter assed half baked features. Good mods mitigate that but a bunch of kiddies fall for kitchen sink packs that are just schizophrenic collections of mods with no thought put into the experience. FTB likes to shit those out.

Go ahead and play a game from this time period you just mentioned. Play through the whole damn thing.

Notice anything?

for this to work, lets pretend it only took you a few hours, and it wasn't some jrpg 100 hour bullshit

You can complete that shit 100% in a very short period. The mechanics are simple, the content is skimpy and the polygons are large. Nothing wrong with any of that, and frequently the small amount of content means they only have good shit, but its a fraction of how big games are today.

You can litterally program and make the art for Super Mario 64 in about two months today, starting with nothing, for example. Even less if you use a pre-made engine such as unity or unreal. Creation of games in the past could very well be done in someone's basement for very little cost or effort.

Effort and polish required combined with sheer amounts of modern content really make that shit hard to pull off in the same way. Worth noting everything costs more, even adjusting for inflation.

Yes and no, depending. On one hand, old game comercials were amazingly awesome and sold shit. Unfortunately they had nothing to do with the actual game, usually.

Today, videogames are a lot more socially accepted and you need less awesome commercials. On the flip side, everything is more expensive, so it balances out. Its true there is MORE marketing going on, just not out of any one particular game. There's simply more shit to market these days.
>>

Not an argument. The guy who made something like exile on bbc micro has more talent in his little finger than you'll ever have.

>>
>>165845148
For something like indie games, I understand needing good marketing, they don't have any kind of presence on the market.
But bigger games just feel more marketing than game these days.
And they don't need that, they have brand presence, they have fans, they have people who know their names.

That is of course, ignoring the fact that most people in marketing are abysmally stupid, and could be replaced with people with actual experience in psyops and shilling.

Sweet my man, but that changes litterally nothing. Instantly dismissing the previously stated fact and pretending modern games don't have far and away more, higher 'quality' note, I don't mean better, I mean higher fidelity. Resolution, mainly. Find me a 4k texture pre-2006 and I'll give you a fucking medal. and more intuitive assets and content means you are actively deluding yourself.

>ESRB Notice: game experience may change during online play

Compared to its contemporaries, UT2004 had impressive graphics.
Today, it's still passable - even if it lacks bloom, depth of field, motion blur and lens flares.

>You can litterally program and make the art for Super Mario 64 in about two months today
I've never played the series myself, but do you realistically think a modern installment of the series would be significantly more expensive to produce?

>Creation of games in the past could very well be done in someone's basement for very little cost or effort.

Selling things, any things when you're new to the market is the challenge.
It's the initial hurdle that you have to get over.

Once you've got an established consumer base, you move towards casualization and mass appeal, without alienating your original base.
At this point marketing is still necessary.

But if you get AAA or close to it, even the size of ckprojectred, marketing is almost unnecessary due to the amount of people willing to do it for free.
Look at all the people defending the switch, the ps4 pro, the lack of transparency in most of the console market, nvidia's jewery, amd's retardation, etc.
They literally market themselves.
But AAA devs still have fuckhuge marketing teams, and even bigger and bigger budgets for them.

I think that part of the problem is that they're vestiges of when marketing was necessary, and the companies don't understand information control in the internet age as well as they think they do.
Also I doubt they're willing to just throw 80% of their marketing teams out the metaphorical airlock.
>>
>>165845902
>>content is skimpy
I did mean actual assets, sorry. Content is too overused to mean fucking anything at this point.

>>polygons are large
More of a throwaway statement, yes I understand hardware is now a gorillion times better, but that also means it was easier to craft assets in the past. Lensflare, DoF and anything else are effects on top of assets.

>Open up the Steam store, then search for indie games. You'd find approximately 8000 entries, some of which are undoubtedly made in someone's basement.
Browsing through said games, I do at times wonder if any effort was put into them.

This supports the point. There were games like this in the past, action 52 is the golden example but they were still more difficult to make than many decent quality games of today due to advancements in hardware and software development.

>>165846065

I think everything was so well-optimised because of market being flooded with ex-USSR programmers.
Until maybe 1996, soviet/russian computers were so far behind the West that programmers had to spend much more time optimizing than writing original code. And sometimes you had to file an application and jump through bureaucratic hoops to have your code compiled at all.

So when Iron Curtain fell, these guys were sought after by IT companies, some started their own, like Google.
>>
>>165845652
He hasn't.
Marketing budget is so hilarously inflated because it's the way big business works, and that's what games are now - a big fucking business that has fat cat investors who don't know what games are and don't care.

And the companies appeal to the crowd that never played games before. That's why we have "gamers" whose career started with candy crush, angry burds, CoD4+, Minecraft - you name it. These people always thought of games as "nerd hobby", but now games where no thought, skill or dedication are needed are leading the market and these "players" are voting with their wallets.

And maybe I'm a tinfoil, but I smell a huge embezzling scheme within marketing budgets.

Nah, PVP being optional or mandatory aren't what has been killing MMOs, it's a mix of not having anything interesting to offer once you get past the wow factor of a ton of players, too much/too little grind, pyrrhic "Free to play" options that bog the game down, and the few who survive all of that get so obsessed with the meta that it loses any semblance of immersion it has left and becomes any other game you can use numbers to win like Monopoly.

Spengies is frustrating enough. If it actually worked people might warm up to more shit to deal with.

I disagree. When they made pvp optional they made interaction optional and if you don't want to interact with anyone why the fuck are you playing an mmo.

>I've watched more people just quit because there were those that would just camp wherever they'd respawn as a newbie for days and were at the mercy of higher levelled/skilled players to come in and clear them out.

Darwinism. Players who weren't retarded would stop spawning in the same place, team up and get better at fighting. If you're talking about UO every player had the exact same maximum health so the gap between the weak and strong was much narrower than in most games. A new guy with a throwaway poisoned dagger had a real chance against someone with the best gear and character possible. A slim one, but a chance.

surprisingly it hasn't clogged itself up a single time
i'm creating more belt transports and inserters than necessary, and the occassional iron plate or copper cable makes its way to the end of the line, but besides that it uses up everything, not a single circuit board nor gear has made its way to the end since the massive issues in the start
i was thinking of placing a new belt with a bunch of filters up top to re-use the resources that go through unused, send them through another processing area, maybe for a material i need less of, i can merge it with the excess copper plates that come from up top too
i figure belt transports and inserters are always useful so i thought it wasn't so much harm to produce more than necessary, i can just use them later anyway since they get made into crucial things, or i can create more research factories and be fine. currently just stockpiling them and using them as they come
definitely not the most efficient way to do things though since for example the circuit boards are created inside the same loop they are used in, rather than being fed into it from another loop

is there any particular reason my boilers don't get filled to the brim automatically? or does it only use as much coal as is necessary, meaning i can stop worrying about it?

One could argue the downfall was when they gave little to no incentive to group up, like FFXI was mandatory to adventure in groups or you fucking died to anything that wasn't 20 levels under you, and how the trend eventually leaned towards better rewards for doing it alone such as Age of Conan. And forced PVP is generally only "kill anyone not on friend's list on sight" than actual interaction, it's also why most Rust-likes these days are pretty garbage.

Hard to spawn elsewhere when most of the older MMOs had limitations on where you were allowed to respawn and many punished you harder for respawning anywhere that wasn't where you dropped dead. Yes, in UO, a newbie had a chance, but most mixed in levelling systems that were such that if someone was more than 5 levels higher than you it was like a kitten trying to fight a grain thresher. You may be thinking only of sandbox MMOs like SWG, EVE Online, and UO, but many were Themepark MMOs where you were guided along a relatively straight path with a few forks.

And frustrating enough? What's frustrating about constantly being hunted down by things that will slap your shit and what doesn't work about them?

I'm saying I want it more like war thunder, although I obscured that by saying I don't want it like world of tanks.
I like the system as it is now, World of Tanks has an HP bar for the entire tank, so even if you hit armor and don't damage anything it does damage.
The current system and planned system sounds more like War Thunder, where individual modules and parts (and crew) have damage done to them but if you over pen you can just shoot a hole through the tank without damaging it.

For geodesic type structures it is often required that triangles have different angles.

For a geodesic dome, if we have more than 12 vertices, we must have triangles with different angles because platonic solids only go up to 12 vertices. Pic related, each different color corresponds to a different strut length

Oh yeah, and not to mention the structure is curved, so even triangles with the same shape will appear to have different lengths.
>>
>>165897516
Yeah, that's completely correct, but the contributing factor here isn't a design flaw, it's crippling autism on the part of the guy what made it.

>>165897516

After your first game, look online for things to learn from to improve your setup.

Also, why are you building on top of ore?
Generally you only want to have mining drills built on them, that's not to say you can't, but it's a lot of ore to waste when you could simply build around it instead.

Skimping on support people is fucking infuriating. I did a single printer replacement job for a certain company. Simple fucking in and out job.
Go to local Walmart, replace all the old dot matrix printers with newer laser printers, profit.

When you do these kinds of jobs it's normally someone hires a contract company, that hires a contract company, that hires small local companies like mine that do that job. One of those companies is responsible for making sure everyone is doing the right work, so techs have to call in when they start a job and when they finish like a time clock.

The fucking main contract company that took a job to replace ALL of the dot matrix printers in every Walmart in the US has a single woman working the phone for the entire job. When you call to sign in, to sign out, or with a question about the work you are put in a conference call with her and about 50 other people doing the same thing and told to wait until your phone number is called out. It took me about 40 minutes to install all the printers and set them up in Walmart's printer system, most of that time was finding the damn printers sitting in the huge piles of shipping mess in the back, then it took me 4 hours to sign out because that single woman was having problems. When a tech would call in with a technical question, she would just ask the other techs on the line to answer it.
Then they tried to not pay me for the four hours I had to stand in Walmart and wait for their asses to clock me out.

I don't do business with that company anymore. I don't care if it takes a bite out of my better paying work.

That fucking sucks. I have a 'warranty' from Sears on my 70 year old gas heater. They fucking hate me, but they don't drop me. I pay $150 a year for it, but parts for that old thing are so expensive that in the last 15 years I'm still making a profit. The valve body that I got replaced last year cost them $900, plus the cost of having their guy come install it. Every time something breaks on that heater they beg me to let them buy me a new one for free.

Tough shit, I love my old heater. Why the fuck would I have buy insurance I didn't expect to profit from? That would be stupid. Of course, there is mandatory auto insurance, but yeah, can't get out of that.
>>

would a slightly dumbed down version of that be fun to fuck with in a building game, such as REM or FtD?
I wouldn't really know, I haven't played REM and haven't played FtD yet due to feeling intimidated by it's complexity and un-intuitive controls (most likely will actually get into that at some point, but haven't yet).

What I really mean is, When playing with reactors in Factorio, it fits in and is fun, but I don't have the experience to say whether it would fit in with other games.

I do like reactors as a concept though, that being that it has low-ish resource consumption while fairly high energy output making it an ideal energy source, but is heavily gated off due to it's own complexity to both build and automate often alongside the initial resource requirement to get the infrastructure built too, I guess.

The ignition is all new and doesn't match with the original. It's got a new valve body that's just about the same. The thermostat and a few other things were replaced in the late 80's before I lived here. Most of the wiring has been replaced at one point or another, some of it by me, as the coating on original wires went bad.

I've been told to replace it several times, but my gas bill is lower then anyone else I know, so I'd feel pretty hesitant to replace it with something new that I don't know inside out like I know my current heater.

Huh, I guess I don't actually have access to everything from this mod yet.
I'm also playing with Bob's mod for the first time, so I guess it'll be a while before I unlock the items for a real setup.

So far I've used the reactor core to heat pressurized water to around 350 degrees, created a loop that leads back into the reactor with a pump so the water is always flowing, then used heat exchangers to heat a separate water supply that leads into regular steam engines.

I felt like I might have been overthinking a bit.

I'm sorry I cut off the ignition module in the picture, I don't wanna go back downstairs and take another image. Other then that and the fact that the burner and the fan are hidden by that bottom plate, that is the entire furnace.

Also, I'm sorry, I said it was 70 years old. It's not quite that old. It was put in sometime in the 60s and plumbed into the old coal furnace that was put in before they built the house in '44.

So how does the personal roboport work in factorio?

>>
>>165964757
A personal roboport works just like a regular roboport - except that it is attached to your person.
Just like a regular roboport, the bots (logistics or construction, depending on your needs) must be available.
That means you must carry bots in your own inventory, or rely on linked roboports to supply.

Just checked out gulagtic junk meme.

There's 4 statistics to sperg over, damage, health, speed, and energy (I think it's pretty obvious what they do).

The damage is block based like robocuck, not sure if damage transfers through blocks.

You have an immobile core that needs to be protected at all costed or else you're fucked.

You don't need to buy individual blocks, however they eat up a CPU meter.

There's a shop where you can buy premade meme ships and add-ons, but they're all cosmetic. Also it's retarded how expensive the premium currency is, were talking 22 dollars for 800 credits.

The theory is that angling doesn't work because even sloped blocks have a square hitbox.

I'm skeptical because I angle the shit out of everything and it's pretty common for shots to ricochet off. If the angled blocks really did have square htboxes that shouldn't be possible.

Maybe I'm just seeing things? I dunno

You are seeing things. Normal ricocheting, assuming that all blocks are just square does work though. So you can just slope armor with spinners, because Nick is too retarded to change the collision mesh. He's too retarded to make a good game, in fact.

It's a little annoying that the shot predictor only goes to about 5km it's pretty accurate at double that range

He needs somebody who can actually do some software engineering and engine stuff.

The game's so obviously suffering from bad tools (like the Unity 4 default UI "toolkit") and architecture (similar things obviously not sharing code) it's not even funny anymore.
>>
>>165999094
How much exactly do you know about ftd, and development in general? Because what you said is like saying nuclear reactors need special systems to prevent them from exploding like hundred kiloton nuclear bombs.

He does need someone to help him with integration, and nexis was that man for a while. Funds ran out, so he canned him and continued to tweak existing systems.

The UI is trash for a lot of reasons, but they're mostly related to design methodology over the back end tools. Its also running on Unity 5.

http://www.fromthedepthsgame.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=26275

In any case, it seems he's trying to unify multiplayer now.

Granted, ftd is currently a broken buggy mess that needs to be put down. I'd actually suggest he just fucking start over at this point and it seems he's inclined to agree.
>>
>>165999843
>Its also running on Unity 5.
Nick gave up on Unity 5 a good while ago because his GameObject hacks didn't port to it very well or something. You can look at the current Steam release's output log to see it is running Unity 4.7.2f1.

The GUI sure acts like it was using the "IMGUI" system that was the default in older Unity versions. Unity 4.6 added a better system but either he's using it very, very wrong or is not using it at all.

Said legacy GUI system is complete trash that doesn't scale far past drawing "new game", "load game" and "quit" buttons in fixed locations. No resolution independent pixel abstraction, no scalable layouts; even handling things like focus and input events properly needs manual labor or building your own architecture on top because the there's no real concept of a layout tree in it. You've probably noticed that the UI seems to have a very vague concept of what has focus, and clicks sometimes hit every element under the cursor and not the topmost one. This is a problem that would not exist with better tools and architecture.
>>

So is spengiggles, in the same way. It runs like shit, plays like shit and the multiplayer doesn't work properly. It just has the advantage of not needing quite so much overhead in terms of damage and custom engine voxel nonsense.

>>166001475

My man go load in a battleship and make it shoot a copy of itself, come back and say it doesn't run like shit. which is to say over 30 fps, which is is still bad but at least playable.

Do it without lying, and you have the world's best computer and hacked the game into being at least a little optimised.

Considering I doubt the game is threaded, that 4690K, if it's OC'd, is pretty much the best you can get. Broadwell had no IPC improvements, Skylake only around 5%, Kaby Lake a big fat 0%.

Coffee Lake, Cannon Lake, and Tiger Lake, and Ice Lake have no scheduled improvements beyond power usage, IGPU, and some fixed function shit like media decodes, from the roadmaps.

Hopefully AMD saves us.

Those gameobject hacks (actually the serialization framework) were a roaring pain in the ass to make and took months of work. I'm not surprised he's having trouble with them.

I was curious if they fixed the horrid flight mechanics, as I had assumed they were just like that for the alpha. Only thing I noticed different was that there was marginally less bugs and it performed worse. Also a massively overpriced cash shop and even more shitty UI design.

Ship building is ass too, given the massive size of blocks. I did some light tinkering, but holy wow is it clunky.

All of this could have been forgiven if they had simply not fucked the physics and made building worth a damn.

This happens in every voxel game, so I'm not surprised. Would have been at least a little difficult with actual flight mechanics, rather than the "THRUSTERS MAKE MOVE NOW", which just flatly improves your "mobility" stat.

First attempt at making torpedoes/guided missles.

I haven't even thought about the actual scripting yet, but does this seem sensible for the interior? I'm aware ore clusterfucks are powerful, but they're also annoying to set up.

Obviously, there'll be an armoured shell around this, the two light armor blocks in the front won't be needed then.

Just like early Robocraft, this game was fun until people started to learn that guns have more health than armor blocks so there's no reason to not make gunbeds.

Upside is there isn't really any way to make the game P2W because unlike early Robocraft you don't have to buy blocks individually, once researched you have an unlimited stock of them. The class system is pretty neat. Like if you pick a battleship all your blocks have extra health and more mass, and your weapons do more damage but fire slower. While frigates have less mass and health which means they'll go faster.

But it's fucking rough and just like Robocraft I don't think there's a way to balance shit without drastically changing how the game plays. If you're fucking bored or really want to relive the early gunbed days of Robocraft try it.
