If it is かっこよさ, then the only use it has is for a passive (white) skill you can buy for male original characters. That skill gives an attack and defense boost if coolness >=5, and it decreases attack and defense otherwise.

Maybe it was with that skill in mind that the person who made the interface patch translated it as Ego.

To lift Mouri Motonari's curse:
You're following this, right?

Defeat the Takuga House and recruit Sakamoto Ryouma.
Search for the dungeon in Izumo (requires Kouhime and Sill), this may be done before step 1.
Select the event 'Ask Ryouma about Motonari' (this appears in any province where you can talk to her normally).
Go through the dungeon in Izumo until you fight an enemy called Daidaara (だいだーら) on the 7th floor, after which you'll have an event (you can leave the dungeon after that if you wish).
When it's Mouri's turn, Mouri Motonari's curse will be lifted and he will fight like a regular unit (which is actually bad news for you in army battles, unless you killed him so much that his HP has become very high). Note: If you have not seen the event where his curse is lifted, then his curse hasn't been lifted - you can defeat the Mouri House with Daidaara dead, but Mouri still cursed.

once the difficulty increases warriors become obsolete because they can never breach the thousands strong footmen blobs

problem is, you get so many unique warrior units in the game yet you don't really need more than Rance, Kenshin and maybe Motonari or Masamune to deal exclusively for commander battles.

foot soldiers, on the other hand, have few actually good uniques and most of them can only be gotten at least midway into the game. meanwhile you have to pray for good random foot soldier generics to survive consecutive enemy attacks and shit like the Takeda blitz.

therefore, I wouldn't say that higher difficulty is terribly balanced but the focus definitely shifts far away from warriors and onto foot soldiers and other cheesy commanders like Natori, Omachi or Uruza in order to actually win battles

Ninjas are mostly worthless if they don't have assassinate 2 and good speed

Orime is kinda weird because in commander battles she's fast like a ninja but fights like a warrior, meaning she can't hit the back row and has lots of health. Ultimately you don't really "need" her because you can get a bunch of ninjas that have good stats and Assassinate 2 (Kiku and Kousaka), and Ninjas don't deal a superb amount of damage in general, but she can be useful in commander battles and the occasional fight that includes diviners (which become scarce in demon army routes)

Masamune is an above average warrior unit but that's all to him, and you need to dismiss him to clear his wives anyway

Playing post-game on Rance VI, can't defeat ippatsu or get to Abert on mansion for mission without most of the party dying to the stupid monsters before it. I'm focusing on leveling up Rance, Sill, Patton and Magic since all other are max. Which would be the better place to level Rance up? Rance is level 70 currently leveling on nearby forest with exp bonus items.

My only real issue are the easter island metal heads on the third fight to Abert.

Use any stat boosting items on Rance (except Tomato). Ippatsu is not that hard. I completed all challenges at around your current level and find it quite easy.
For Abert mission, there are only 5 encounters before the main fight, so you can just use your main force for all of them. Just remember to bring healing items and use them before the main fight.
