WoW didn't launch in South America until the launch of Cataclysm. Warmane (or Molten as it was known before it was shut down by blizz) was a WotLK server when WotLK was still live so 90% of the population was Brazillians that couldn't play the game, and once it finally launched for them they're fucking Brazillians and poor as hell so they all stayed anyway.

There is no such thing as a real 100% fluid improvisational combat game or any other for that matter.

Let's be real here. In both cases there are "controlled environments" when u are prepared and planned out. The difference is that in arena if you don't know what to do,or aren't versed in all comps and possible combinations and just a certain few, there will come those comps and people that will fuck you up no questions asked when that happens.
Of course on top of that you need to make the most of what you play. In a mirror you will simply loose to the one that plays better than you,or if you fuck up.
In vanilla on the other hand all the pvp centers around the predator hunting it's easy prey. Which is also from start to finish a controlled scenario from the predators side. How can you not see this?

My biggest gripe with arena pvp is that when you eliminate the environment from a computer game, the result is completely deterministic and the gameplay formulaic. You can write a bot to be a perfect pvp god and that's not a good thing. That also eliminates class flavor and contributes to the homogenization of classes. You can't use unique class flavor abilities to interact with the environment, mobs, etc to win fights. Since arena pvp is all about killing the other guy and not dying yourself, the only way to balance it is to homogenize all classes so that they're all equally good at killing or surviving.

With objective based pvp and varied environments, there's more niches a class could fill. Like the ability to move fast, or the ability to defend an area. You know, the complex interplay of class balance, map balance and objectives that made early TF2 so fun.

All in all, I think areans are to blame for why all classes feel the same in retail wow.

All classes NEED to be the same in a deathmatch game.
Your game is either balanced like Quake, or it's balanced like Team Fortress, there's no in between.

They're different kind of skills, really. Arenas and direct pvp require memorization and reaction time. At its core WoW combat mechanics are a game of cooldown whack a mole.

World PvP requires more strategic skills, the hunter/prey paradigm is not applicable, you get ganked about as many times as you gank others, and starting off at a disadvantage and overcoming the odds is what makes it so satisfying.

And it's not like arena pvp requires amazing twitch skills or something. You don't even need aiming skills, like in an FPS. There's a 1-1.5 second delay between every action for fuck's sake, wow is practically a turn based game.

I'd compare arena pvp to OSU! and world pvp to playing an actual musical instrument. Sure, OSU! is often much difficult than even playing a real instrument, but that's not what matters here.

In both expansions they are mostly grounded to the certain specific spots and activities and mostly to the specific groups aswell,so it's up you to join in or not if you so want to,but it's not a constant 100% uptime thing everywhere which these points of view always make it sound to be.

i've done so many fucking dungeons where the healer will leave in the first pull, the tank doesnt know what the FUCK he is doing, the dps cant dps for shit, people not doing basic shit like los breaking and tanking mobs not facing everyone else. I'm all for people being inexperienced and learning the game, i understand that, but everyone just fucking leaves the moment theres 1 problem or the dungeon isnt being completely fucking speedran. I've been in over 10 dungeon groups and i only ever finished 1 of them.

And the amount of times ive been killed by a level 80 in full icc gear is fucking ridiculous. Like i understand ganking is part of the game, but ho lee fuck the people on this server make stv and plaguelands on nostalrius look like a fucking joke. And they do it in basically every zone.

And basically almost every person ive met on this server has been a complete toxic cunt. Its like this entire server is populated by 10 year olds and third worlders. Honestly, it is without a doubt the worst community i have ever fucking seen in any server in any video game.

I still ganked and got ganked at 70. isle of queldanas and elemental plateau was like ganking burning steppes and the entrance to DM east. you can sit outside auchindoun, tempest keep, etc and gank. there's even still world pvp for world bosses which is my favorite kind of world pvp, but that's hoping that the factions are somewhat balanced or else alliance will never show up. there's of course leveling wpvp, you'll be ganked and gank all the way to 70. biggest thing flying mounts do is you can afk in the sky with them instead of logging. druid's instant cast flying mount is awful though. also there's no BRM equiv in tbc where you absolutely can't even use a mount for a giant dungeon/raid hub. that might be the biggest thing tbc is missing for wpvp.

Player physics in WoW are actually client-side, so the server doesn't have to do any path checking for the player, only for mobs.

You can notice that players never fall underground or through buildings on their own, only if the server moves them (blink/charge).

Gamer-District probably still is overall the best mechanically. However, it's handicapped by outrageous rates, outrageous custom features (transmogs, free teleports between cities, cross-faction mail and trading, you name it) and pay2win. And since it features the final patch content, everything but ICC is obsolete.

Molten's (Warmane) Icecrown server is largely the same deal with the rates/pay2win and allegedly even worse community but it's more popular and has less of those silly custom features. I understand they dropped pay2win options (leaving it at cosmetics) on their Lordaeron server which would make it an actually pretty good 1x server but it has extreme custom tuning, it currently features fucking TOC as final content and activity is a quarter of what the online count shown at website would imply (although ultimately that's a fairly active server regardless).

Then there's Sunwell.pl which is 1x without pay2win or absurd custom tuning like Lordaeron but it's 95%+ Polish and relatively speaking broken.

Besides that, there are other servers like Dalaran but I wouldn't consider them a poison worth considering.

Well, feral is a tank/DPS hybrid spec rather than dedicated DPS spec or dedicated tank spec so it's working as intended.

Balance is something like 90% personal DPS+raid DPS contribution compared to another lock/mage so it's not optimal but that's ONE of the non-healing hybrid specs out of 7 (or 9 if you count warriors as a hybrid class, in which case it's 2 out of 9 because fury is only optimal in second melee group which in turn is only optimal on speedkill setups) that's not a desirable part of min/maxed progression raiding setup.
