Japanese card games don't usually do much in the way of format shit and they can adjust cards directly instead of banlisting, so I'm going to treat it as an if and cross the bridge when I get there.

And if it does turn out to be a when, then I'll keep playing but spend less money. I'm already more or less set to start saving up for the next expansion anyways, and every set will only get easier to save towards unless they introduce new rupee dumps.

i've been thinking about dirtrune, actually, since I see them more than I'd otherwise expect to. And compared to the other slow decks I see on ladder (dragon/shadow mostly, maybe a stray blood player or ptp elf that really should be playing OTK) their pilots seem to know what they're fucking doing when the game ends up doing long

Save me, I got depressed last night after dropping 1000 points and not being able to get a win with anything.

Ended up crafting Nepshadow using all 11k of my dust and 1200 of 2000 gold I was saving for leaders/a new take two and now I feel sad today because I was looking forward to doing a lot of taketwo and I used almost all my resources to gain a low winrate Shadow deck that's worse than the cheaper and more fun aggro shadow

I play PTP Dirt Rune and it is pretty consistent, considering you can draw pretty much your entire deck every game without fault. The deck sucks for climbing though, not because it is bad but because it is slow as balls. Taboos kinda helps it out in that regard considering how easily the card can spiral out of control and the fact he fuels PTP makes the deck a bit faster.

You can only participate on official tournaments if you use cards printed by Wizards.
The cards come from packs that you buy on the store, and people usually trade/sell things they pull but that they don't need/want.

In the last few years Wizards started to include a seal (like a shiny stamp) on the cards to prevent people from printing their own cards and passing them as originals.

I know many players of older formats that pay chinese sellers on ebay to make fake cards that could pass as real.
If Wizards caughts you using them on a tournament you will be banned.

For casual play? You can even use a paper with a drawing if you want as proxy.

I don't know if it's still around, but there's program called Magic Workstation that let you essentially play MtG online with all the cards. The presentation isn't great and nothing is automated, but if you have friends to explain the rules to you can make a deck and play like that.

Not gonna lie, I'd probably quit outright. My biggest turnoff from MtG and HS is that cards just expire, it's also why the only IRL TCG I'll touch is vanguard, because they definitively won't do set rotations and (for the most part) there's no abhorrent powercreep to necessitate such a thing.

Shadowverse doesn't have any justifiable reason for set rotations either, any desire you might have for one is stockholm syndrome from MtG/HS. MtG only invented rotations to force people to buy new cards every 2 years anyway, and that sorta thing won't ever be an issue with an online CCG like Shadowverse.

Vanguard has a fuckton of power creep, the thing is just that they always adjust old decks up when it happens.

Which wouldn't be so bad but a lot of the time their "adjusting up" is actually removing all the cards from the old deck and introducing a new one with the same general playstyle, a higher power level, and enough familiar names to make you forget that you're technically running none of the same cards. It's pretty deceptive.

To be fair, most of their powercreep comes from adding new mechanics, rather than just outright printing better versions of older cards. Like, I still use a card from the first box in my deck and it's a perfectly viable card to use, but my deck is Nubatama which is a meme anyway since they almost never print them.

Point is, there are ways to keep a cardgame interesting and fun without set rotations destroying chunks of your collection, especially in an online CCG where specific problems can be tuned, rather than brazenly tossing an entire set of cards away. I really enjoy this game, and will continue to enjoy it for quite a while, but I can't see myself sticking around too long after they implement set rotations, if they decide to go down that road.

No, anon, for like the 5th time this week, you can get enough shadows for Breath on turn 6 with this list. Just mulligan for cards that cost 3 or less and you'll be fine. Any 2pp follower+Soul Conversion is 2 shadows, Unleasher is 2 shadows on his own, and using Resentment before 2 shadows is an easy shadow gain, as is an early Pact or even a Tempest if you're up against fairies or bats. Also, Urd gives you an extra shadow from whatever she cycles, and on top of that you have Impious to drop on your turn 2 follower or on a 2pp follower on turn 5.

Seriously, you don't need the card to innately say "gain X shadows" to be able to get 6 shadows by turn 6. I do it very often; it's not difficult unless you draw so terribly that you'd lose whether you had 6 shadows or not.

That's just sad. But I'm gonna blame a big part of it on fucking gameai and gamewith rushing out their tier lists, where they declared ramp dragon best without any justification. Gamewith even put it in tier 1 the first few days, the absolute fools.

Pretty soon people will realize that face is still the only functional dragon deck, gameai and gamewith will move it up to T2, while moving ramp down to T3 or even T4. Then Rowen can stop losing so much. Will still be the worst class, but it won't be quite as bad.

I just feel bad for everyone who fell for the ramp meme and spent 50k fucking vials on those stupid theorycrafted netdecks trying to cram in as many legos as possible.

I'm still doing well with her, I think the problem with the Japanese sites is that for some reason they think a Nep deck is just a normal midrange shadow list that runs a fuckton of followers that just has Nep and Mordecai slapped onto the top end of the curve. That sort of deck barely even measures up to being T3, because your Nep will almost never pull what it needs to, and then you lose because of it.

Nep needs to be a control list, not midrange, and hopefully once the tierlist sites figure that out she'll be shown at a higher level than T3.

You just don't play it when you can't afford to lose the shadow, it's really that simple. Most of the time I only play it when I have it on turn 2 or 3 to answer the last follower the enemy played, or after turn 6 when I've either already played Breath or didn't manage to draw it so i could afford the shadow anyway. Generally you can just throw Pact when you need to kill something with 4 defense, so missing out on playing Resentment doesn't hurt you a whole lot.

Are you sure about that? I haven't seen an aggro list running that ever since Rise dropped, since you generally have better, faster, more face-burning options than spending turn 6 dropping 3 do-nothing 2/2s.

It's pretty mediocre if you have to use it before turn 8 but still decent in that it provides guaranteed storm damage to get you in that 12 - 15 HP range where OTK with roach is all but guaranteed. Can also be used in emergencies if they have a huge follower on the board with low HP and you burned all your EVO points.

However, in long match ups that dragout, the 8 mana enhance can save your ass. This is the real benefit of the card.
