The only way you make actual money in this game is by selling turnips on the stalk market. The best way to do this is to obsessively watch the reddit, bell tree and /acg/ posters who time travel to get the best prices. Catching beetles will give you enough money to buy ludicrous amounts of turnips, but it alone will not net you tens of millions of bells in the way that turnip trading will.

It WILL take a couple hours a week to do but not your entire life. It's not a gamble, if you watch those places carefully it's a guarantee.

Oh yeah, and to expand on that, when you're trying to get someone to ping you about something specific like them moving out or building a PWP, try filling your inventory with something like flowers or money bags and emptying your cash on hand so they can't buy anything from you or ask you to buy anything. Increases the odds a good deal that they'll ask about something unrelated to trading. You'll still get pings about nicknames and catchphrases but there really isn't anything that can be done about that.

I haven't been around in a while, is /acg/ really so dead that there isn't even a good price a week anymore? when I was here there would be about four or five prices over 500 every week.

still, beetles are a better and more consistent way to make money on a daily basis (you can make a couple million a night easily, that's about 14mil a week if you keep it up; assuming you actually use your locker space and don't want to literally carpet your entire town in garbage and make multiple trips when you sell turnips and instead fill 1/3 or 2/3 of your locker with turnips, assuming you buy around 100 and sell around 600 your initial investment will be 900k to 1800k and your profits will be 4500k to 9000k) and perfect fruits require far less real time investment per bell and also don't require you to lounge around really shitty communities.

the tl;dr is that unless you do pretty much the cheatiest form of time travel possible and have a friend willing to put up with you making eighty trips to their town and vice versa (whenever someone gets good prices the other tts to sunday morning, and they both buy turnips in the sunday town and sell them in the high price town over and over), beetles are as or more effective per week as turnips and fruit are more effective for real time investment (and can easily supplement other methods), with no risk attached to either.

shit actually my numbers on the locker are wrong (as in too high), because I was thinking of the secret storage which has 9 pages per section. The locker only has 6 so that's 600k to 1200k investment and 3-6m profit. If you use the full locker AND your full inventory and make only one trip to the person's town instead of being obnoxious and hogging a slot (I guess using the new secret storage to store your inventory's worth, and also to completely replace your locker), your initial investment will be 1960k and your profits will be 9800k

still much less than you can make from beetles putting a reasonable amount of time (~2 hours is what I would put in, getting about a million an hour, iirc) in a night, though I guess to be fair, while a sizeable time investment, it's less real time spent than beetle farming. but again, the best bang for your buck in that regard is perfect fruit. if you're willing to take a 50% cut on that you don't even need to watch any community, just go to someone else's town and dump the crop from a large orchard every few days and you can make a few million a week for shaking trees for ten minutes.

I have edits in my town I don't care if people see. Frankly I think its retarded I can make full bush and trees rows. Also the placement system for PWPs is awful. Worst is the fact that you can make a cute lighthouse and can't actually put it on the fucking beach next to the dock. Those are the sorts of edits I make. Anything I can do in game I do.

I also hate the plaza tree. It's a waste of space so I removed it.

I've got circle and double green, feels good. That's not exactly natural though, I soft reset for hours to get a layout that was moderately acceptable, native peaches, green station and hall and circle grass. The worst part of my town now is the position of re-tail, it's not bad but it could be better (every other major building in-town is lined up evenly to the right of my station, re-tail is off to the left past a pond).
