It goes up to 7 if you can time your R2s right. For players this timing is difficult and variable and generally leads to a hole in the combo where AI can roll out, while the AI does it perfectly every time and it's a full 7-hit combo that perfectly tracks. It's why faggots send hunters with rapiers if they actually want a chance at killing you, and irons/flame wands if they just want to burn your gear and piss you off.

simply enough, it gets better if you get better. if you're dying or getting hit a ton on only floor 3, then you need to evaluate how you're playing. I can tell you right now this is not a souls game like a lot of people expect for whatever reason. this game is much more slow and methodical for the most part. spacing and baiting attacks is the winning strategy for most fights, blocks and parries are the second best options, then rolling is the least desirable usually. then later on you get into the more ridiculous aspects with consumables and such. there are no unexpected deaths in this game, no instakill pitfalls or what have you. enemies can one shot you, which is why you do everything in tour power to not get hit, or simply run away and reset the floor until you get something manageable

I have participated in 4 fights so far.

One time i got my shit pushed in and had 600 fight points when it ended. The reward was 12500 Kill Coins/SPL, 1 Death Metal

Other time i got 1100 Fight Points, reward was 42k KC/SPL and 2 DM

Then i got 1900 Fight Points, reward was 43500 KC/SPL and 2 DM

Well recently I've just been hardcore grinding chemo-synth oil, so expeditions every hour, Haratsuka or Katsuma > Uchinobu every hour to hit the secret shop, and then a shitload of Mitsuba, which has about 10 enemies including a hater (usually a hunter so worth about 500), and 7 chests.

So expeditions are generally worth 50k, Haratsuka/Uchinobu runs will usually net about 20k, and Mitsuba in the interim nets about 12k a run if you pick up and sell the BPs along with the money from chests.

I can usually stuff in 6-8 Mitsuba runs between the secret shop and expeditions, so about 150k an hour just doing stuff not even intending to make money.

I may swap over to Lucky Star and see how that does for money making at some point.

When it comes to making gold, nothing tops devraids to the point where setting expeditions is a waste of time. I can make 40k every four minutes (30k + 10k for diamond). Nothing comes close to that. Nothing.

As I said before, nobody's arguing that some other method is making more KC faster than dev raids. Dev raids are broken and need to be removed from the game.

What I was explaining was that you can make enough money through normal means. Even not focusing on making money, like grinding materials for upgrading weapons.

40k per 4 minutes equates to 600k an hour, roughly 4 times what I make while grinding for T5 Oil. I'd have to actually focus on making KC to hope to match that. Heimo-Jiwa might work, but the loading screens to refresh the place are brutal.

I'd probably want to look for a floor 36+ with a good an easily accessible amount of tubers, as Mk-5s actually drop a good amount of KC each while being extremely easy to kill.

There's 24-25 scratch mk-1s there, assuming with lucky star and golden cat they drop 350 each that's about 8.5k a clear, 5-8k more if you kill/goretastic the hater, which is probably worthwhile due to loading screens. I think it resits gunfire and the Knight's set is supposed to compliment it by resisting slash or blunt. The stats didn't seem better than the Phantom set, which resists gunfire and IIRC doesn't have negative resits for slash/blunt and has pretty good fire/poison protection
