and enjoyed the gameplay and crafting but because the grindiness i had
to drop it as uni needed more of my time

Crafting is still grindy, they've reduced a fair bit of the grind otherwise through general qol stuff and alternate levelling methods.

You'll only need the expansion if you a) want to play au ra or b) finished the ARR msq right up to the moment before HW kicks off and want to keep playing.

Basically you select a class to enter in PoTD for 1 of 2 of your save files. You progress with a standalone level. Each floor has a series of chests. The silver chest is used to upgrade your aetherpool armor/weapon.

The silver chests however, are often uncommon and can sometimes not upgrade your gear at all. It can take a few re-runs of multiple floors to upgrade your aetherpool gear.

If you get a message stating that your equipment is not high enough to proceed to the next floors, then you simply need to reset your save slot while keeping your progress so if you had 30/30 and you reset, you'll start off at 30/30 again.

I've got a few questions about this game. Played Warcraft from release to WOTLK at the high end, then casually from Cataclysm to MOP. Looking to get back into an MMO.

Pretty easy to do, it'll make leveling alt jobs a LOT easier and more fun too. Your first time through you'll have dungeons you both need to do to progress the story, too.

It's there, but it's eh. Unbalanced and kinda shit, but they constantly try and improve it. Expect another look at it with the Garo rewards coming from PVP in this upcoming patch.

Rarely, it's mostly talk to x and y and it ends up in a dungeon or trial. After you're done with quests the 1st time you can just spam dungeons to level up your 2nd class. There's also fates (active time events that spawn randomly) and palace of the dead which is a randomized dungeon that gives a lot of exp.
You do need to go through the quest spam at least once on your character though

No, no addon support so far. We had a promise for it on the future but nothing yet. Also the default options bring enough customization

Yes, though only 4, 8 and 24 man. Not 5

May seem slow at first, but this game heavily focuses on boss encounters/mechanics - The quests that do require you to kill x amount don't require that many to begin with. The questing in general gives you a nice variety.

In a way, as a gatherer you need to poke the nodes at least once to gather the items for a 1st time. There's also sightseeing locations that reward you a minion. You'll visit everything anyways as quests throw you everywhere.

Comfy, but a bit too casual when it comes to endgame. Most players don't give a shit about their performance which makes it somewhat irritating if you go with pugs to harder content.

Unless you want to play on low level dungeons with very few skills I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think they get more common either, some runs I've gotten as unlucky as getting 1-2 upgrades from a total of 10 floors per run.
