I'm a newbie shitter that bought the game during the winter sale. I'm not even level 20 yet. Right now it seems like for every 1 game I win in casual I lose 5 more. Will the game get any easier in ranked? I don't care if I nose-dive into copper.

You haven't played much during the sale eh? I'm that guy from the post above you and I can tell you with 100% certainty that there was smurfing going on during the sale. There are some things that are so specific to siege, that you can't expect new players to do even if they're seasoned counter strike veterans, or even have played all R6 games before. Siege is just such a different beast. That if you see a low level player pull certain moves you KNOW this ain't his first rodeo.

But really jokes on the smurfs because at least casual matchmaking where I met some of them doesn't fucking care. I'm around level 90 and I play together with people that are 120 and over but when new players enter the pool you get the low level people thrown into your and the enemy team. So I got to play against a lot of low level shitters even without making a smurf account, and the actual smurfs getting matched against a seasoned player like me just shows that their smurfing had almost no effect.

Mainly for class balance. on Secure everything goes, any means necessary. The game really shines around this mode.

Hostage a bit less so. some classes like fuze really fall off and there's shit happening like people using the hostage as cover trying to bait you into shooting at it (while this would make sense in the real world, in game where there is no fear of death, it's just a cheesy move)

Bomb is the worst of the modes because of how much it favours the attackers. Specially if the objective is on two floors. Reinforcing satisfyingly is almost impossible and easy to fuck up if the randoms reinforce between two bombs.
So nah. Fuck bomb. I hate it slightly less while playing on an organised 5man that's using VOIP but even then I prefer secure and hostage over bomb ANY day.

I love Rook. His ability is passive fire and forget, so I can just put down the armor and focus on other things while still helping out the team. It's very difficult to fuck shit up as a Rook compared to other operators. At worst, you don't put the armor down. That's just mildly annoying.

I really wish Ubi would add an official replay mechanic for any match you play (like the option to save X recent match's uplay, with them cycling out the temporal ones as they get older)

You see, in a team game you can have lots of actions that contribute a big chunk to the overall game result, even if it's not easily quantifiable. Like let's say a Valk that throws fucking great cameras, or someone with MVP barb wire placement, or someone that pulls off the super important bandit trick, or even something as mundane as being generally bad at shooting but great at calling shit out for his team to get the kills

This is why you cannot have a system that ranks people based on their "individual performance". Because individual performance means what in this game? Kills. And you'd be encouraging an out for blood teamskilling environment because everyone wants to rank up faster.

I'd argue a dude that may not be that good at aiming but has toptier callouts that don't get taken into account for score is more deserving of getting a rank up along with his team than McDoucheBag over there that finishes off a wounded Rook when his teammate was about to, just because he wants the points for HIMSELF.

You see what I'm getting at?

No system is flawless. People getting carried by friends is not something you can prevent without taking away from the huge teamwork focus the game has. Siege just has way too many important jobs for a player to do that don't get proportionally rewarded by cold hard score points, or any at all

You can't quantify that into score points because of the game mechanics.

Again we disagree on the personal merit thing. It's very hard to quantify personal merit in a game like this, because if you weigh it too heavily on kills, you're leaving everyone who helped in many other ways that aren't easily measurable by a scoring system dead in the water.

I agree however that ranked needs fixes, specially in the matchmaking department. It's been suggested that you get a solo ranked MMR and a party ranked MMR, dunno how well that would go

How do you guys play this shit over and over, honest question? Like I had fun with it for ~50 hours but now every time I log on, I play one or two games and just feel like I am doing the exact same shit over and over. Seems fun at first, then I just realize this and lose the desire to play.

i disagree. being down a person in overwatch is nearly insurmountable because of ultimates and infinte respawns in a round. being down a person in r6s isn't as bad because 1 round = 1 life. it's much more realistic to get a couple pick offs and even the score in r6s, than win a 5v6 in overwatch.

Thatcher's setup is really easy to do, and also looks great because you get that dank late 90s SAS look.

Hardest part is the gas mask and his seat harness, but even then it's just a little pricey, and you need to swap the lenses out if you ever plan on using it for airsoft, which people offer kits for.

Damn. I REALLY tried to like R6 E-sports but this is just a clusterfuck. you can barely tell what's going on. In games like CS:GO or DotA2 the client goes to great lengths to show you exactly what's going on. I disagree. If I see a Diamond with 0.8 k/d (I did see one in casual yesterday) I know he got carried hard and that his personal skill level is, at best, Gold. But if I see a Diamond with 2.0 k/d, I know he's going to mop the floor with his enemies before the match even begins. It's a 5v5 game, of course the more kills you get the more efficient of a player you are. This new ranking system based solely on w/l is stupid because it lets people who absolutely do not deserve a high rank get easily carried to a high rank.
