Dragon Quest really isn't for every RPG fan. It's allot less serious compared to FF games(closer in seriousness to something like earthbound without the occasional punch to the gut of feelings), it's turn based very similar to the first three FF installments, and particular games can be pretty slow to get into with DQVIII(cursed king) being one example of this tho the upcoming re-release for the 3DS late January seems to be doing a good job at fixing that long beginning some. If you ever want to give the series a second chance i'd suggest try out DQV or DQVIII(when it comes out on the 3DS).

I wouldn't go as far as to say DQ is vaster superior to FF, it has it's pros and cons compared to FF. Their both great franchises for RPG lovers and each one offers it's own things to drag people in. Well DQ would drag people in as much as FF if Squeenix didn't stop cucking DQ fans and chances of DQ games coming out of japan. Don't worry tho, they made up for it by giving other RPG games that people would certainly love...like FFXIII-3. :^)

It's practically an improvement over Lightning's Smite SB that came before in every way. It's just pure damage as opposed to his support BSB, but for being instant and having interrupt on top of that it's good for at least more than a stat stick.

I don't have the energy left to be angry, upset, or even annoyed. I'm just so sick and tired of this blatant lack of professionalism in thier work (what does thier marketing team do all day?) and respect for their loyal audience, many of which have been behind the project eagerly awaiting any news and footage for nine years, going on ten.

They're really, really pushing their luck by saying Gamescom would be their information blowout, especially after missing E3, and looking at their schedule it seems just like 2.0 demo lets plays with streamer nobodies. They shouldn't be able to get away with such bad content, I'd rather they didn't show anything than bland, incomplete environments, and one enemy. When these forums go up we're going to have to start asking for better insight. I don't think 'substantial content and footage, or want until you have something' is an unreasonable thing to ask of a multi-million dollar triple A game studio.

Too much of a downer too early on. I mean, even after their home town, home country's capital, last bastion of the 'free world', their King and their equivalent of the White House gets fucked, they're still out gaming on their phones and cracking jokes about who's a frog now. desu, the game treats the invasion as if it were something else because the game was obviously aiming for something else. Like, an Assasination or Coup would make more sense than the giant monster battle we got in KG.

There's just a lot of the story that's fucked cause of development and what not. Better to just ignore a lot of it imo.

Yea, they were just reusing the Omen trailer or whatever it was called. All the invasion footage we had already been show tied Tabata's hands. So, he probably felt like he had to do something with it and the rest of the game and what wasn't shown he could fuck with. With what they eventually made, the invasion should have been something in the middle of the game, if there was an invasion at all. Right around the time of Altissia, so it would mesh with the tonal change of everything. That'd make the most sense.

I feel like even then some of it could've been integrated better rather than the weird choppiness. Air that Kingsglaive footage as an in-universe thing on the TV at the bar/hotel along with extra radio information, maybe some original footage of the king's body. And include more of the Omen trailer other than just the bit that happens at the end so it's clear that Noct's dream is properly magical as opposed to just some random high-budget nightmare.

You wont have enough heals for once she really gets going when near dead. Unless you have Dualcast on Refia, you wont outheal her.

Faris gets close to death unless she's guarding, and you can't risk a turn where Dark Fina is not Magic Break otherwise she'll just one shot Faris. Gotta watch out for those Dark Kisses and have some kind of confusion immunity to be safe. My first loss was due to confusion on Faris when she needed a full break and reviving her to full just lead to her dying with an unbroken Dark Fina.

I prefer the sci-fi elements more than traditional fantasy. I'm okay with either. Modern like XV - I doubt the director would choose this route after XV.

A neo-agrarian post-apocalyptic dystopian sci-fi fantasy setting would be cool. Think the beginning of Star Wars TFA - lowly farmers surrounded by downed airships, ruins of once great cities like Insomnia, remnants of weapons and magic they can't use.

FF set in that epilogue 500 years after Meteor hit Midgar - like that.
