This is correct. Sort of. Better to say that his death is in another attractor field and has no bearing on the current branching point. That being said, Okabe got extremely lucky that saving her dad didn't have bigger consequences. If you go down the Faris ending path and poke that hornet's nest again, well... The next time it doesn't go so good.

The way the game describes the attractor field theory makes sense in my head, but I feel like a lot of people don't fully understand it's mechanisms or implications.

The way the anime tried to visualize it probably only added to the confusion since it made no sense at all.

Maybe I'll make a rough sketch to try and map out how I, at least, visualize it.

Here's what I think is going on so far:
