Roadhog has a super easy to hit hook that grants him a kill at least every 12 seconds (even shitters have at least 60% accuracy with Hog) and a self heal. D.va can fly in the face of an enemy, kill easy almost every character in 1v1, has a skill that protects her from anything and a good escape, also a second chance if she fucks up badly.
Take Tracer now, you need good reflexes, aim and you risk to get one shotted by almosy everything in this game before even rewinding.

I'm about to hit lvl 25. I've nearly exclusively played with Genji so far. I'm pretty decent with him. I do objectives, get plenty of smart kills, do a lot dps blabla. I like his playstyle and consider myself 'above average' with him. I usually carry games to victory if my team's bad.

Should I keep playing him in ranked? Or are my quickplay skills not going to translate well in comp? Should I just play a tank like everyone else? I'm scared to get stomped hard bc of shitty teammates. Or is he just not viable at all?

Before you could Grenade -> Amp it up healing and outlive a lot of ultimates. The things that make her really strong (ability to heal from a far, rapid fire rate healing, dart) were all kept in place so she's still strong.

You should at bare-bones minimum be good with 1 character from each of the dps/tank/healer roles. Practically speaking though, you should actually be good with 2 characters from each role, so that you can fill whatever dps/tank/healer role is needed on the team even if one of your 2 dps/tank/healer options is taken (for example. you are good with lucio and ana, team needs a another healer and ana is already taken, you still have lucio).

Addendum: and for dps, you should have the two options not be similar in style. If you are good with Genji, your second choice of dps to learn shouldn't be Tracer or Reaper since then you are only able to play flanker/closerange dps. You cant carry with Rein in plat because healers are too shit to keep you alive. Play Hog or Zarya.

Other than that - before you get a feel of how and when to drop down shield try to hold it up as much as possible, to run forward faster you can drop the shield down while jumping forward/backwards and instantly rising it up again.

Try coutnercharging enemy reins, dont just dodge them, because they can pin one of your squishies. If they pin Ana its GG because they will mop up your team while their ana is healing them and you dont have yours.

Save 100HP on your shield so you can bait out the enemy Shatter and rise your shield up last second so they waste it.

Do not stay with your shield up 24/7 while getting to the point because enemies will shred it down before the fight even starts and you will lose the barrier war, then get Memeshattered.

When you charge someone, make sure you know where the ending point of your charge is, and make sure its not too far. Try to almost never break LOS with your Ana. Try not to charge deep into the enemy team because the Ana wont be able to heal you through the enemies, you will die, and your team will lose. You are playing the best defensive tool in the game.

If your team is not staying behind your shield ask them to do so. If you do 3-4 times and they dont listen switch the character, you are bringing little value to your team. Dont sperge out about it though, ask nicely.

General tips off the top of my head. There are certainly more.
