Never right?

It already has like two really nigger rigged sex mods.

As for actual sex mods, give it another year, assuming F4SE works out well enough.

I really don't get why they were so quick to bail. The nature of the game with its crafting and building should make it a cash cow that allows Bethesda to just keep churning out new wallpaper and shit. Think the Sims.

0 regrets nuking the fuck out of them. All of the madness of the Big Mountain group with none of the over the top hilarity or Dala's oh so fuckable voice.

It is fascinating to read about the plans they had for Van Beuren and how they were jury rigged into New Vegas.

Ceasers Legion was a minor slaving band and Hoover Dam was a major settlement in and of itself.

It's funny that after selling the IP to Bethesda and then joining Obsidian they still made an objectively better fallout game, even with the ridiculous time constraints.

I'd like to see Obsidian get another shot.

God damn what a chilling reminder of how shit the stock gameplay is. Just god, that everything. The fatman being little more than a wet fart, drugs powerful enough to keep you intact as 50 new orifices are fucked into you by deathclaws, how ungodly bad the level scaling explodes hitpoints for you and everything else.

the mini gun though, eh, kind of meme tier, but i guess kind of fits the stock gameplay. Just chamber a normal minigun in .308 and let it deal hunting rifle damage is all you need to do to fix it.
>>
>>164738621
>level scaling

This shit kills me. You know what I love about being level 50 and having some really nice modded guns? That it does the exact same fucking damage to some random raider I'm shooting that it did when I was level 10.

The vanilla gameplay is trash.

Things aren't going well
>>
>>164740608
A few things.
1. Fallout was never as popular as TES, much less in staying power
2. Fo4 is just over a year old and the CK hasn't been out for a year yet
3. Bethesda already did pretty much all of the big mods from 3 / NV in the base game, so there's nothing to work on
4. F4SE is still a steaming pile so the people who do want to do shit are probably just sitting on their hands and doing nothing while they wait for it to be less awful
5. Skyrim got a remaster which brought more attention back to it.
6. Fo4, in general, has had mixed reviews. Plus Bethesda seems to have wanted to get away from the game ASAP to work on whatever the fuck their mystery project is.

I've always wondered about the international politics of pre-War Fallout. In the 40s-60s IRL, Europe still had colonies, and this was often reflected on the pulp fiction of the time that Fallout takes its inspiration from. What about places like South Africa and Rhodesia? Do they survive and keep their attitudes into the 2070s?
>>
>>164746059
Well that's why I couldn't find it. Even copy and pasting the title of it, "Chinese Stealth Suit" doesn't return any results. "Chinese" gets a bunch of Chinese Assault Rifle mods, Stealth Suit only gets you one file that's old.

How should I build Ada now that I don't need to her to lug stuff through Rust Devil dungeons?

Make her a true Assaultron like most of her already was? Jack her up as a Sentry bot with missiles and miniguns so she never has to feel powerless? Scrap her down to a Protectatron so she doesn't have to worry about fighting anymore?

Are there any good muscle textures or presets or extended sliders available for CBBE?

I'm sort of annoyed by the fact that every time I try to make a big bulky dame for this game she looks less like weightlifter and more like someone that just eats at McDonald's every day but has a majority of the weight go to their tits, ass, and thighs rather than her gut.

I mean I like big soft women as much as the next guy but I've been trying to roll with something that looks sensible for being on maximum muscle slider (a She-Grognak to go with the axe and outfit) and it's... not happening with what I've found that's available.

Please, if you guys can help I'd love to know if there's any way to get the way-too-subtle muscle sliders that ARE available for CBBE to look more convincing.

Are you going for something realistic or what?

>>164774440
The reason he says that is because FO4 is probably the most distant from the Fallout series as far as gameplay goes. FO1 and 2 being isometric and turn-based RPGs, FO3 and FNV being first-person and shooter RPGs, and then FO4 being an evolution of FO3 and FNV, but at the cost of a lot of the RPG and roleplaying aspects. It'll probably feel the best, but that's subjective.

Just read over the SPECIAL and get an understanding of what you want. You can either go the roleplaying route and try to get stats that make sense for your character, or just play it like a game. Canonically, Nate is a pre-war soldier and Nora is a lawyer, if you want to be lazy about your character's role.

Arguable. Imagine if Normal difficulty is 1.0x damage to you, 1.0x damage to the enemy. Very Hard, iirc, is something like 2.0x damage to you, 0.5x damage to the enemy.

Survival is a little bit different and adds in various mechanics you have to be aware of, like hunger, thirst, and sleep (though the rates at which they accumulate are too fast, imo).

The game overall kind of suffers from bullet sponginess in the later levels, so maybe try Normal or Hard first, then increase it to Very Hard if you want shootouts to last a bit longer. I went with Very Hard/Survival originally in my first playthrough (before Survival got those mechanic additions).
>>
>>164775428
Survival, while having its drawbacks, is rather fun. That being said the higher the difficulty the more likely you are to have legendary spawns

"I liked FONV's ending much better. It had a nice set of slides at the end of the game. They covered everything I was wondering about. I went with Mr. House at the end... and that seemed a worse choice after the slides, but still OK. It led to a law-abiding but somewhat impersonal Vegas. I wish I didn't have to kill the BoS, but I want House to control the future, so I had to do it. It was a great morally ambiguous choice, and the decision made me pause. That's a sign of good design, right there." - Tim Cain

4chan by definition is toxic and honestly when was the last time the general populace of gamers wasnt a vitriolic puddle of shit really?

Honestly its understandable that, in general the gaming community is being deep dicked hard fuck, and that they would be pissed about it, but throwing hissy fits after you already gave them your money doesnt accomplish anything

Now, that aside, you have places like /fog/. I cant speak for reddit shit because I dont visit, but when you have a board that is specifically in place because a large enough number of people wish to contribute or discuss the game you would think it would be fairly lively place yeh?

Instead we have the polar opposite. Thread regularly dies halfway to the post limit, survives long enough to hit the limit but it took 3 fucking days to get there, and in general is nothing but sporadic shill wars and shit flinging that livens up the thread for all of a half hour and then its quiet for another 3. Not only are fuck idiot arguments seemingly a large portion of posts but it also adds nothing of any fucking value

so yeh. Seems pretty fucking toxic to me

Fallout 3 onwards is an FPS to be fair. Good gunplay is important. It gets rid of every reference to you being a parent. Haven't gotten far in my playthrough with it but even though Codsworth brings up Shaun, your options are to play along or say you don't know what he's talking about and he's clearly malfunctioning. You still have to do the main quest to continue, but altering that big of a chunk of the game is a bigger task than swapping out lines of dialogue throughout the entire game.

Fo4 is an Action-rpg with the action, at least the fps elements, getting significantly better and the RPG stuff (at least the levels and shits) getting reworked into a new system that is a sidegrade at worst Yes the plot was awful and yes the voice protag and 4 dialogue options were also awful, but at least the game did far less of the whole "dump exposition on you by having NPCs act like walking encyclopedias "

Making perks do what stats always did gimps character progression. Instead of spending points to be better with your weapons and then choosing an interesting perk that could allow you to eat people for substance you have to always invest in a perk that upgrades one of the weapon skills, leading to characters that are more or less the same in the end.

Stats never did enough before and Skills suffered from individual points mattering very little and some skills even having points matter fuckall unless it hit a milestone.

4's system at least killed points feeling meaningless with some skills and you still got some of the flavor perks. Furthermore shit like Science doesn't make you good at too wide of a set of things, so you can now play a character who can hack but can also not mod a laser rifle to save his life.

Could bethesda have done a lot more with the perk system like adding trees to the weapon skills to split between the ammo types or something else along those lines? Absolutely. Could they have organized the tier lists better and not have perks feel gimpy? Again absolutely, but that's also a problem every RPG ever faces. However I would always take the new system and have less levels feeling like I'm achieving fuckall with my level-up than the old system, where many levels do feel like I didn't achieve shit.
>>
>>164788835

Skill (not stats, got those mixed up) are meant to define your character general characteristics. They make your guns shoot better and your chems last longer.

Perks are meant to further refine your character into the guy you want to play. For instance, if you want to be a sniper take the perk which makes long range headshots in VATs more accurate. If you want to use a shotgun, get the perk which gives shotguns special mechanics. Characters end up being more defined and unique allowing for more replayability.

In Fallout 4 a sniper and a shot-gunner are both going to have very similar builds because the perks which effect those two very different weapons are the same. This leads to less reasons to replay the game. The lack of level cap leave essentially none.

>>164789774
Bethesda has always had a massive problem with connecting different plots together and having the game remember shit the player did.

Hell if they even fixed that shit and just made a game with a shitton of side quests and beefed up the radiant quest system like Todd said they could do in one interview so that it could track fucking everything and made enough variations on shit you could do, I'd play the fucking game even if it didn't have a fucking main quest.

Skills didn't do enough in the last few games either. Bethesda still made progress in making pistols / rifles / automatics different.

Yes bethesda needs to go further with the system, but they've had a half-decent start of it.

Also the lack of level cap is not as big of a pin in the replayability as most problems. Most playthroughs aren't going to get you anywhere near high enough to make your character have all the perks of a character who focused on one thing and willingly stopped at some arbitrary level from further building their character. Soft caps are a thing that people always forget about and it does end up rather close to the hard level caps of the previous games depending on how much you play and how you play.
>>
>>164790202
I feel like the armor is backwards from a game design point though.
Are you supposed to use it while travelling and waste it? Or leave it while looting and become encumbered?
I feel like it should be free until you use "combat mode" our something.
>>
>>164789862
>While it sucks they butchered the lore
There was no butchering and making it into the actual vehicle of destruction it's supposed to be is the best change. Fuck those ugly ass suits in prior iterations, especially 1 and 2 with them being skin tight with chest armor and pauldrons.
>>
>>164788634
The problem is getting the player interested in the start, and railroading. The main plot is 100% shit once you get annoyed by having to tell everyone about your missing baby. And you have to, or else the story can't actually progress. You have to follow a specific series of events to find Kellogg. The game makes you kill him. The game then tries to guilt trip you for doing this. And then as a side note, that whole thing with Kellogg suddenly talking through Nick, and then having that never come up again. I mean there's wasted story potential, and then there's wasted story potential that presents itself as an important cutscene.

Some people can connect to the player character. I've heard of girls getting all maternal instinct-y over seeing "their" baby getting taken. If the game doesn't grab your interest in the first few minutes before exiting the vault and starting the game proper, chances are the main plot is going to be a drag.
>"Ugh I can't access these things until I reach this specific stage in the story."
It's worse if you're starting a new game for whatever reason, as I don't remember any real choices outside of, say, Covenant's quest before you get to the build the teleporter part. Anything else is whether or not you pass a charisma check, and the results don't matter 5 minutes later.

The nature of the main quest (finding a young child you love very much in a hostile wasteland) means that the moment you start going around building settlements and scavenging dinner plates instead of focusing on finding your son you create a gaping disconnect between your character's motivations and his actions that cannot be justified. Which is what Todd referenced in his interview.

I really get the feeling that Beth came away from FO4 thinking they fucked up their storytelling and are desperately looking for an alternative. They aren't satisfied with the plot of skyrim or fo4.

I mean, they shouldn't be either, everything is far to open ended for fo4, I would have really liked a "Whoops lets fix our fuck ups" DLC like Broken steel that pushed what happened after the endgame more.

Skills did plenty well enough and had a noticeable effect on your character unless you just spread them out every level in which case yeah, you would only see marginal improvements. You definitely feel a change after investing ten or so points into a skill.

What is also great about skills is that you can easily factor them into conversation skill checks, so someone skilled in medicine can make comments on someones health or injuries. you couldn't do that as well with perks only because they are too specific.

Skills are meant to be the broad strokes that define your character, perks define the specifics. You loose depth if you remove either aspect.

Ciri isn't a child and she is far from helpless. And Geralt doesn't really know if she is in immediate danger and medieval life is a lot slower than now. You could easily justify not immediately going off to viking land as Geralt just waiting for a boat.

I think the problem is that it means that every type of power armor is exactly the same underneath. One of the big lore differences between the armor are how it uses power. With the frames, they all use the exact same power source.

From a gameplay perspective I love the system though, and of course the armor looks a lot better.

FOOK is shit and tries to do too much at once. YUP for bug fixes, it's even still being updated.

ADAM was picked up and updated within the last year, aMidianBorn's book of steel got a compatibility edition because the original plugins were complete shit, there's a part 3 of New Vegas Bounties, a bunch of older mods are still getting updates, and I can't really rec anything because 90% of my mods are bugfixes and textures.

The Fear and Loathing guide is good if you use it to pick and choose from, and it's been updated at least for the new 4gb patcher that replaced the launcher version.

That just isn't right. The BoS not being cartoonish white knights =\= the BoS is evil now. The BoS in Fo4 is a reasonable hybrid of the west-coast philosophy and east-coast practices, and their portrayal is one of the things that Bethesda did really well this time around. the BoS are the good guys

I think the issue with Bethesda is they ultimately don't know how they want to make their games and its creating a disjointed experience.

They want to create an open world RPG but at the same time give it a heavy handed central narrative. What you get is a story that leaves too little room for the RPG elements and a main story that is overbearing and disconnected from the side quests, which does little but fuck with your character's motivations.

Motivations which have been established for you by Bethesda, once again fucking with the RPG aspect of the game.

I guess their reality as game developers has two competing things:

>Plots people love and actively engage in (More an Elder Scrolls thing but you get me)

>Open world rpg stuff.

Somehow they really are at the point where those two things are at odds with each other.

Clearly they don't have to be but if you've been making games in more or less the same way and its continuously successful you haven't got much negatively informing you that your process and output has severely degenerated.

Its still better in NV than 4 cause you had perks AND skills. Skills would make you better with all guns and represent your general understanding of them as represented by unlocking speech checks and getting overall better damage.

So I use 2pac sliders so I can have a bit of abs and muscles on cbbe body, the issues is those sliders don't apply across outfits so to make an outfit properly fit the body I have to manually do it in outfit studio. But some outfits won't conform to the body, i.e. pretty much all of Niero's outfits.

Is there anyway to apply sliders from a bodytype (CBBE2pac) to the bodyslide files for another outfit/body (Niero's outfits)?

Or another workaround/Better CBBE body with muscles that works?

depending on the shop and your perks you get like randomly 100-200 caps deposited in your workbench.

>>
>>164796262
>Stats and skills can be altered to be more useful.
Sure they can, by doing exactly what Bethesda did.

The big problem with the 1-100 skill range was that it was such a large range that no matter how much you put into it, most points in it only offered meaningless upgrades.

As it stood, they had already put as much +weapon damage and +accuracy as possible into skills, while still having the same has some semblance of balance.(though the games weren't balanced worth a shit anyways)

Just trying to add MOAR into skills would only throw game balance even further off unless they took away from something else, aka perks, to balance it out, and that would just make perks shitty.

The obvious solution is to decrease the range to a lower value so that each point offers more, making each point more worthwhile, while still keeping perks powerful.

This ultimately results in what we got, the 1-100 skill system being reduced to a 1-5 skill system, where each of those 5 points = 20 points from the old system, but all mushed togeather into one point because only every 20 points mattered in the old system.

At that point however, any halfway decent developer could look at a skill system consisting of only 1-5 ranked skills and go "why not just make these perks, thus keeping all the same gameplay effects, but streamlining everything into one coherent system thats easier to use?"

Which is why we have what we have.

There is no difference between the perks we have now, and the skills we used to have, besides a totally superficial other section of the pipboy keeping them in separate categories.

Nothing was chooped off besides a fucking label that meant even less then class selections did in Morrowind and Oblivion.... aka NOT SHIT since you could level every skill anyways. Which is why they got rid of THAT in Skyrim

Given the workshop dlc fuck yes it made you money by trapping gunners and selling their shit.

It would have been much more interesting too if the special vendors had have worked and you had more to play with.

Seriously though, I got a lot of roleplay out of settlements. I just wish the implementation was as powerful in vanilla as it could be with mods, because getting everything I wanted from the mods was a serious headache.

Looking back, isn't it extraordinary that Beth didn't think about auto-cleaning *every* settlement after you'd been in there?

>Looking back, isn't it extraordinary that Beth didn't think about auto-cleaning *every* settlement after you'd been in there?
No, because a lot of shit in settlements exists because of object culling, and removing larger objects could break the game's culling.

smaller clutter shouldn't be removed because many people like a lot of the clutter, and want it there.

It makes far more sense to just let people pick and chose what they want removed(so long as it doesn't harm the game's culling system) then it is to make that decision for them.

the 1-100 range is perfectly adequate given the amount of skill points you got. 1 point invested in a skill might not have made much of a difference but 10 points would. Having a large range also allows for a greater range of skill check difficulties.

And its important to remember that perks are not meant to do what skill are meant to and vice-versa. Skills are your base stats for how well you can generally do xyz (I like to use guns). Perks further refine your character and sometimes add completely new mechanics which effect game-play and roleplaying (I'm a sniper. Also a cannibal!)

Removing skills and making perks points the only currency to upgrade your character means you get a lot of samey and boring builds. There is no difference between people who use shotguns or people who use sniper rifles, they both take the rifleman perk. In addition the player is unlikely to take some of the more interesting and characterful but not as immediately beneficial perks like Cannibal when they have to choose between that and a straight 20% increase to their favorite weapon.

Removing skills and perks is like removing prestige classes from DnD.

>the 1-100 range is perfectly adequate given the amount of skill points you got
Except the massive failure of the system in basically every single game its been in has proven otherwise.

>Having a large range also allows for a greater range of skill check difficulties.
Which does nothing to actually change the gameplay

Having skill checks at 20, 25, 70, 100 or w/e doesn't actually mean anything because all those numbers are 100% arbitrary and artificial.

They could just replace it with skill checks at 25(easy)/50(medium)/75(hard)/100(very hard)

And achieve the exact same gameplay effect.

>And its important to remember that perks are not meant to do what skill are meant to and vice-versa.
Who the flying fuck cares?

this entire point of your argument boils down to literally nothing but
>PERKS WERE ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO MEAN X!, WHICH MEANS NO ONE CAN EVER EVER EVER CHANGE THEM EVER! EVEN IF TECHNOLOGY CHANGES!
Which isn't an actual argument, it's nothing but a blind appeal to traditionalism.

>Removing skills and making perks points the only currency to upgrade your character means you get a lot of samey and boring builds.
Actually, you objectively get LESS samey builds in Fallout 4 then you do in past games because
-The lack of stat dumping
-A connection between Stats and what perks you can take
-a near impossibility to get every perk, as getting to level 320+ is effectively impossible via normal play
-Not being forced to spend perk points

Means you cannot get anywhere near everything maxed in Fallout 4, making your character far more diverse then in Fallout 3 and NV where you were effectively doomed to get maxed, or near maxed, everything, unless you gimped you INT to like 1
>>
>>164798536

I'll give you that shotgunners don't really get much in the way of specific perks in 4, but snipers and shotgunners are still significantly different in builds from one another.

Plus it's still not a fault inherent to the perk system that can only be corrected by going back the the skills and perk system that did the same thing only less efficiently. Just throw more perk choices into the new system and make some perks like the ones that govern the various weapon types be mini perk trees that let you specialize what exact weapon type you want to be best at.
>>
Just started Nuka World a few days ago. I'm at the point where I'm supposed to start taking outposts in the Commonwealth for the raiders. Is there any way to not play against the minutemen in this DLC? I really wouldn't like to ruin the hard work I've put into my farms.

Actually F4 is the only game in the series where it is entirely possible to max out everything due to not having a level cap.

And you and a vocal minority are the only ones who have ever seen the SPECIAL system as a "massive failure". There are cheese builds, no doubt, but its something you can avoid.

The only real valid criticism here is that you get too many skill points which can be fixed by simply reducing the amount of skill points you get per level per int and not going pants on head retarded.

Everything else in your post completely misses what skills and perks accomplish like >>164799296 here. Skills define roughly what broad fields your character is capable in and perks define the specifics. So you have a gun user who is capable at using all guns thanks to his high gun skill but is best at using shotgun thanks to the Shotgun Surgeon perk. You loose this depth with having perks that only effect 5 types of weapons.

In addition having skills allows you to have speech checks that are not CHA related based on your characters knowledge of a certain subject. However since a subject that was once under a unified skill in the previous games is now spread out among a number of different perks (such as guns being split between 4 different perks) choosing which perk effects is relevant to which speech check becomes more difficult (would general knowledge on firearms come from the rifleman or pistoleer perk?) and make it less likely for player to find them.
>>

>Actually F4 is the only game in the series where it is entirely possible to max out everything due to not having a level cap.
Explain my 10 SPECIAL and 100 in everything in Fallout 3 then?

Fallout 4 is actually the HARDEST game to max out everything in becuase moving everything into one currency, giving only you one point of currency per level, and then making the EXP needed to get level gains be exponential as you go up, makes it fundamentally impossible to get anywhere close to max everything in Fallout 4.

>And you and a vocal minority are the only ones who have ever seen the SPECIAL system as a "massive failure"
You have that mistake, which is why every major developer, reviewer, and 99% of consumers, still regard these new kinds of RPGs as RPGs, and even better then many older RPGs.

The vocal minority are the kickstarter crybabies kicking and screaming over the loss of
>MUH PURE CRPG!

>You loose this depth with having perks that only effect 5 types of weapons.
And yet Fallout 4 has perks like ninja, sniper, Nuclear Physicist, mister sandman
, blitz, and others, that only effect one type/kind of weapon

So again, you lost literally nothing.

>In addition having skills allows you to have speech checks that are not CHA related based on your characters knowledge of a certain subject.

Bullshit. You could max all your skills and SPECIAL in 3 if you knew what you were doing and you could get pretty fucking close in NV as well.

Also you have to be 286 to max out everything in Fo4. And there is such a thing as a soft cap that every last motherfucker who bitches about not having a level cap conveniently forgets about.

Also again the speech checks can still be done, you just tie it to the perk ranks. It's not the fault of the perk system that quests don't try this but the people who made the quests.

Also, the collars have been removed before, with keys the raiders could be expected to have or without them (by Elijah I think, although that is a special case)

Just started playing Fallout 4 and maxed out Charisma then got the Intimidation perk. Please give me some advice:

I had Dogmeat with me when I got to Concord, but when I intimidated a few raiders and got them to surrender, the Minutemen told me I still needed to kill them before they would open the door. Ok fine, so now my character is a murderer now, but I feel a little better because putting my weapon away made the raiders turn hostile anyway so I guess resolving things peacefully is impossible.

Escort the survivors back to Sanctuary, and then meet back up with Codsworth, now he can become a companion. Great, except now he 'tolerates' me. Get into dialogue with him and ask him about our relationship, and then he says it could always be better, that I should go back to my old self and that he doesn't approve of some of the decisions I've made.

wtf man. I'm trying to play as a fucking saint and the game has already turned me into a villain. Was it because I shot the raiders even though they surrendered, or was it because I got the raiders to surrender in the first place (Read how there's a chance that my own companions can turn against me if I make an enemy surrender but that doesn't make any fucking sense, why would they turn on me if I try to settle things peacefully). Either way, Codsworth was still in Sanctuary when I took out the raiders, how the fuck would he know what I did there? It's fucking bullshit, should I start over and pump points into combat stats and just go gung ho on the bandits instead?

I mean I heard how roleplaying in this game was worse compared to Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but wtf am I just playing the game wrong?

Daily reminder Gothic had the best leveling system in any RPG ever made and it could be easily adapted into Fallout with some tweaks.

Skills are back:

- You can't become the master of every skill because there is a level cap.
- You get Skill Points as you level up, depending on your Intelligence. When you get enough Skill Points, you can use those to pay for someone to train you at the needed skill.
- Skills go from 1 (completely ineptitude) to 5 (master)
- Every skill level is a significant improvement over the last level and the player should instantly notice where he is at a certain skill level just by playing the game, as opposed to checking the interface to know he has 53 in Medicine as opposed to 52.

Perks are back:

- You earn a Perk every three levels.
- Perks are something that is unique to each character. None of this "spend a point to gain extra damage". They are qualities to your character, not simple numbers.
>>
>>164803426

Oh, and there's more:

- Not every person can train you to the highest level. The better trainers are in obscure locations, or are found in the late game.
- You may only obtain a trainer's service if you complete certain quests in certain ways or in a certain order, that logically influence that trainer's desire to teach you new things.
>>
>>164803607

>Or an option to de-raiderify the raiders, although that would be very hard to pull off.

Institute build "Oh, yeah I guess we could replace some raiders with Synths, Director, but why even bother?"

Then it's a quest where you have to pick the right raiders to replace without arousing suspicion until the crucial time comes to suggest the dissolution of the raider groups into ordinary settlements and your Synth doubles offer support and turn the crowd to your favor.

Suggesting the raiders become normal settlers would just result in them getting shit, found out as synths, and then a further vindication that what they are doing is right because they have apparently grown so powerful even The Institute fears them and is trying to get them to stop.

But that doesn't make sense at a fundimental level as raiders are raiders by choise, since they don't WANT to do the work of normal settlers.

Some people in the group going "hey, lets do these things we became raider SPECIFICALLY TO AVOID DOING!" is only going ot get those people killed.

Its a fundamentally illogical scenario

I want to pick up Fallout 4 again and finally get around to playing through that Survival Mode, and play through Automatron, Far Harbor, and Nuka World.

But with the inclusion of raider things in Nukaworld, I want to play as a raider themed character. But I'm having trouble wrapping my head canon around how I would incorporate that into one of the games endings.

How or why would/could the RR, BoS, or Institute work with the leader of the Commonwealths biggest raider gang?

I'm assuming the MM are out in this playstyle, and the raiders don't have their own ending.

A lot of Youtubers also quit showcasing FO4 because the view count dropped massively and they couldn't keep paying the bills. So that's causing more modders to quit FO4 and go back to Skyrim because they won't get their dick sucked by said youtubers.

I wonder when modders who only do it for fun and the love of modding started to die out? I would say paid mods but I think it predates even that by a long ass time. And the piece of equipment needs to be in their inventory.

Certain characters can't equip certain things, *Codsworth and Curie (Miss Nanny body) obviously can't equip anything, Nick is limited to the two types of trench coats (clean and dirty) with no option for armor (And I think he can wear a dog collar on his wrist, but that may be from a mod and not vanilla), Dogmeat has a few options like scarfs.

*Codsworth can wear a Bowler Hat as long as he hasn't been edited by the Automatron Robot Workshop.

I think I'm gonna go over the design of my plasma caster's placement into the game world so that it makes a bit more sense and have appeal to a broader amount of players.

How about this:

>Small dilapidated building
>Its a Winchester arms gun store
>All of the guns are gone, raiders and other opportunistic people have taken everything they could
>Book case door hides a secret entrance to a top secret facility for developing Plasma Casters and upgrading them
>Tons of high tech laboratories and gun-ranges for testing, tons of plasma weapons to loot
>Plasma Casters, lots of them, and various mods / recipes so you can craft / upgrade them / recipe for making its ammo
>Plasma-men, feral ghouls in lab coats, and sentry bots armed with dual robot arm mounted plasma casters as the enemies
>Deranged psychotic ghoul (non feral) armed with a legendary plasma caster as the final boss. A personal note and terminal entry reveals that he hates the Colt company vigorously
>In this highly decorated office, with a lot of antique guns on display, such as a unique Lever-action rifle, hunting rifle, double-barreled shotgun, and also a special revolver (I didnt even know they made revolvers until googling it a lot).

I thought about making ALL of these weapons legendary but that would kinda be treasure overload. I'm considering making the Lever-actions and revolver legendary, though. Something for each play style. Heck, I might make the shotgun rapid, which is a so-so legendary, and not as OP. Since they'd be in a fancy office, I imagine they should be engraved, clean, and fancy, but ehhhhhhh.

For the Revolver, I'm actually kinda thinking of adding two effects: Deadeye + instigating

I don't use Lever-actions, so what would you guys prefer for it? I'm thinking Rapid + Furious...so it would shoot 25% faster since Winchester is basically guns built for speed, and each shot consecutively hit does more damage

Pretty much no other game besides GameBryo shit with ENB and GTAV uses a significant amount of VRAM.
>>

>>
>>164823657
True, but that doesn't negate the purpose behind having more VRAM. Dedicating/Allowing Fallout or any game (or program) to use more VRAM means it'll take more to stress it and cause hang ups.
>>
>>164823298
>>Its a Winchester arms gun store
Stop.
Just make it a generic gun store. Call it Guns 'n' Ammo or some shit.

>>Book case door hides a secret entrance to a top secret facility for developing Plasma Casters and upgrading them
Again, stop.
It was an industrial welder that the military saw use for and developed further into plasma rifles and pistols with the help of Repconn.

Don't make it some unique snowflake shit when it's not.

>>Tons of high tech laboratories and gun-ranges for testing, tons of plasma weapons to loot
Stop this.
>>
>>164823298
Just make the weapons craftable or place them outside 111.

Nobody wants "Plasma-men" or "winged deathclaws" in their game.
>>
>>164823801
The point is there's few real world examples of VRAM having any effect because most games dont use more VRAM than 2GB and having a card with 4GB VRAM or making slow RAM pretend its VRAM wouldnt increase those game's framerate. Even with the few games where people claim theres an effect there are o benchmarks to prove it.

>Plasma-men

Why not combine them? Plasmen / Plasman rolls off the tongue.

And what about the special Prototype that exploded because the bombs dropped and spooked the scientists, causing them to accidentally overload it and explode it, imbuing the one surviving experimental conduit prong (which had massive prototype dissipation fins not unlike a battle axes), and caused the plasma burst that lead to the birth of the Plasmen.

Or I might just simply put them on the leveled lists and only give them to Super mutant overlords and maybe BoS, but I don't wanna fuck with BoS shit too much.

>>164823995

I thought about giving them to a supervillain (crazy guy in a silly costume) who goes by the name of "Plas-man" and is fucking around somewhere in the Commonwealth, but unfortunately that would be better if he were voiced and I could get Brian T. Delaney or Nora's voice actor to voice the Silver Shroud when fighting him.

I could just make him a lunatic like the Pyro from TF2, wishing to coat the entire Wasteland in his hot sticky plasma. I suppose I could still incorporate him with a legendary variant along with the leveled lists. I'd need to give him a unique outfit, though. I'm kinda imagining something like Lil' Hunter from Nuclear throne.

The crazy supervillain meme in FO4 seems to be played a fucking ton, though.

I'd argue that would make your mod more lore friendly given the propensity of crazy wastelanders doing just that. The Mechanist, the Antagonizer, the Silver Shroud, and the fourth state of matter, the Plasmaster with his army of plasma infused Ghouls, the Plasmen! Radiation isn't the only thing that glows in the wastes.

I'll try something like that then.

I would like making a unique plasma caster that turns defeated enemies into plasmen, but I'm not sure if I could pull that off without scriping. I'd have to ask Niero or Trainwiz on that. Mainly I just wanted to make stronger plasma weapons.

I'd like to give him a fortress somewhere, anywhere but the glowing sea. I think maybe also unique power armor, like X-01 with big glass tanks on the back filled with plasma, with some kind of unique ability and paintjob. Like he was some kind of ex-Enclave dude that was obsessed with plasma and melting people with it.

Might be able to do something with Glowing One code. Not sure if you can make him hunt down feral ghouls specifically or you would just have to put ferals near him, but giving him something that let his resurrect Ghouls with Plasma instead of radiation might be an option, and meshes well with the plasma tanks in the armor you described.

May cut some corners with scripts, or make it that much more complex.

>>164827456
Well I guess he could just release two versions. The full experience with plasma ghouls and the secret plasma weapons research lab, or the "whiny anon" version that puts the weapons right outside Vault 111 with no silly new enemies and new places to explore.

I'll make a "Whiny anon" version. I might even call it "The whiny anon" version. :^)

I don't think I'm gonna do the secret facility anymore, what I have planned will be similar, though. Plas-man's fortress of Plasmitude. Mostly scrap walls, but with a high tech facility that he found and somehow built huge vats of plasma, he throws humans in them to see what will happen. Most of the time they'll turn into goo instantly, but the un-lucky few that survive emerge as glowing ones with plasma related powers.

His Power armor is also filled with Plasma because he's obsessed with it and utterly insane. When you kill him and take off his helmet, all you'll see is a skull. He also bleeds green. Since he's such a massive plasma geek I might also have his power armor run on Plasma cores, implying he found out how to make it a viable fuel source, like it was intentionally supposed to be. I'll probably also give him a unique jetpack that has way more lift to it, but since he's an NPC I know he won't be able to use it. I'm also thinking of giving every piece of his Power armor a unique effect, but I'm not sure what yet.

As for his gun I was actually meaning make it player-friendly, so players could use it on enemies. But I might just keep it ballistic because i could be biting off more than I can chew with that. I think I'd rather make the boss fight some sort of arena filled with his plasminions as he shoots you with a 2-shot plasma caster. Actually, now that I think about it, this sounds a lot more fun than what I originally had planned anyway.

I'm rethinking my plot thread of Sarah killing Colonel Autumn in the Purifier, and actually having him survive, and be the General figure after that. His death was going to fuel the fire for her war with the Brotherhood, but honestly, blowing up Raven Rock and killing people she grew up with is plenty for that motivation. Make Julia only a Captain or something. It feels tacky for EDEN to jump her from Lieutenant to Colonel just because her father is taking over command and won't use his FEV vial. The character is only eighteen and twenty-two in Vegas.

What rank would do you anons think would be fair and give her the authority to call in vertibird strikes, as many soldiers as she needs for a given situation, and have forces occupy settlements?

If I do it this way, she will be promoted offscreen, and perhaps attain the Colonel rank so that she can return West and try to find somewhere to put a foot in the door again without being immedietly stomped by the NCR.

I just kinda want Augustus to stick around, even if only for the rest of Fallout 3. Reporting in to him on the Base Crawler between large quests, while resupplying, sounds comfy as hell. It would also give me a reason to let him cameo in Fallout 4 to recruit Nate, rather than the 'wise old' twenty-eight year old General Julia.

Yeah, that was my thinking too, but the only basis it would have is the Autumn bloodline and her rallying the troops (and calling back those that aren't either deserting or falling back somewhere with surviving chains of command, as rule of cool or not there is no way a Colonel was the leader of the entire Enclave and second only to Eden) and trying to salvage the situation in DC.

Thinking, it actually does make a lot more sense for Autumn senior to live, and give her the orders of 'winning hearts and minds' and sowing seeds of loyalty for their eventual return while he and the surviving senior officers plan their next moves. One of which will be sending her and a tenth of their forces West.

If I bring them into FO4 as cameos and to make a connection to the Enclave, I'll be using presets. This is what Autumn would look like, and this Julia. I can buy the tidied up 'older man' preset as Colonel Autumn approaching his mid-sixties.

If I ever play again as a new character I think I'll join the BoS but destroy the Institute as the Minutemen, and evacuate everyone. Then again I'll miss out on the liberty prime part....hmmm.

I think if an ex-BoS member ever told my SS that there were children on board the Prydwen when it was blown up, my SS would probably get very depressed...a few children isn't much when rebuilding the wasteland, but I can see him likening himself to Kellogg, or worse, when he looks back and sees how many people he's killed for his ideals, and what Nora would think of all the blood he's spilled on her behalf.

I've considered switching, I just haven't decided whether I'd like to try it out or not. I think what set them apart was that Vivid didn't have support for the DLCs and had some weathers I wasn't fond of, specifically snow, I think.

Welp. Some actual in-game pics instead of just talking about this thing all day.

I think that's it for today on this, got the "skeleton" for this thing made, I'll definitely be adding an outer shell to it so it doesn't look like a nifskoped plasma pistol on a Gatling laser receiver. This will be the bare-bones receiver, no prong, semi-auto, etc. as well.

The receiver upgrades will also cosmetically change how the receiver looks, I'm thinking for Turbo, a more traditional box look with some bulbs and the like, and copper tubing, circuit boards, vents, etc covering up the "skeleton" part. And then for Overclocked, I think I'm gonna go with a sleeker design, similar to the Alien Blaster, for the outer shell.

Next webm comin' up: This thing firing plasma balls!

Welp, I'm bored. Got tired of modding FO4 now that the scene is pretty much dead and started working on some Unity stuff. Really hard to find collaborators willing to do textures now, everyone moved back to skyrim.

Fucking FO4 is such garbage I can't even. Maybe it'll get a resurgence once the Sex mods come out.

Anyways, I had an idea to make a mod linking PER to cone of fire. I can attach LCK to Crit chance, but can't think of any special effects for the rest of the SPECIAL. Any ideas?

>>164814953
>>164734817
Well, first off that sounds like it'll bug out every five times due to bethesda's shitty script stack system, but how can you restore limb health, status conditions, etc? If you made it into a double activate effect, I.e. Drop something, and 10 seconds later it pulls you back to the location, that makes sense.

You can record stats at that time and warp accordingly. But otherwise you'd have to continuously be dropping references and that just seems insanely dense, albeit for a cool effect.

>>164841526
If you're gonna go that far, why not just replace the barrels with the plasma barrels so you have a rotating setup?

Its going to be semi-auto.

I can make it rotate, but I chose not to. Actually how a Plasma caster works, its basically a huge semi-auto plasma pistol with a spiky magnetic prong on the end for extra projectile speed and damage. Not sure how that works but its in the lore description of the caster. That's going to be an optional upgrade for this weapon once I get everything else made.

Oh and there's one anon that really really wants a Plasma Caster prong as a melee weapon so I'm gonna make that, too.
>>
>>164842249
from the looks of it you put the projectile node in the right place

the shit one on nexus is too close to the barrel and the plasma shots clip through the prongs and those fags have yet to fix it

>>164842351

Actually that should be an easy fix in nifskope. Look for the projectile node on the mesh and then move it until it looks right on the nif.

I think the prong on theirs was the best part. It looks like a damned rusty box, and I've always disliked that about most Plasma casters, even the NV one. I kinda want to try making something that is a bit more aesthetically pleasing, while still resembling the general shape of the weapon.

I'd use this Plasma caster if it didn't look like a rusted out hunk of junk...shame because the model was pretty good and close to the source, despite the textures.

I think it's a step in the right direction, but a half-assed step at that, what with all PAs using the same frame; fusion cores draining at a silly speed; the abundance of frames across the Commonwealth and established lore breaking inclusions of APA where it ought to not exist in both the base game and DLCs; T-60 not being its originally planned BoS-made T-45 upgrade and how without mods, you're still getting chipped away health wise from pipe weapon small arms fire

This guide says you need Blender / 3ds/ Outfit studio, and of course Nifskope. You don't REALLY need Outfit studio and 3ds Max to make a gun, if you have some extracted meshes, you can make almost any static FO4 mesh work as a gun by copying the branch, pasting, and setting it as a child on a gun part.

3ds Max is useful for cutting things up though, I cut a lot of the excess crap off the plasma pistol and gatling laser before combining them in nifskope. If you look at >>164843035 and >>164842249 and >>164841526 you can tell that the handle isn't actually connected to anything yet. This won't work for actor meshes though. I tried the same process on dogmeat and removed the weights, but it crashed the game every time I tried making doggo rocket launcher. That was more of a joke anyway.

Outfit studio has some uses for making guns, but its mainly weapon part placement / part stretching...which can be done in 3ds / Nifskope but I'm used to OS so I went ahead and did it in there. But you will need to follow this tutorial if you are making your own mesh from scratch and don't know how to implement the model into FO4 through 3ds. I think most people these days use OS for it since its a lot easier than the hurdles you have to jump through for 3ds.

To be honest, making guns is way less fucking hassle than making outfits, since you don't have to fuck around with weight paints. The CK work for guns can be a little annoying...did they REALLY have to have legendary / unique guns require you editing quests...I mean honestly!

Tim Cain's feelings on Fallout 2 are so incredibly applicable to how I feel about FO3/4 that it makes me smile

"I think my biggest disappointment with the game is that each area was made in almost complete isolation from the others. There was no over-arching theme and no attempt to make sure the different areas were cohesive. It felt like a lot of Fallout-y areas, placed adjacently and connected with a storyline. Those areas were individually well-done, but they suffered from the lack of a strong central design."
>>
>>164845515
FO3 felt more cohesive than FO4 to me. FO4 feels like they just filled a hat with random ideas on paper and pulled one out for every individual cell during development.
>>
>>164845018

I imagine the Xbox kids complained about every unique Power armor being T-51. I actually checked the wiki, it seems like they're declaring it canon now.

>10-20-2076
>Meacham's work with Project Cobalt struck gold. His team came up with a custom isotope based on strontium-90 he's calling "Quantum." He believes he can use the isotope to weaponize almost anything in the military's arsenal. He's come up with a few prototypes like the "Nuka-Nuke," and we've even used the Quantum to enhance one of the military's power armor suits."

And according to Bradberton's terminal, that Power armor had been around since a year before the bombs fell. The wiki article seems to contradict itself a little though, but maybe all the X-01 sets in Fo4 are hints that X-01 was made before the war. Meh, I don't know.

>2198: The Enclave begins the first work since the Great War on the development of various new technologies, including power armor variations. None of these are much of an improvement over the original pre-Great War models of power armor, and some actually prove to be worse when used in actual combat.

Maybe the Enclave had access to these power armors before upgrading them and testing them compared to the T-51, and it took them like 100ish years to perfect it. Like, a T-51 was already high tech because it was perfected Power armor by pre-war engineering, but the X-01 frames weren't as good as it unless they upgraded them...so basically the Enclave possibly upgraded all of their X-01 suits until they were better than T-51? This kinda makes the sole survivor Tony Stark since he can make what the Enclave did with crap he found in a convenience store, though....heh.
>>
>>164845321

Its going to be a much large projectile, and it will have a miniature plasma grenade explosion upon contact. It will also fire a bit slower. I'm not gonna make it lobbed though, fug that.

>>164845408

I don't use laser musket much, I should test its sound out. I don't think I've even seen a laser musket anywhere in the past....forever.
>>
>>164845731
military power suit =/= APA

military power suit = T-51 (and now, T-60)

the Enclave were upgrading from T-51b, /that's/ what they weren't getting better than at first
>>
>>164845953

This whole thing kinda reminds of the Death Star's design plans in Star Wars.

They seem to keep contradicting its origins in the movies. Its been in development for god knows how many years, and a lot of it was completed even before Palpatine seized control of the senate...so that implies the Republic was knowingly building the Death Star for themselves...there's no way Sheev could have kept that shit a secret for 30+ years.

Anyway, do they outright say in FO2 that they are using the T-51b as a base for the APA?

Right, I've decided I'm going to do it, there's a mod call The Community Wasteland project which wipes all scripts, NPCs etc and makes blank slate.

What I want to do is make the city of Boston into Stalingrad with two factions (still debating who) fighting over control with sniper ally's, trenches, holdouts and more.

while also having people not part of the war trapped like diamond city which is being besieged and the refuges inside are struggling for food and water.

Its kinda breaking history for me, my mods usually fall under the rug and maybe get 20 comments.

I've never really had a mod get this popular this fast before...I imagine its because I'm throwing scraps to starving peasants as far as FO4 modding goes...and I don't mean that in a bragging way. In a desert of waifus and bodyslide presets finally a gun oasis....or power armor. That's how FO4 nexus feels to me right now.

>>164848465

I know, right? I guess most people aren't jaded as fuck to weird shit in Fallout. I was kinda worried people would think they were silly too though, but mainly because I've had the model so long, it felt like it was old news to me, instead of being a pretty cool creation to everyone that was unaware of its existence.

>Bethesda already did pretty much all of the big mods from 3 / NV in the base game, so there's nothing to work on
1) A good quest mod
2) Classic weapons from fallout 1-2-3 and new vegas
3) Fix the perk system
4) Vehicles for survival
5) Fix the leveling system and weapon damage so that you don't need to customize a gun and fill out all the perks to get a gun that can actually kill things.
>>

that much is clear.

>>164848646
don't see how thats relevant now they are back in contact with the west and lyons is dead.

Just got done with FNV and I hunger for more Is Fallout 4 worth the money? Or should I just pirate it?
>>
>>164848980
Fallout 4 will spoil your hunger for Fallout, trust me. You're better off being hungry than eating hot garbage.

My mods only get comments when they break someone's game.

its literally skyrim with guns

skyrim is way more of an rpg than fallout 4

comparing fallout 4 to skyrim is an insult to skyrim

skyrim was a bad elder scrolls game but a decent game overall

fallout 4 is a shitty fallout game and shitty game overall

He consoled it in

One of my friends somehow broke the gun with all his gun mods, but it worked fine on a clean save he told me. Which was a little troubling. Now I'm not 100% sure if its conflicting with something or what.

He said it might be AWKCR but I don't use that

that's what's I'm trying to do with this new mod, I going to re-organize the gunners into the what the division did with "Last mans battalion"

A heavy armed merc group that wants to turn into it's own form of government and try to fight to retake Boston from insert faction here.

But I don't want to have the Good guys and Bad guys thing going on I want it to be like the Syrian war where everyone is an arsehole but some are more than others.

like I have one idea, the player is given the choice to help the Gunners or the rebels

They can help Rebels take station A from the Gunners but as a result of this those living in Station A are murdered and raped by the rebels who turn it into there own little den ruining it.

Or you can help the gunners take Station B from the rebels and as a result a few are selected and killed but most of those are forced into slavery for the gunner war machine but the station keeps some civilization.

This is good as long as your writing remains logical, which it sounds.

A lot of times when people try to do this it becomes needlessly edgy and shallow for shock value.

But it is genuinely the better way to do an RPG. Don't moralize with your writing. Let the player do that. Just create factions that behave realistically and logically to their end goals and let the player decide what they agree with.
>>
>>164851098
>Wall pass conduits

I might use this

Its retarded the hoops you have to jump through to get power inside a structure, when it should realistically just be a small hole in the wall with a wire / conduit through.

That reminds me
>Metal helmets like in fallout new vegas no longer exist, instead of cool full motorcycle helmets covered in metal we get gay moped helmets.

And
>Instead of a normal futurist helmet we get some stupid star wars looking helmet the rebels would have worn with it's giant dumb flash light hanging off on the top of the head instead of a small tactical one on the right of the head, with the giant ridge running through the middle horizontally and vertically making it look like some dumb hard hat rather then a serious combat helmet.
>>
>>164852287
The helmets in general in 4 are very lack luster to me. Outside Synth Field Helmet. Then again the NCR Ranger helmet personally spoiled me.

Yeah, had to use it twice, (once made them 'quit' and get angry for a split second, the second made them actually attack) but it works. Thanks guys.

I'm not too bothered about stopping the fights. I can just reload the game. It's purely for screenshots.
