Most "Pro" players don't go for headshots. Harbleu has said many times it's just not worth it with characters like Roadhog, just shoot for the center of mass. D.Va falls into a similar category for most- you'll get the same if not more damage by tracking center of mass. The characters that matter with headshots are like McCree, Widow, and I guess Soldier (I'm sure some will feel more comfortable just aiming at the center of mass means his weapon actually has a spread). So yes, most people don't bother tracking head for crit damage, because it evens out with the lost damage from the spread.

Like I said, for most players the damage from the extra shots in the spread will even out with the crit damage. It's not even a matter of exceeding the damage done compared to headshots, it's safer, more consistent damage in most cases without needing to track a smaller part of their body.

Example, vs Genji. If I hold down M1 and unload the entire clip I'll rarely hit him with most of the shots. Same situation using bursts I can reliably heavily damage or kill him.

A good zayra can self-shield when hooked and suck up some damage increase from the inevitable combo, reaper can ghost out altogether, even lucio can push roadhog out of lethal range if he's fast enough.

Also, having played the shit out of roadhog, just having constant movement is the biggest counter. So many easy hook kills because players literally anchor themselves to the spot when they're firing. Just keep strafing and jumping around, it'll drastically minimize the likelihood of being hooked.

I used to play a lot of league and enjoyed playing support roles. As a braum (tanky character with shield and soft CC skills) you'd have a half-second window to shield an enemy's attack before it hit. You'd learn certain indicators of imminent attacks from an enemy character's position and movement.

Similar thing with Roadhog: he doesn't throw his hook out instantly, there's a slight windup animation as he suddenly stands perfectly still and looks straight at you.

Alright. So I've been wanting to get into Pharah(Lul) recently. She seems to be the Soldier of Overwatch. She looks fun enough.

Can anybody with some mastery of Pharah give me any tips? She's really squishy compared to her TF2 counterpart, so I'm not really sure how to approach her.

Do I stand on ledged and shoot rockets, or try and stay above the enemy with my jetpacks? When is it a good time to do either?

She's very fun, but you have to be good enough to warrant taking the DPS slot away from a 76 or flanker. That means picking off non-tanks every few seconds. A bad Widow contributes even less than a bad 76 or Genji. A good Widow carries.
